Your tour guide and host for this event is Ron Carlson of the Chelsea Brewing Company. He has been involved in the craft beer industry from its earliest days. He started out as a home brewer and went on to professional brewing positions in Seattle beginning in 1993. He is currently the sales manager for Chelsea Brewing Company. Since 2003, Ron has been increasingly involved with the world of artisan cheese makers. It started when he met the owners of the Harpersfield cheese farm at a beer festival in the Catskills and presented the idea of making a hop cheese like those he'd read about in Belgium and England. He visited them and made the first hop cheese in the U.S. and found the process to be similar to his first love of brewing. We hope you enjoy your tour with Ron!
The fastest resident sail vessels in the New York Harbor are the Schooners Adirondack and Imagine. They held the record finishes in the Chesapeake Bay Schooner Race for 14 consecutive seasons (1994 - 2007). Though they are light and lively sailing vessels, they are also quite comfortable, with ample deck space and seating for up to 49. They were built and designed for taking groups of people on spectacular sightsailing adventures by Scarano Boatbuilding of Albany, NY.
They are operated by Coast Guard certified captains and extremely friendly and talented crew.

Activity Description
Join us for this unique Art of Beer and Cheese Pairing event, which will start with a little beer-brewing education tour and continue on to a 2-hour sail aboard one of our classic pilot schooners, either the Adirondack or the Imagine while pairing beer and cheese together.
This 2.5-hour event includes:
- Walking escort by Ron Carlson from the Chelsea Piers to the Chelsea Brewing Company, Manhattan's largest microbrewery
- A 15-minute guided tour of the brewery
- A 2-hour sail aboard a classic schooner sailboat
- Three custom-made Chelsea Brewing Company brews, as they are expertly paired with three specially chosen cheeses to match.
- Exquisite views from the Hudson River and New York Harbor
Some of the sites you'll see along along the way will include the New York City skyline, Battery Park, Ellis Island, and the Statue of Liberty.
Sit back and relax as our crew serves you and you take in the views of Manhattan while engaging in Ron Carlson's beer and cheese tasting.
Climb aboard a classic pilot schooner and experience the city's beauty and elegance under the setting sun.
What Is Not Included?
Gratuity is not included in the price of your sail. Parties of 12 or more will be contacted shortly after purchasing tickets to provide credit card information for an additional charge of 15% gratuity.
