| MY wife and I took the afternoon whale watching trip on the Chubasco. Randy's is great. Everyone was really nice. The boat wasn't too crowded so there was plenty of room on the rail for everyone. The Captain found two humpbacks, mom and baby we think. He stayed with them for the whole 2 hours. Wondered if we had seen more if he had tried looking for others but this was my first time so maybe this is the norm. Anyway the two put on a great show and everyone had a wonderful time. I would so go again!
Very clean boat, nice people. |

| The other people that were scheduled to go out wih us didnt show up. And Randy's couldnt take just two people out. Understandable since the price of gas is sooo outrageous! However the people at Randy's were nice enough to get us added to another group on a larger boat.
Whale watching was a neat experience, but definately be prepared for seasickness!!! Even in fairly calm waters. |

| My boyfriend and I were blown away by the owners at Randy's whale watching. They were the friendliest people and made us feel very welcome. We had never been whale watching before and we didn't wear warm coats and they gladly lent us some to wear. We loved the experience of whale watching as well. We were able to see a group of Orca, Humpback whales, porpoises, jelly fish and seal lions. It was very educational too. The staff explained everything that was going on. It was great. I would definetely do this again. |

| The personnel were really nice. It was a weekday afternoon and so we were consolidated on another boat, but it was a great boat and no problem at all. They took us to where they had seen whales in the morning and when we got to the area a pod of Killer Whales were attacking a Grey Whale calf. The mother was trying to protect the calf with little success. What was very unusual was that a couple Humpback Whales were inserting themselves into the action which was something the captain and none of the staff aboard had ever seen. Everybody was filming and/or snapping pictures. Because it was unusual and dramatic we stayed out a bit longer than usual, so we certainly got a good outing for our money. |

| This was the best part of our vacation. Everywhere we looked there were whales. They came up to our boat a few times and we got to see them jump out of the water as well. It was well the worth the money and we had a great time. I would recommend some sort of stomach settler though. 3 hours on a boat can be a little hard on the stomach. |

| The sellers did not give adequate orientation as to what the boat's physical description is and what the passengers should expect. The boat did not have anything to hold on like a bar or a string to hold on outside when the passengers want to move around to look at the whale/s. It's quite dangerous especially if the passengers are already feeling dizzy, but want to see whale/s for which they paid. The toilets didn't have water provisions and are located outside, so those who feel uncomfortable already, which almost all are, could not access them without being subjected to more discomfort. |

| We saw at least two humpback whales surface and spout and dive a number of times. At times pretty close (100 to 200 feet away).
An unexpected bonus was just experiencing the raw power of the ocean. My inexperienced eye saw 10 foot swells that tossed our 50+ foot boat around like a cork. I and my adult children enjoyed it like a rollercoaster. My wife (who dislikes rollercoasters) got seasick in spite of the dramamine-like drug we both took 45 minutes in advance of departure. We watched a two masted wooden schooner who left with us get tossed even more. Like a scene out of a movie. Hang on!
As we left the harbor we got hit by a good breeze, so while sunny and warm on shore, I was glad to have on a lot of layers.
So be prepared for chill wind, salt spray, motion, and one should have a wonderful time if one likes that kind of adventure. |

| We were in a small group of about 20 and had a very good time. The weather was a bit breezy but otherwise perfect for whale watching. We found a pod of three humpbacks and followed them for a good two hours plus. The ship's master was very congenial and knowledgeable, making the trip even more enjoyable. We had one young man on our trip, Mikey, aged 6, who was a bit fearful on the trip out as the waves were a bit overwhelming for him, but he got in the swing of things by the time we were headed back to port.
My only disappointment was that we did not get to see more than the one pod of whales, but then we did get to see those for almost the entire trip and even got close enough to smell their breath.
Overall, randy's is the place to go, you won't be disappointed, weather permitting.
Don't forget to tip the deckhand if he is nice. |
