One of the most frequently asked tourist questions seems to be: "Where should I go for pizza in New York?" This tour pretty much removes the guesswork. You get a guide who has absolutely unparalleled knowledge of the subject, is continually out there educating himself about the NY pizza scene, and his enthusiasm is infectious. The experience was just a blast, and beside the opportunity to stuff yourself with a variety of different NY pizzeria offerings, the tour gets you to parts of the city you might not see otherwise. It was not a problem purchasing beer, ice cream or even an additional slice along the way, and you'll be in a deliriously happy pizza coma on the way home. It's also fun to meet fellow pizza lovers from all over. |

As a Philadelphian, I always get guff from my brother-in-law - a native New Yorker - about how NYC pizza is so much better than any from Philadelphia. I always wanted to verify this claim, but had no idea where to start. Then I saw the link for Scott's Pizza Tours on the sidebar on Facebook, and thought it was a great opportunity. And it truly was - even more than I expected. Scott is a teriffic tour guide, quite knowledgeable and very entertaining. We took the bus tour - the Bronx Tour, actually - it was the thin crust pizza theme. I am told that he rotates the pizza types and restaurants often. I can honestly say that this was some of the best pizza I ever had - and the tutoring on the style, methods and ingredients all brought more enjoyment and understanding to the tasting. We had a small group with us, and rode around in a yellow school bus - which relived the fun and adventure of those summer field trips back in middle school. And appropriately so, since this was a very family friendly event. You only get one slice a person at each stop, and there are only four stops - so it doesnt sound like much for the price. But believe me - and I can eat pizza - you dont need anymore than that by the end of the tour. Scott has this all down to a science.
Is NYC pizza better than Philly? All I can tell you is now I 'get' NYC pizza, and it was great. I now have to turn my newly acquired skills onto targets closer to home. The jury is still out - but I plan to render a verdict after much deliberation, er...I mean digestion.
Again, it was great fun, and highly recommended - I would go again.
Thanks Scott!

Whatever I write here will not do justice to how much we enjoyed Scott's tour or how highly we recommended it. Imagine a wine tour, but with pizza! You sample different pies, learn more about different cheeses, ovens, ingredients, and techniques. It was the high point of our weekend in New York and we are already looking forward to our next pizza tour! Bring a couple sodas with you, and you're good to go! |

Scott's Pizza Tour - Cheesy Fun

Scott's tour had something for everyone - history, science, humor, exercise and eating! My husband and I were expecting a nice walk through the Village with a little history thrown in between pizza joints. We were surprised by how extensive Scott's knowledge is about every aspect of pizza - the history of pizza in NYC, the types of cheese and other ingredients, the cooking methods, even why NYC's excellent water quality may contribute to the City's reputation for great pizza. Not only is Scott knowledgeable, but he's friendly, personable and kind of funny too! The pizza's not bad either! Plus, we had our 3 year old with us and he was very accommodating and welcoming even though I wouldn't recommend doing it with young children as the places are small and the streets are narrow! Overall, a fun and informative tour and worth every penny! Bon appetito! |

If you enjoy pizza, this tour will help you enjoy it even more! This is a great way to learn about NY through the simple pizza pie. Walking through different neighborhoods and learning about the ingredients, the process, the history, and the culture around pizza is a great way to spend 3 hours of your time.
Scott is an amazing tour guide. His passion for pizza is palpable and contagious.
I highly recommend this tour! |

Scott came across as someone who is really enthusiastic about pizza. What could have been a rather mundane tour turned out to be quite interesting. He was very informative about pizza. We had three slices during the three-hour excursion through Little Italy and Soho. The only complaint that I have is that I thought it was a bit too long between the first two slices (stops), but other than that it was a neat experience. If you have never done anything like this before, go for it. Scott was well informed and very accommodating to our needs. If you opt for the walking tour, I would recommend wearing good walking shoes and carrying a small bottle of water. Water was provided at two of our three stops, but you will want it to sip on during the walk and for the stop that doesn't offer drinks. This is an "off the beaten path" activity that most people would enjoy. |

We spent 10 days in NYC and DC and i had a feeling this tour would be the surprise hit. I'll let the rest of the reviews do the talking; I don't need to elaborate. I'm in the restaurant business, I know pizza, and this guy might be more passionate about what he does than anyone I've ever seen. Props, Scott! |

My boyfriend and I had a great time on Scott's walking pizza tour. We're both partial to pizza (duh) and that aspect of the tour was outstanding- all the background info, the venues, the pizza. But, in addition to pizza lore and nummies, Scott takes you on a great tour through interesting neighborhoods, pointing out little things here and there that help develop an understanding of all that makes NYC the fabulous destination it is. |

Scott the leader of this tour is so excited to teach us al there is to know anounpizza! And he literally knows almost everything! We stop at landmarks, Italian delis to eat cheese that was made 20 min before, and most importantly we stop three different times for a huge slice of pizza! He let's you experience al the types of pizza and you too will become an expert. It is nice because it is not all centers around little Italy, so one wil experience many other local arras like greenich village and the famous bleecker st. I highly recommend this tour for people of all ages! |
