Fun outdoor overview of Tucson

The Coffee and a Roll tour was so fun with the really nice owner Debbie Russell. She practiced with me until I felt comfortable on the Segway and then took me around some historic neighborhoods. It was great to try out the Segway which is so easy and fun to ride!

eNJOYED THE ROLL

My husband and I were interested mainly in experiencing a Segway. Since I lived in Tucson for 10 years before we were married, I wasn't too interested in the tour for the sake of the sights, however, it was a nice route and a pleasant morning. My one negative would be this: When we stopped at the guide's direction for a break, my husband and I walked a bit away from the group and decided to smoke a cigarette. The guide immediately jumped up and said, "This is a non-smoking tour!!" to which I replied, "We're not on the tour right now, we are on break". She replied, "U of A (where we were at the moment) is a non-smoking campus!!" I guess she didn't remember that I was originally from Tucson, or that we were standing by an ashtray provided by the University! She finally subsided when I pointed out that she was clearing fabricating the UofA non smoking policy. I understand them not wanting people to smoke while ON the Segway, but I didn't appreciate a tour guide trying to act as my conscience and/or overseer. She may not have realized how close I was to leaving the Segway where it was and calling a cab to take us back to our car. While the tour left us with a positive feeling for the Segway, the tour-guide-turned-high-school-hall-monitor left somewhat of a bad impression, especially since she blatantly lied to my face in an effort to manipulate my perfectly legal choice of activity.

Decent intro to using a Segway

The owners of the shop are very nice people, and they have a reasonable amount of knowledge of the Tucson downtown area. You'll get the basics of how to ride a Segway, but don't expect to be allowed to go very fast or learn anything advanced or "fancy." The tour itself is very slow-paced, with a lot of stopping. If you have a bad low-back, the amount of stopping and standing can be hard. (My back didn't hurt at all on a longer Segway tour elsewhere, where we didn't stop and stand in one place all the time, but I came away sore after this one.)

We really enjoyed the Segway tour. Easy to learn, with great instruction from Stu and Denise. As first-time visitors to Tucson, we would have liked a bit more general history of the area, but that didn't take away from our enjoyment at all. Denise should do hand-outs on the way - we had so many people ask us how to sign up as we rolled past them. Do it - you won't regret it.

would highly recommend this tour

Denise was fabulous! She spent ample time going over safety and use of the Segway. After that,, we each demonstrated our skill on the machine and we were off to the streets. The Segway was easier to use than I expected. The tour itself covered alot of ground, and we traveled much further than we could have on foot. It was alot of fun and informative. Denise captured our attention with many fine points about the sites we saw along the way. The rattlesnake bridge was neat, and who could complain about a milkshake at end the experience? I want to add that I had concerns about putting on a helmet that some one wore prior to me, so I brought a showere cap to wear underneath, however, when I arrived at the storefront, Denise had surgical caps available as well as Lysol disinfectant wipes and was very well aware of germ isswues. She personally cleans each piece of equipment prior to storing them for the next user. Bravo Denise for a fantastic experience!!! You have found your Niche!

Our guide provided excellent training. She gave a running commentary filled with interesting information. We can't wait to return and take another tour.

We had great fun on this tour. The route was interesting and our guide was very knowledgable. There was good safety training and continuous emphasis on safe driving. We especially liked the headphones that let us hear the guide as we were moving about the tour. She could make running commentary as we drove. Since then we have observed tours in Washington DC and they did not have headpones and the group had to stop and gather around before any information could be imparted to them. Would recommend the Tucson tour to anyone.

While in Tucson we very much enjoyed our first Segway Tour. It was easy to use (after training) and Denise & Stu are very safety conscious. They made us feel very comfortable operating the Segway, provided cold water for the ride, and ample time to become comfortable operating the Segway. Our tour was great... it's an awesome way to see the area. Stu is a great guide and his knowledge of the area is very entertaining & informative. Denise also shares this talent. It is obvious they are both passionate about their business and that their guests are enjoying themselves. I wouldn't hesitate to take another tour with this company the next time we visit the area. And the gourmet milkshakes at the end were delicious too.

Took my husband on it as a birthday gift (looking for something a little different), and he said it was a great gift and a great way to see Tucson.

We had no idea what to expect and were surprised at how much fun we had. After reading the description of this tour, we were surprised to spend so much of the tour on the UofA campus rather then other parts of the city. But it was fun riding up and down the 'mall' on campus. We look forward to taking the downtown tour on our next visit to Tucson.

Two of us went on Saturday and enjoyed it so much we sent 3 couples on Sunday, and took 7 more with us on Monday for another tour. They changed the tours as much as possible so we wouldn't see too much of the same thing. Segways are VERY user friendly, and you really feel cool when you master them and tell everybody what you did on your trip! We were a group of businessmen and women on a business/pleasure trip to Tucson. I HIGHLY recomment this tour - Denise and Stu are wonderful tour guides - don't think you can't do it!!

Group liked riding Segway. Thought the leader could have put less emphasis on his personal experiences. Would have preferred to learn more about local history and less about U of A.
