Fun, yet informative and educational. Since being home, we've bought all fresh ingredients. Never realized just how much difference fresh mozzerella and various spices could make!!! |

My husband thought it would be wasted money to go on this course, since I am an experienced advanced home cook who at times has baked pizza at home. However, my skills in pizza cooking are hit and miss: and I was pleasantly surprised at the depth in which Mark Belo addressed some of the steps in dough and topping assembling and the reasons where it can go wrong. This course not only provides a fun time in a pleasant learning environment, but really picks up on the secrets and tricks of pizza making at home. The literature that we were given, has detailed instructions to remind you of what may be forgotten in the heat of the moment (forgive the pun). I whole-heartedly recommend this course for beginners up to seasoned / even professional cooks alike. |

We had a great time and it's really fun learning, cooking and tasting. Chef Mark Bello is a great host, very generous and excellent teacher. The atmosphere is very comfortable, very friendly and let you feel that mastering the making of pizza is very simple. Also his two assistants are awesome and very helpful. The time flew fast and after the class Mark tries to get to know you better and exchange ideas. I recommend the class and it's worth the time and the money. I still have to go back and buy some stuff. |

My wife registered us for a class as an anniversary gift. I have been making pizzas at home from scratch for about 3 months now and was really looking for ways to get better. This class was just the thing but I want to be clear that there were plenty of people in class who had never made a pizza and by the end of the day they were making great pies. The instructor, Marc, was awesome. His passion for making pizzas was only matched by his expertise as an instructor and preparation in designing a truly effective workshop and kitchen classroom. I can't say enough good things about Marc and his staff. They made the day fun and the class environment very comfortable. |

My wife and I had an amazing time at this class. Mark is a wonderful teacher: knowledgable, caring and enthusiastic. Not only was it an enjoyable activity but we will keep enjoying for the years to come as we make amazing pizzas using Mark's surprisingly simple recipes and techniques. |

I received a gift certificate to the pizza making class as a wedding gift and decided to go with a friend. We had a really wonderful time and I was incredibly impressed by:
- Mark's knowledge and running of the class, particularly how he would take the time to explain why he recommended doing things a certain way and the pros and cons of other options, as well as how he's really down to earth about supermarket ingredients to use. Definitely a food geek (and pun lover) but never pretentious.
- the setup of the shop for class--it's not a very big space but it's really, really well thought out, with mini shelves underneath the working surface to keep your notes and papers safe, everything needed in small containers within reach, a staff member who whisks away dirty items almost magically, and the camera set up with a large TV screen mounted higher so that even people in the back can follow along with Mark's demonstrations of technique.
- the selection of ingredients available for making our pizzas (fresh and local items, fancier gourmet items, etc.)
- Jenny's management of two ovens with 4 stones for a class of 12 people, keeping it running smoothly, judging when the pizzas were done, calling you over when you needed to add an ingredient partway through
- the selection of items in their retail store portion, really everything you could need if you are starting from scratch
- how our pizzas turned out! I have made pizza and bread at home before and have never been able get my dough to rise and stretch that way.
Before attending the class, I wasn't sure that $150 for a 4-hour class on something I've done before would be good value but thought it sounded fun. Now, I can tell you it was both really fun and great value for the reasons I outlined above. |

Mark Bello is excellent. He imparted years of experience information regarding the art of pizza making. My sister and I had so much fun making our own pizzas. Mark was so encouraging even if my first attempt looked like a big amoeba shaped pizza. I felt like I finally succeeded in making a decent looking pizza on my second attempt. The pizzas were so delicious with fresh mozzarella---especially the smoked one. and with other fun ingredients. We tried a variety of pizzas. We were able to make 4 different pizzas if we wanted and take them home in pizza boxes. The 4 hours of class went by so fast. We enjoyed the company of the other participants in the class also. Mark's wife and one other helper were so supportive of our whole group also. The main thing we learned is that great pizza can be made in the convenience of our own home ovens. This whole pizza making experience ranks in my top 3 things to do in NYC. Whenever we passed by a pizza place in our jaunts around NYC, we stopped and peered in the windows to watch the techniques. We could fully appreciate the art of creating a pizza masterpiece because we took the pizza making class. |
