My wife and I brought my handicapped (wheelchair bound) elderly father and his personal caretaker over to Ft. Lauderdale area to visit his elderly sister, probably for possibly the last time. I as well, am totally disabled and can walk with great difficulty, only when using a cane. We wanted to do something very different having to do with the water in which which we could do some sightseeing as well as to get an idea about the area and some of the attractions and the higher end local residences, etc. The Riverfront cruise company was recommended to us by the Hotel at which we were staying in Plantation, FL. They also had the brochures on display in their lobby. So we called up and made reservations right away since were were to be in the area only for a couple of days because my wife needed to be back at work on Monday (we checked in on the prior Thursday). When we arrived at the marina at which the cruise boats were docked, we were pleasantly surprised by how nice everything was. Parking was easy and reasonably-priced at a nearby municipal multi-level garage. Then a short walk to the Marina proved to be a pleasant experience with lots of local restaurants and small stores along the way. The Riverfront boat itself was beautiful and comfortable. It was a short wait to board the tour boat for our cruise. Were were helped on board by a very courteous and professional staff. The cruise itself was approximately 1 to 1.5 hours and proved to be fantastically interesting and enjoyable! Our every need was handled gracefully and again, professionally, by the excellent and knowledgeable staff. All of our questions were immediately and easily addressed as well. The tour narration was extremely interesting and the scenery was also beautiful. We will do this one AGAIN whenever we return to this area. This will be a priority! This tour is something that we HIGHLY recommend to anyone and everyone to do! Was also very relaxing. The cabin was air conditioned and comfortable and also very CLEAN! |

The riverboat tour of the New River is a nice time. We caught it on a cool day, so it was perfect. I've been on it when it is hot and that tends to ruin it. The tour guide was knowledgable but a bit chatty. This would be a perfect tour if the tour guide cut down his chatting by 20%. I could've done without his political jokes too. After all, there are still some of us who think George Bush was a good president. Blaming him for the bizarre low tide levels in the New River was absurd.
All in all a very good time...worth taking the time to do it. |

The staff was friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable. The tour itself was magnificent, with just enough light humor to make it all the more enjoyable. We had such a wonderful time that we plan on cruising again with your company when we visit NYC in April! |

I (a recent resident of Ft. Lauderdale) was escorting my walking-handicapped California friend, and her physician husband, aboard for the Venice of America tour; with my primary agenda of quickly securing a particular row of seats for her as requested of me, to make her feel special and most comfortable (through the pain of walking with a cane for a broken/unheeling ankle). Before I could board, unfortunately, I was abruptly MANDATED by the male crewperson, that I was NOT PERMITTED to board UNTIL I stopped for a group-photo first, which frankly turned me off; especially since I had immediately and politely declined a photo, informing him of my primary intent of comfort for my handicapped friend. The crewperson subsequently engaged me in an obnoxious war of wills, quite childishly; so I, embarrassed in front of my colleague, would never recommend to my future visitors the Venice of America tour, thereafter!!
Sincerely,
Dr. A. G. Terrace
PS. The Captain's narrative of our tour was outstanding by the way, and I personally showed her my deepest admiration with a huge tip! |

Took this tour w/ our 2 teenage boys....the captain was very entertaining & the length of the tour (1.5 hours) was just right. The staff was friendly and enthusiastic, too. It was amazing to see all the mansions & yachts on the many canals of Ft. Lauderdale - nice, decent sized boat, too - smaller than the Carrie B, but it was nice not being stuffed in with SO many people. |

My partner and I had enjoyed this tour ten years ago and recommended it to our friends who we were holidaying with. Great way so see the waterways of Fort Lauderdale as well as a view of the homes of the (very) rich and sometimes famous. Lovely way to spend an hour and a half whilst visiting FL and the commentary is worth the cost alone! Glad we did it again. |
