Fun time on the Tour
Wed, Mar 19, 08   4:30 PM jg0308 Female 30-39 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
We arrived early to ensure our reservation and to explore the Riverfront shops and restaurants. It is a nice location with a few nice shops with unique items, particularly the art gallery. As we boarded the boat, a photo was taken of us, and we went upstairs to find a seat. The top is the best for viewing, though there is a place indoors with A/C if it is too hot. Both locations have plenty of seating, the only drawback is the lack of seating in the sun. If you want to catch some rays, on the top deck, you'll have to sit in the back on a bench and seating is very limited. The tour itself was very nice and relaxing and we saw amazing homes and yachts. The tour guide explained the famous people who lived in some of the homes (many associated w/the Miami Dolphins) but at times was hard to hear in you were in the back. The tour takes an hour and a half and is a nice way to spend an afternoon. They do sell drinks on board (a bit pricey - $8 for two beers), but it's very festive, so why not?! It is a nice way to spend the day, after the tour go a block up and shop on Las Olas Blvd - very nice galleries, boutiques and fab food!

Overall a nice time

The riverboat tour of the New River is a nice time. We caught it on a cool day, so it was perfect. I've been on it when it is hot and that tends to ruin it. The tour guide was knowledgable but a bit chatty. This would be a perfect tour if the tour guide cut down his chatting by 20%. I could've done without his political jokes too. After all, there are still some of us who think George Bush was a good president. Blaming him for the bizarre low tide levels in the New River was absurd. All in all a very good time...worth taking the time to do it.

Wonderful!!!

My family and I greatly enjoyed the Riverfront's Venice of America Tour in Fort Lauderdale. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the dozens of mansions and yachts that we saw. It was a excellent way to spend 90 minutes while my other son and his girlfriend were at a musical. I would definitely take the trip again and recommend this activity to anyone who's interested in seeing how the rich spend their millions.

It Could be Better
Fri, Mar 14, 08   2:30 PM Becca69 Female 20-29 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
We had fun and it was interesting, there is a spot at the head of the boat in front to the bar outside, where you can sit and enjoy the view, kind of windy but it was nicer then being stuffed like a sardine in the above deck where you sit is plastic chairs and listen to commentary. The bar is nice but the drinks are seriously lacking. If they improved that to a nicer version it would have made it more nice. The crew members are interesting. I think we would try something else next time.

The staff was friendly, courteous, and knowledgeable. The tour itself was magnificent, with just enough light humor to make it all the more enjoyable. We had such a wonderful time that we plan on cruising again with your company when we visit NYC in April!

Very enjoyable...guide was funny

We were born and raised in Miami, Florida but now live in California. We went back to visit our Mom and wanted to take her out for a nice day. All four of us thoroughly enjoyed this tour. We had no idea that so many well-known people lived or lives there in that one beautiful spot. The guide/narrator was fantastic...very funny and informational. I would definitely return again, as I'm sure I missed some of what was being said because there was so much to see and enjoy, including the beautiful natural scenery. Thank you!!

A Nice Day Out

We were in Ft. Lauderdale as our husbands were here on business. We are from Orlando and didn't want to do the "tourist" thing. We fell in love with the architecture and wanted to see me. We had a good time and our "MC" was funny and for knowledgable about the tour. We would definitely do again and would recommend to others. Thanks

Sunset Cruise worth the value but bring a coat!
Sat, Mar 8, 08   6:00 PM phreaknurse Female 20-29 Domestic Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
For the price of the 1 1/2 hour tour, this is definitely worth the value at only $17 each (plus a $2 per ticket minimal Zerve charge for processing the order -- recommended to ensure a spot on the boat), especially if you are not from around here and not used to seeing the fancy houses and being out on the water. (I recommend sitting in the back of the upper deck). We arrived around 5:40 for the tour which began at 6pm. It was cool, around 70 out, and the sun had just started setting as we boarded the boat at 6. The sunset was a beautiful sight (or what we could see of it, because the sun sets opposite the way you sail initially) but set too fast. We went out on the cruise Saturday before the time change, losing an extra hour of sunlight and causing us to cruise into the darkness and the cold by the end of the commentary. Now that the time has changed, the sunset cruise should not leave you in the dark and be much less cold and much more enjoyable. Definitely remember that you will be on the water and will probably want to bring a light jacket (we were shivering by the end because of the wind and water and had to go downstairs inside to warm up for the 20 minute cruise back to the dock). About the cruise: You'll see many stars' homes and the homes of famous company heads, and the captain has great commentary and stories to go with about not only the homes but about many of the yachts tied up along the docks. Don't forget your camera or cash, as it is customary to tip the crew on the way out and they take cash for both non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages including Coke products ($3 a cup) and snacks & candy ($2 for a fair-sized small bag of chips). If you don't want to buy food and drinks, be sure to eat before the cruise! A restroom is available on board. Truly enjoyable despite the cold, and we'll probably go again on the 4pm cruise instead so we can see everything in the daylight and warmth! Definitely recommend :)

The tour was great. I was concerned that the tickets were so cheap, but we had a great time! Our group ranged in age from 62 to 15 and we all enjoyed it!

Photo mandate!?
Sat, Feb 23, 08   10:30 AM aterrace Male 50-59 Local Group of Friends
I (a recent resident of Ft. Lauderdale) was escorting my walking-handicapped California friend, and her physician husband, aboard for the Venice of America tour; with my primary agenda of quickly securing a particular row of seats for her as requested of me, to make her feel special and most comfortable (through the pain of walking with a cane for a broken/unheeling ankle). Before I could board, unfortunately, I was abruptly MANDATED by the male crewperson, that I was NOT PERMITTED to board UNTIL I stopped for a group-photo first, which frankly turned me off; especially since I had immediately and politely declined a photo, informing him of my primary intent of comfort for my handicapped friend. The crewperson subsequently engaged me in an obnoxious war of wills, quite childishly; so I, embarrassed in front of my colleague, would never recommend to my future visitors the Venice of America tour, thereafter!! Sincerely, Dr. A. G. Terrace PS. The Captain's narrative of our tour was outstanding by the way, and I personally showed her my deepest admiration with a huge tip!
