the tour started out okay at Empanada Mama which was very tasty. Our guide was very informative. I did not like going to locations and not tasting anything. I did not like going to businesses just to look around or purchase something. I shouldn't be hungry on a FOOD TOUR but I was. And I did not appreciate being taken to a ROACH infested establishment. It was a HUGE turn-off. I would not recommend this tour to anyone.

Highly recommend this tour. Do it early in your visit to NY so you can go back to enjoy some of the places you visit during the tour. Excellent tour guide.

Really good activity. Erin had lots of inside knowledge and was very friendly but, just as important, so were the staff at the venues. Oh yeah, the food was GREAT!

Fun experience if a bit sparse

Lots of fun and very good food. The places we stopped were quite good and very friendly but too much time involved stopping and looking at places that weren't open. Our guide was terrific and well-informed but the overall experience was a hit sparse.

Fantastic tour with Melanie from Rum & Blackbird of the Hell's kitchen area including great commentary and delicious food tastings. We did the tour as a teambuilding day and it was spot on. It's certainly reignited my love of the city and provided some great new places to try

This walking/tasting tour was one of the best I've experienced in a very long time. In my opinion, this one is up there with the Greenwich Village Food Tasting and Cultural Tour. The group was small, just five of us, and the weather was a sunny, brisk day excellent for walking. Melanie, our tour guide was very excited to share all of her little out of the way places with us and we, my dear friend, Desiree and I were very happy to be able to experience them. Each place we stopped at to have a little taste was great. My favorite "jewel" which was one of what Melanie called an "Anthony Bourdain" moment was Stiles Farmers Market. We were all a little hesitant to venture into the market at first because of Ab's reputation and because it had bobbed wire on top and look like a beat up, old little hut, that just seemed out of place in NYC. Wow, were we wrong! What a great little find. The fruits and veggies were beautiful and very reasonable. Desiree said she's walked up that block many, many times and never realized this little gem was there. I am a native New Yorker and was pleasantly surprised and very excited at what we learned and stumbled on. I took notes, yes, notes so that I would be able to remember where we were and to be able to revisit the places again.

I had not seen Hell's Kitchen before, but felt we were shown good restaurants , but tasted items at rather common stop offs. I had hoped for more specialized tasting. Our guide said things like, "This is one of the best restaurants in Hell's Kitchen" and then passed it by to show us a street stop on the way. I found no restaurants on the tour I would want to return to.

Five siblings scattered all over the country met in New Jersey for a week. I am from L..A., CA and had read about this tour and made reservations for our group. It was great fun. We enjoyed really tasty food and got a lot of tips on other places to come back and visit in the Hell's Kitchen neighborhood. Our guide was enthusiastic, flexible, and had a great personality. My nephew joined us and he lives in Hell's Kitchen. Even he discovered places he didn't know about. If you take this tour (and like to eat!) I don't believe you will be disappointed.

Has potential but disappointing

This tour has potential but we were disappointed to only sample four of the seven places listed on the website. In addition, we were geared up for the promised milkshake ("Water is provided during the tour and a milkshake is served on the route") to quell the heat of the summer day but it never came. When we inquired, our tour guide did not know anything about the milkshake that is referred to on the website. The stops we did make were quite similar--two Mexican restaurants and a bar that served mediocre, bland sandwiches. It would be a great place for a beer, but on a tasting tour? Additionally, the food was all rather heavy for a hot, summer day. The pie place we visited was the highlight, but it is not listed on the website. Overall, we had a nice experience and enjoyed visiting places we would normally overlook. Other dining suggestions and produce markets were pointed out along the way which was great for those planning to return to Hell's Kitchen. However, I feel we did not receive the experience we had anticipated or the one advertised on the website. Whether this discrepancy is due to a failure to update their website or perhaps because our tour took place on a Sunday when certain restaurants may have been closed, I do not know. Regardless, I feel this should be addressed so that future customers know what they are getting into.

We enjoyed our mother/daughter trip to NYC so much!! What a treat to be able to tour some of the local eateries and learn about the area as well as the architecture. What a blessing to have Erin as our tour guide. She was delightful!! Very knowledgeable, extremely pleasant. I was so impressed at the way she engaged EVERY person on the tour with conversation as we walked along. She is a perfect fit for Rum & Blackbird. The food we sampled was tasty as well! I would highly recommend this tour for locals as well as visitors.
