Great way of finding bars and places to eat whilst taking in the landmarks you would otherwise miss or wouldn't know about. Don't think Blondie got a mention but maybe I missed it -Thanks,ip

Rockin' in the Lower East Side
Fri, May 18, 12   1:00 PM MJM511 Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
Bobby Pinn takes you on a Rock & Punk journey into the past featuring lots of inside facts and all the highlights of the musicians who lived in the area. I had a friend tag along with me and it ended up just the 3 of us and we had a great time. I knew some of the history , but wasn't too up on the punk scene of the 70's which Bobby told us alot about. We had fun afterwards shopping at Trash and Vaudeville with a 15% off coupon that we received at the end of the tour. This is a "must do " if you are into music and enjoy walking around seeing the sights of the Lower East Side.

Bobby Pinn has a winner here. His knowledge and stories are not to be missed. This was one of the highlights of my first trip to NYC and was everything and more than I expected ! I can't give this enough stars and if you loved the music and heard about the cool clubs from the lower east side, this is your e- ticket to the great past of this area. Can't wait to go back and do it again and do the Greenwich Village tour too ! Thank - you Bobby for a great time !!

Bobby did an outstanding job on this tour, saw a lot of the East Village and Alphabet City history in 2 very short hours. Weather was perfect and there was nothing lacking in the presentation. Highly recommend the book and a stop at Manitoba's afterwards. Looking forward to an LA Junket soon.

Having done the East Village Tour twice we decided to try out another area of the city. We were not overly familiar with the Village music scene, Larry was a great host, very informed and we could have listened to him all day.

Authentic nostalgia

This was a fantastic tour. My wife booked this for my 4oth birthday present, so I must thank her also. Bobby wastes no time to start walking us around East Village, etc. He showed us a fascinating part of New York that would have taken a while to view on our own, if we could even find it for that matter. Two hours go by in a flash. No complaints, I wish we had signed up for all the other tours Bobby does...oh well, next time! Having been extremely influenced by this 'era', I highly recommend this tour. Here is a hint though: ask your questions also while you are walking to the next stop, time flies when you're having fun. It was an interesting tour in wonderful East Village. Bobby showed us the most important places of the East Village music scene between the 60's and 90's.

If you've ever wanted to go, or just sung along to it, this is the tour for you! Bobby Pinn is passionate about the East Village, and the music culture that came out of it in the 60's and 70's. The tour I took on a beautiful sunny spring day was informative, engaging and occasionally moving. I can't speak highly enough of the man and the concept. I heard the East Village call my name.....and it felt like home.

Bobby Pinn is a Rock 'n' Roll Magellan!
Sat, Feb 25, 12   11:00 AM logankyoung Male 20-29 Domestic Tourist(s) Individual
In a city teeming with rock lore, Bobby Pinn is uniquely able to 'pin down' the coolest of hot spots. Never before have I met a guy (much less a guide!) so knowledgeable about so many different kinds of music. Be it Leadbelly or Bird, Iggy or Madge, Pinn's got a kick-ass New York story for each and every one. You want specifics --- what's the best night to actually catch Handsome Dick at Manitoba's?, does Alan Vega really still live off Joey Ramone Place? (furthermore, why does that sign look wrong?) --- well, Pinn's got 'em by the butt-load. Hell, he even knows a thing or three about NYC sports...not to mention where to find the best pint of Guinness in all the five boroughs. In short, Bobby Pinn has forgotten more about New York city's musical heritage than most of us will ever even get the chance to know. And in closing, I simply can't recommend his tours enough. If you care about rock 'n' roll at all, you owe it to yourself to ride shotgun on his Rock Junket. No man is an island, yes. But as long as you have Bobby Pinn guiding you through Manhattan, you won't need another damn thing. Rock on, Logan K. Young

Great for folks with basic punk/rock knowledge
Fri, Feb 24, 12   1:00 PM ramathews Male 30-39 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
I have to say this tour exceeded my wildest expectations. Bobby Pinn is super knowledgeable and is great at sharing that knowledge with you. He really lights up when he makes a connection with you That said, if you don't have a solid background in punk rock (namely The Ramones, The New York Dolls, and Iggy Pop) or rock and roll (Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, or any of the bands Bill Graham featured at the Fillmore East) your experience will not be as great. Those are some of the groups that he concentrates his tour on because they were so active in the district he does his tour. While he has a lot of knowledge, if you don't have a point of reference, he doesn't have time to bring you up to speed. Frankly, though, if you don't know Iggy Pop you have no business being on this tour anyway. Our tour had some folks from South America that didn't speak English and though their friend translated, Bobby didn't have time to slow down and make sure they got it. When the tour says 2 hours, it is no-kidding 2 hours, and he doesn't have time to make sure everyone understands everything he is saying. He did answer questions when they asked. It is clear that Bobby Pinn himself is really into the scene but he doesn't present himself as unapproachable or elitist like some folks do. Having a knowledge of bands/albums/songs that he was referencing really made my tour much more enjoyable as I was able to have a friendly back and forth about this or that music. Overall, I would absolutely recommend this tour to anyone. Even if you don't already know the music, it will give you lots of good direction to explore if you're interested and if nothing else, you will find some cool places to eat/have some drinks!
