Randy's Fishing and Whale Watching Trips

What a great day. The many different kinds of fish were fantastic. This was the first time we have ever fished in the ocean. It would have been nice if the helpers on the boat would have helped more. It appeared there were not enough helpers for the amount of people that had never participated in this type of fishing. It was still enough to make us crave to do it again.

The captain was very informative and we learned alot about the Monterey Bay and whales that we never knew. No one in our group had ever seen a whale in the wild. Watching the spouts before they came up was very exciting. The people at Randy's were very nice. The Sea Lions on their dock were awesome. The white sided dolphins chasing the boat were so fun. We would definately like to go whale watching again and would only go with Randy's.

Randy's is a great choice! We saw many of the bigger boats completely overcrowded, while our smaller vessel provided a great view without all of that. The crew was SUPER friendly with conversational information about the local area, whales and other ocean life. We located a pod of about 6 or so humpbacks that we enjoyed watching for a long while. Best trip we've been on for some time and we've been on several. It helped that it was a great clear-weather day. One thing everyone on our vessel commented on was that the other boats around us were very over crowded and you could hear their "tour guide" over their speakers all the way over to our boat. We all much preferred the more intimate information provided to our smaller group without the constant "blah, blah, blah." We would definitely recommend Randy's... The trip was great and the price is right.

This group was perfect for whale watching. Smaller outfit compared to some of the others. This was nice because there where fewer people on the boat and great views of the whales. Crew was nice boat was clean. Dog was super cute....she was like a whale-dar detector. :)

I used Randy's a couple of times over a week in Monterey. Each time we were successful in finding Whales and other creatures. The captain was knowledgeable about the ocean and the sealife we saw on the trips. Whilst I was there there was a significant ocean swell and it's possible that the size of the boat may have made this a little less comfortable than the other (slightly) bigger boats doing these trips. I would use Randy's again if I were to come back to Monterey.

The check in process was simple and the lady at the counter was very pleasent and friendly. Our day was cold and cloudy and we did get wet however we did have a good time and did see a couple of whales in the distance. Our guide was very quick to let us know where to look. The dog was very entertaining. The Grandaughter said that the dog getting the rope was her favorite part. She is 5. Everyone should do this once just to say they did it.

The captain was articulate and found us whales and dolphins. He gave us information of the birds and sea mammals we saw. It was a beautiful day and that added to our experience. It exceeded our expectations.

Called a week ahead to cancel trip do to death in family. but the person I spoke to did not relay the message because I still recived a call when we didn't show. Explained again about why we had to cancel. the Gentalman said because of the circumstance he would see about a refund. this would be good. I would like to be able to take a trip in the furture, if possible. still waiting for a refund.

It was very nice that the operator spent additional time when we did see the Orca.

We had awesome weather and the boat limited out on fish. The boat was over booked and they moved us to another charter company. Thank you for that, I would have been very disappointed to show up and not get to fish. However, their boat was over sold as well and there were too many people trying to fish. Lots of tangled lines. We had fun, but it would have been better if they limited the number of people they booked.

Father in law was visiting and took him out w some of my girlfriends. We had a BLAST. I highly recommend this trip. The crew was AWESOME!!

This is the best spot ever to have a whale watching, you can't be disappointed, wildlife is everywhere and even if you don't see the whales, you see so many things, it's really worth it !

I have been on other sportfishing boats exactly like this but never one that was even closely as dirty, filthy and pungent as this one. The entire end of the boat smelled like sea lion crap and tha Captains cabin was cluttered with everything from tools, dirty cloths, trash and dirt as if it hadn't been cleaned in years. I would never put myself thru such a mess again. Normally, boats are washed when they come into dock, not this one! The name of the boat is The Tobasco.

Pretty early for us retired guys but my son had never been ocean fishing and it gave us a time together. Christy, of Randy''s Fishing Trips was the BEST. She helped us out if we had a problem and made the day enjoyable. Someone had put out a "Groupon" discount and that meant there were a lot of lines in the water. The captain was nice and helpful when needed but quiet most of the time. The first mate was busy back and forth from side to side with tangled tackle. The fishing was good with a little competetion between father and son and the son won with a great catch on the last "drop". Randy's has good equipment and Great service e.g. boat, rods, new leaders etc. The first mate cleaned the fish at the end of the trip for a base rate plus tip, and you couldn't buy the fish in the store for that rate. 10 fish, 20 filets. Remember your parking validation. We will go again in the crab season.

If you don't have seasickness, it is strongly recommended. I caught 8-9 fish the whole morning.
