Scott is a human dynamo, and what he doesn't know about pizza simply isn't worth knowing. A most entertaining tour (and the pizza wasn't half bad either!) Highly recommended. |

Scott's personal love of pizza and pizza history shows through in his tour of New York City's pizzerias. He took us to the very first pizzeria in all of New York, but not before taking us to the cheese shop that sells the fresh mozzarella used on the pies and giving each person a plentiful taste of cheese that was made just 24 minutes prior. The tour included kitchen access and getting to see more than one historical brick ovens.
I would recommend this tour for anyone, including children (we had none), teens and adults. It was a blast for our small group of adults! |

I thought I knew a lot about nyc pizza, but scott has an encyclopedic knowledge. It was great to try a different variety of crusts, sauces, and cheeses. We went to two great places that I haven't even heard of. Highly recommended. |

Scott is incredibly knowledgeable in all things pizza. He demonstrated how to tell if a slice was made in a brick/coal-burning/electric oven as well as how to determine the moisture level of the cheese. He was able to answer every question and also has a great sense of humor. Incredibly, he knew a pizza restaurant in every participant's hometown - and some of them were international! This was my second time on this tour: first I went with friends and this time I brought my family. It was equally enjoyable both times. A great way to spend a few hours in the city! |

This tour starts at the original location of Lombardi's (the first coal-oven pizzeria in New York) and takes you through the history of Italian immigration into New York particularly relating to the development of pizza in New York.
The first pizza tasting experience is in Lombardi's at its current location. We got to see a coal-oven in action and tasted a brilliant pizza make with fresh mozarella.
After this we moved on to an Italian deli which makes fresh mozarella and had a tasting of this.
The tour walking us through Little Italy and NoLita. Very interesting background material.
We visited a workshop and showroom that sold pizza deck ovens.
We also had a slice of pizza at deck oven restaurant and had another pizza at another coal oven restaurant (one of Jack Black's favourites).
All in all a very interesting tour. |

We went on this tour with our 14yr old grandson- all pizza fans! The tour was really interesting - I reckon I can identify the kind of pizza oven used now by looking at a pizza- and fun. The guide was great and so were our other pizza followers- and of course the pizza we ate was the added bonus. We have not often taken a 'tour' as part of a holiday - but this really was time and money well spent. We have been busy reccommending it to friends on our return to UK |

Even though tastings of New York's best pizza is enough to make this tour fantastic - Scott makes the experience even more incredible. He is funny, personable, and best of all, a world-class connoisseur of everything there is to know about pizza. Can't wait to do the tour for a 3rd time! |

A friend of mine suggested we go on this tour. It seemed like a fun idea, so I signed up. Only later did I read the description. "What?!" I thought. "Only three slices of pizza for $30?! This had better be amazing pizza."
The pizza itself was not amazing, but the tour certainly was. Scott is very, very knowledgeable about his subject. He'll tackle any question you can think of and boy is he enthusiastic. It's impossible not to be interested listening to him talk about ovens and cheese and coal composition (yeah, we even went over coal composition). Highly recommend. |

This was SUCH a fun day in the City! I used to live in New York, but Scott showed us the 'underworld' of the pizza industry - I loved learning about pizza from so many angles. Was the perfect date b/c there was always something to be engaged in, to talk about, and we could talk with other people on the tour - also easy to just enjoy some pizza, the two of us, when we wanted to. EXCELLENT!!! Scott's enthusiasm is contagious and very much appreciated - great to spend time around someone so passionate about what they do! |
