Segway tour---DO IT!

We took this tour mostly for the experience of riding a Segway PT. Neither of us had ever ridden one before. Our guide, Scott, was very humorous ---and patient. He was well-informed and gave good explanations to questions about the Segways themselves, about "riding as a pedestrian," and about the tour areas we visited. He gave the two of us individualized training before we started.
We took off first down some quieter streets of a colorful and historic neighborhood. Then we headed straight on to the busy campus of the University of Arizona, which quickly honed our Segway-driving skills even more! Next we rode through some of the oldest neighborhoods in Tucson, where even a local (myself) learned a thing or two about early Tucson and the railroads.
But by far the coolest part of the tour was Segway-ing across the Rattlesnake Bridge. This is an enclosed pedestrian bridge which spans one of Tucson's busiest thoroughfares and offers good views of the city, the university, and the mountains. The length of the bridge (that is, the "body" of the snake) is made of a mesh-like material, allowing for visibility of the surroundings (including the traffic below!) Also the curb which runs the length of the bridge on either side is only a few inches high, making it easy to overlook. For me this created the sense of maybe actually being in the belly of a giant metal snake (or something!) rather than being just on a footbridge. That was cool enough! But to glide through this rattler and over the hectic traffic below so effortlessly and smoothly on my Segway was really great, great fun. Though brief, it reminded me of the sense of flying that comes sometimes in dreams.
We finished with a tour-de-force (at least for our novice skill-level!), returning to our starting point via the crowded sidewalks of a busy Fourth Avenue shopping and restaurant district. By now we had become confident in our basic Segway skills; and happily, both we and Fourth Avenue survived unscathed.
Both me and my guest are unreservedly enthusiastic about this activity. We very much appreciated that the guide keeps in touch with the clients via a microphone/earphone sound system, especially since riders go everywhere in single file. This contrasts to many local horseback riding opportunities, where only the first two or three riders can hear the guide, and where the last rider in the line-up may be carried off by a wayward horse if the guide can't hear the rider hollering. As far as I know, things like this probably don't happen with a Segway tour like ours.
We wouldn't change anything about the Segway Tour (Shake, Rattle, and Roll) we took. Except that it is a little expensive---let me say immediately that it's worth the price; but it is a little expensive. |

We were a bit skittish at first, but after only a few minutes of instruction were able to use the Segway. Within an hour we were very comfortable with them. The tour was most enjoyable and informative. Our guides gave us a lot of good information, with none of the joking nonsense so often heard from tour guides. We have already recommended the tour highly to several friends. |

We were provided with sufficient training to operate the Segway safely. The places around Tucson that were displayed were interesting, a little more information about some of the places would have been appreciated. The only down side was the fact that we were standing on the Segway for more than 2 hours with only 1 time that we all got off and were able to move around. The run through the University was quite interesting and enjoyable. |

We had lots of fun learning how to ride the Segway! The guides were courteous, informative and very safety-conscious. They truly paid particular attention to each customer/rider.
If you are looking for a unique experience and a look at downtown Tucson, this is the way to go! |

Segways are an absolutely ingenious invention...fun to ride, easy to learn how to ride. Even our 17 year old daughter enjoyed her "roll" around town.
Try it, you'll like it!

Lots of fun! Owner Denise showed us how to operate the vehicles and took us on an interesting tour, telling us about Tucson history, plants and animals. She's friendly and a natural teacher. I'm not athletic and don't have a great sense of balance, but enjoyed the tour and had no trouble. A good experience! |

We fully enjoyed the experience we had when we took the Segway tour in Tucson Arizona. Our guide was very knowledgeable about the area, and taught us how to use the segways and made sure we were comfortable with them before we left for the tour. She was helpful and fun! She answered all of our questions, made sure we all had a good time. It was well worth the money, and we have recommended the tour to all of our friends! Thank you for a Great Experience! |

This was our third segway tour in the last year; the other two being in Charlotte and San Diego. This was much different, not bad, but different. Denise and Stu are retired and very enthusiastic about their business. They have a nice story to tell befor you begin that explains how Roll With It came about. In comparison, we went on a very leisurely tour and found out some interesting facts about Tucson and it's history. I guess I would have rather seen downtown, never having been in Tucson before, just to see what we might like to do later in our visit. The downtown tours are only offered on weekends. Also, they had headsets which was a very welcome addition not offered on our other tours so we didn't miss any of the narration. The 'highlight' of the tour was rattlesnake bridge, but, in my opinion was really nothing to speak of. I would recommend this tour for middle age people looking for a relaxing history lesson. I think younger people would find it boring. The 'merchant district' in which the business is located seems sketchy at first but they do have a nice little office. Don't be scared away by that. I would like to see the downtown tour. |

A warm and heartly welcome in the shop. A short but complete and necessary introduction in the segway handling. The following tour was well guided, interesting and gave the chance to practise the segway handling. The university of Tucson and the Rattlesnake Bridge were the main points to see. Tour ended with a stop at DQ for a icecream/milkshake. 150 minutes in a small group (only two guests) with a courteous and extremly pleasant tourcouple. Thanks for everything. You will see us again. |

Really enjoyed riding the segway. The tour was really good, well organised and just at the right speed for me. The husband and wife team were very professional and knew lots of information about the area. Very hot when we took the tour, but we had a few water stops enroute and stopped in a couple of shady spots, but we were given plenty of info even on the short breaks. Thoroughly enjoyable morning spent rolling around the area when it was definately too hot to walk that far!! Highly recommended, |

This was my first experience with/riding a segway. The 'quick lesson' was great and I was very confident before the tour began.
Next time I'm in Tucson, I will DEFINITELY be on another "ROLLWITHIT" tour!
Thank you for the awesome experience... :-) |

My husband and I had a great time. The tour leader was lovely- friendly, polite and really knew her stuff when it came to the Segways. Her instructions were clear and easy to follow and she had us feeling confident using the Segways very quickly. She was also very knowledgeable about the area and her friendly and humorous manner made the tour very enjoyable. Riding the Segways meant we were able to travel much farther than we could have done on foot and it was really fun to ride them. The milkshake at the end was yummy! I'd recommend this to anyone who wants to try something new and different. |

This was a great tour of Tucson. We were able to see parts of the city that we never would have seen on our own. The Segways were fun to use. The tour guide was terrific. |
