Well worth it!

We had a wonderful time on the fall foliage trip. It was a beautiful day and the staff was great. We were bundled up, but it was still pretty cold, so make sure you pack on the layers. The staff, however, provided plenty of blankets and hot cider to keep us warm. Don't forget to bring a camera to take some pictures of the amazing scenery!

Despite the chilly weather, it was great to sail up the Hudson to see the foliage. The crew was fabulously attentive. Good food and drink, great day.

Great crew, beautiful boat. Food was so-so, but adequate. Wine was so-so. Definitely worth the money.

Perfect autumn adventure

This was a surprise birthday excursion with a friend and we had a blast. The cruise wasn't fully booked so there was room on the schooner to spread out. The crew was capable and friendly. They made sure we had whatever we wanted to drink. Captain Kat was a delight from the moment she greeted us with her enthusiastic invitation "Let's go sailing!" The schooner was beautiful. It was so cool having conventional tour boats pass us and see lots of their passengers taking photos of us. We motored north to the George Washington Bridge, then caught enough wind to actually sail the rest of the journey. Watching the crew and captain handle the sails was fascinating. There were a few moments when we dipped way to one side and the passengers had to hang on. That made the trip exciting. The boxed lunch was tasty: a good-sized turkey wrap with cranberry-mayo dressing, couscous with raisins and a slice of pie (pumpkin or apple). Folks also seemed to enjoy the warm cider, although I didn't have any of that. Points of interest we saw included Seaman's Memorial, Grant's Tomb and the Pallisades. Sailing under the GW Bridge was also a treat. I wish there was a way to link photos to this review.

This was a truly wonderful event, with a really enthusiastic captain. Now, we're waiting for the next one: a complete trip around Manhattan!

Disappointing Sailing Never Left Manhattan

We enjoyed perfect weather on our trip. Our upstream trip was pleasant although extremely slow. Having been forewarned that the trip upstream was against the current, this was understandable. When we reached the point just beyond the George Washington Bridge. the vessel came to a stop and we drifted for about half and hour. We had been traveling just about two hours. Our captain then turned the vessel around and we headed back. In order to keep us out on the water for the remaining two hours , he than tacked the boat from east to west about ten times until we reached Chelsea Piers again, thus giving us ample views of the Jersey condominiums and Manhattan piers. This was my first trip on the Imagine. It's a splendid boat and you feel wonderful being out in the water on such a vessel. Unfortunately, I got the distinct impression that the captain gives the same speech each time to the groups that he takes out on the river in order to prepare them for a short trip up the river. I was extremely disappointed that he only took us up to the GWB. Perhaps he had to stop there due to low fuel but In my opinion, he should have taken us farther upstream. At least past Manhattan Island instead of only to the GWB and back. The hard working, cordial crew did not compensate for the average lunch. The turkey wraps were soggy and had no condiments except for lettuce. The hot cider was delicious.

It was a very nice cruise

I thought the cruise was very nice and lots of fun. The only negative was that we did not get very far up the Hudson River. We sailed just past the GW bridge and then turned around so we did not get to see much fall foliage nor did we feel like we got out of the city for the day. However, I believe that our cruise was the first one that the company had ever done. I would definately consider doing it at least once more to see if they made the necessary improvements. The crew was friendly, the atmosphere was great, the boat was nice. Overall, it was lovely.
