Good fishing trip. Good skipper. Good Deckhand. I got seasick, but also brought home some great tasting fish. I would recommend this trip.

We ended up being put on another boat , and they had already boarded their clients, so there was no room for us on the front end of the boat. It was also really cold out on the water, and they ended up staying out later than expected. We only saw 4 whales, no dolphins, and some sea otters, so was a bit dissapointed.

This is the first time I have been whale watching. I loved it. We saw a couple of whales, dolphins, and seals and were pretty close. The water was a little choppy so it was hard to get a good picture, but it didn't take away from the fun. I would recommend this trip if you have never been.

We went on a 2pm cruise - fairly rough seas, but the captain did a great job to keep us from tossing too much. He often chased the whales and on our way back to shore, he even turned the boat around when he spotted a family of dolphins. It was a great time and I'd recommend it to anyone!

Due to the lack of knowledge of the Skipper, this whale watching was not fun. The crew on the Princess Monterey seemed to be more experienced and more knowledgable. I would definitely give them a try next time.

If you get motion sick at all, or are prone to a queasy stomach, skip the whale watching tour. A third of our tour was sick (including the deckhand). Seeing someone vomit over the side can make you sick even if you aren't seasick! Also, there was not enough seating. Only a few people got seats, the rest had to stand for the entire tour. Since the deckhead was looking green, there was no narration or information about the whales, birds or dolphins that we saw.
Rating: 5 Definitely worth being soaked by waves
Cod Fishing Trip

This was definitely one of the most memorable fishing trips I've been on. Regardless of being soaked to the bone (mostly because I didn't watch the weather channel) I enjoyed the fishing experience. The quality of fish is prime and the skill level required to catch them isn't much so this would be a good trip for kids. If you're a fisherman that doesn't mind the elements, then this is a must. Again if you're planning on bringing kids then you should check up on the weather because it can get rough the further south you go (worst weather was by Big Sur because of a storm that was blowing in). Deck hands are really on the ball and the captain definitely knows where to find them. At the time I'd reccomend Randy's over anyting in Santa Cruz. The fish aren't biting there due to the ater being too cold so monterey is your best bet for rock cod.

paid for cod fishing trip but something happened from 3pm the day before and the morning of .we showed up on the morning of and it seemed something changed .person at the check in area said do you want to go halibit fishing also? then it cost me 20.00 dollars for halibit rigs and weights /.when we did go cod fishing as what we paid for it was too late in the day the winds were up .And I dont think we went out far enough to catch any good size fish all very small. and this was my 17th trip in 5 years. maybe gas cost to much?

First off we spent more time traveling there and back, than actually fishing.poor tackle rentals, equipment was probably 20 plus years old.the trip was over booked ,40 plus fishermen on the boat.hardly any bait only a little cut squid.but the deck hand did do a good job cleaning alot of fish.

We had a great day of fishing with Randy's Fishing Trips. The time it took to get to our destination was a little long, however very profitable! The fish started biting immediately and soon we were bringing in fish by the droves! The deckhands were very helpful and patient with those of us who did not have a lot of experience with ocean fishing. The only bummer was when our fishing lines got tangled with the other fishermen's lines (on the boat), but the deckhands were there to untangle them. We had a lot of fun and hope to do it again someday. We had delicious beer- battered fish that night for dinner....yum!

Don't waste your money on the big fancy ships - Randy's whale watching trip is fabulous. He customizes the trip and takes you to the whales. We saw Orca's, Humpback's, Dolphins, Sea Otters, Sea Lions, Pelicans, etc...Nature at its best. Old and young were equally delighted by the trip and we didn't have to go all the way to Alaska. Highly recommended.

We were on this trip on July 15 and we had lots of fun watching 5 or 6 whales and a few hundred dolphins. The captain was very informative and made real efforts (the trip lasted an half hour longer) to spot and approach a group of whales.

We enjoyed our trip VERY much. The crew was very knowledgable and friendly. We stayed out for 3 1/2 hours and saw plenty of whales and dolphins. As an added treat we were able to view the rare site of three Baskins sharks feeding right next to our boat. We will definitely return for many more trips with this company.

We booked this trip because my Dad was coming for his 70th birthday. He is an avid fishermen in the Atlantic but had never fished in the Pacific. We couldn't afford a private charter, but this option was very affordable. My dad didn't like that fact that he had to buy a license (on the east coast the boat license covers everyone on board, apparently), but we had a great time and caught a ton of fish!! There were quite a few younger boys on board, too.....and the older guys made them feel more than welcome and the crew were very helpful, too. Best part was the deck hand (we had Josh that day) cleaned the fish for us (bring a cooler to take them home in...you can buy ice there). Josh charges you $1 a fish....please be sure to tip him well, too. It's worth it! We brought home about 30 pounds of fish and all we had to do was throw it into the freezer. Great trip for avid fishermen and beginners alike!
