Mark and Jenna ran a well choreographed class. We all made our own pizzas. While our dough was rising Mark made several pizzas for us to try, all with unique ingredient combinations. Everything was geared for you to make these pizzas at home. |

The class was fantastic, Mark and Jenny were very open with help and suggestions to make the experience the best possible. Mark took the time to explain the pizza making process step by step and provided solutions for issues that were expected to arise. |

I was in New York City for a business trip and traveling by myself. I had some down time and was looking for something fun to do. I came across this pizza making class and was intrigued. I have made lousy pizza at home for years and pretty much gave up on it. I love New York style pizza and have always wanted to know how to make it.
This class was awesome. Mark and Jenny (plus another person who I can't remember her name) were fun and patient in teaching us the tricks of the trade and it was great that they use home ovens to show you how to do this after you leave the class without a pizza oven. Mark makes four different pizzas and you get to try them out. Then, you get to make four pizzas of your own, any way you like! There are a lot of different ingredients and toppings to encourage creativity. I made a desert pizza that was on the recipe list with bananas, Virginia peanuts and Nutella. It was excellent. You sample and eat throughout the class and take home your four pies.
Learning how to make the dough was probably the most important take away for me. However, all along the way, Mark gives you great tips on things he's learned making pizza over the years. I now know why my pizzas flopped in the past. After the class, you can shop in the store and pick up any of the supplies and some of the key ingredients used in the class. There was no pressure to buy anything but if you are like me, you will find at least a few things that you need. It is also a short walk to Little Italy if you are inspired to delve even more into the culture.
Pizza A Casa Pizza School was a fun and educational activity and I would recommend it as a great thing to do by yourself, or even more fun as a couple or group. I would love to go back and do the class over with my wife, kids or a friend. |

If you love pizza then this is definitely worth taking the time to do. You learn not only how to make pizza, but a lot about the ingredients that go into making a great tasting pizza. And, you get to eat some delicious pizza during the workshop too. |

Mark and Jennie gave us a great class. They are both lovely people -- warm and pleasant to spend time with -- and Mark's suggestions were clear, sensible, and perfectly tailored to the at-home cook. Mark's approach is totally common-sense and relies almost entirely on easy-to-obtain ingredients and tools. I went with my husband and sister-in-law, and we all loved the class. It's absolutely got me re-energized to go back to making pizza, instead of always ordering in (and it will be that much easier because now I have a freezer full of dough ready to defrost)!
The only critique I would give is that the number of ovens is too small for the class size. There ended up being quite a lot of waiting around (and one of my pies suffered from the sauce sinking in because it sat too long). An additional double oven would make a big difference!
Overall, though, a big thumbs up. We've been recommending it to all our friends, and my sisters now want to come take a class. |

Loved this class, it made pizza that much more enjoyable. Learned to make a pie from scratch, while eating the teacher's. What could be better than that! All toppings were available and in abundance, so we were able to become creative. The recipes are all manageable in home kitchens, so all the recipes can be done at home.
Cant wait to try them out again for friends and family. |
