Rock Junket - East Village Rock n Punk Tour

The Rock Junket is a very insightful and interesting tour with a knowledgeable tourguide. I highly recommend this tour to any rock fans, and I hope to catch the West Village tour!

If you want to learn more and see where the Ramones began, where Warhol and his factory held partys, what kind of building inspired Zeppelin for "you know which cover album" I'm talking about...well you will learn a whole bunch of stuff with the help of those amazing guides who will make those streets talking musicaly to you. Did the Rock Junket walking tour and enjoyed very much. New York has such a rich history for Rock n Roll that something like this is deserved. The tour was informative, funny and insightful. I thought the guide had information that was not so readily avaliable and going to the actual sights made it that much more enjoyable. He also covered a few different era's of rock and so it provided enough interest for everyone. I would do it again.

Bobby was very friendly and offered a lot of information on the old haunts of the East Village where rockers and artists alike spent their nights. He was always open to answering questions and was knowledgable and funny. Lots of fun if you want to get insight into the crazy times of old, before all the legendary places closed and Kmart and Starbucks moved in!

More or less lived up to what I thought it would be, but would have liked a little Johnny Thunders info thrown in. If you've read "Please Kill Me " your one step ahead already. Cute tour guide provided some additional eye candy. Covered a wider time frame than I had expected - interested me at 25 and my mother at 48. If you've never done the LES thing before it's a good primer and if you haven't been in a while it's a good refresher course. DO NOT WEAR HEELS!!!!! Bust out the Chucks or creepers for this one. Gets an overall 8.0.

If you are into New York City rock and roll history from the 60s, 70s, 80's and 90's you would enjoy this tour. My husband and I loved the tour. Bobby Pinn is a great tour guide full of interesting and fun info. We really enjoyed spending the 2 hours with him. At the end of the tour he even gave us a list of places to eat, drink and shop. We used the 15% off coupon at Trash & Vaudeville. We ate at one of his pizza places, Gruppo, and the pizza was great. We even bought the yummy traditional East Village Egg Cream drink he told us about. Very fun, interactive, educational. We highly recommend it to all rock fans!

I really liked and enjoyed everything about the beginning of American punk rock, mainly, Ramones history Guide was very good

As a Ramones fan it was great to tour the area of their former years! Bobby was there at the time and was able to transfer his knowledge and enthusiasm. On Bobby's recommendation also had a great couple of hrs in Manitobas bar! wouldn't have left but for the wife telling me i had already drank to much!

Great tour through the East Village with a knowledgeable guy who clearly loves the subject. If you're into anything from the Velvets to Madonna to US Punk, you will find something of interest. This tour was one of the highlights of our trip. A highlight was a visit to a Led Zep LP cover location - it wasn't until you were stood right there, that you realised where you were standing. I was with my wife who isn't really into this scene, but she really enjoyed it too. Bobby Pinn (the host) has also written an excellent guide book for loads of other locations around Manhattan, and it helped us to seek out a load of other places later on in our trip, such as the Chelsea Hotel, Cafe Wha? and the corner of Jones and Bleecker where the Freewheelin' Bob Dylan LP cover was shot.

We really enjoyed our Rock n Punk tour, Bobby is a great guide who knows his stuff because he was there when it happened. So many highlights; Led Zep's 'Physical Graffiti' cover building, CBGBs, Joe Strummer mural, Filmore East site and many more. No matter who you follow, The Ramones, Blondie, Iggy Pop, Television, New York Dolls, even Charlie Parker - there's something here for you. Don't forget to get a copy of Bobby's book so you can continue discovering NYC's rock history during your stay.
