Captain John Harkless is a US Coast Guard licensed skipper who has been sailing since he was a boy. He founded Saboutime Sailing while he was living on the beautiful New Hampshire seacoast, and ran a thriving sailing charter and teaching business for five years out of Pepperell Cove in Kittery Point, Maine.
New England winters began to lose their charm, and in 2007, Captain John decided to join Kahuna Katamarans on Marco Island to take a look around, get to know the people and see how Florida would be. After a year with Kahuna Katamarans, Captain John decided to bring his own business to Marco Island.
With over fifty years on the water sailing boats from Beetle Cats to Square Riggers, he will make your time aboard "Saboutime" a special event to be remembered for a lifetime.

Activity Description
Sunsets on the Gulf Coast of Florida are spectacular and our sunset sails are really something special. We'll sail out Capri Pass into the Gulf of Mexico and into the sunset.
Along the way, we may encounter any of the wild life we usually see on our day trips. In addition, we'll see some of the species of birds only seen at dawn or dusk. We encounter most of these critters on each trip, and when we do, we interrupt the schedule to get "up close and personal".
As the sun sets into the Gulf of Mexico, we'll watch:
- Amazing sky colors
- Cloud formations
- Maybe even the famous "green flash"
The view you'll have from "Saboutime" at sea is clear to the horizon; unmatched and magic.
As the night comes up, the stars begin to show themselves and the land gets dark. Soon, the only lights are from the buildings ashore and the navigation buoys. We'll sail home through this tranquil beauty. Come sail with us on this truly special event that will be a memory for a lifetime.
The trip is yours and we'll do our best to make it as special and memorable as possible.
What Is Not Included?
We provide complimentary soft drinks and bottled water. Feel free to bring your own alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages or snacks as well (no red wine or glass bottles allowed on board).
