Fun and Relaxing

The cruise was extremely enjoyable offering great views of the city, Palisades, and GWB. The crew was fun and hospitable, offering blankets and hot cider due to the chilly weather. Drinks were plentiful and the food was more than expected - including salad, sandwiches, chips and cookies. Overall it was a great day and I would definitely sign up for it again.

The crew is interesting to watch. The sails are magnificent. The sail up and down Hudson is fun.

Great trip - unfortunately, too cold

We took a cruise on the Adirondack once before in warm weather and loved it. This time we took the fall foliage cruise. Unfortunately, the weather was very cold, and we all underestimated it. If we had worn long underwear and true winter coats we would have been fine. The hot apple cider saved us! I would suggest doing a cruise a little bit earlier than the end of October. The crew and captain are great. This is really a fun activity, especially if the weather cooperates.

What a Great Break!!

The staff and crew aboard the Adirondak are always friendly and professional. This trip was no exception! We cruised up the Hudson to see the beautiful Palisades in all their full Fall Glory! We arrived to a tray of h'or d'oevres and hot apple cider. YAY! The lunch was made up of very elegant sandwiches and salads. Made to suit New York City tastes. We even had a dessert tray! Next year I think we should EXTEND the cruise from 9AM - 5PM and include a stop at Sleepy Hollow's Haunted Hayride! The sailing that day was wonderful and Captain Sarah took full advantage of the wind! So sorry they won't be sailing again until the Spring... Oh well, I can always take a circumnavigation of the island on The Manhattan during the winter months!

Family outing

I booked the Fall Foliage sail as a present for my husband's birthday and also took our teenage son. I had done this based on the reviews I read, which were very consistent. At first I was worried that they were "planted" reviews. But from my own experience, everyone really did have a good time. The food and crew were FABULOUS. It may have just been luck also, but the guests were few (about 8-10) so we practically had the whole boat to ourselves. We took off a bit late and from a different pier so there was some anxiety in the beginning, but the captain then let us go on a bit longer to make up for the late start. The only other downside to a fall cruise is that it was so cold on the water, but there were wool blankets and hot apple cider to keep us warm. Overall, a great trip and highly recommended.

Too cold, not much foliage, great crew!

I took the 2 hour sail boat cruise in the summer and enjoyed it. So I signed up for the Fall foliage cruise. I expected that we may be getting off the boat and doing some leaf peaking, but that didnt happen. The foliage was nothing special and we were too far from the palisades anyway to get good views It was too cold, and therefore too long and I wanted to get off halfway if I could have. The water splashing in on us didnt help, since we were frozen to the bone anyway. The sailing itself though was great, the captain was very good and the crew was gracious and friendly. The light lunch was nice as was the cider. But next time, I will stick with the 2 hour summer cruise!

It was our second trip and it was fabulous. It was a chilly fall day and the leaves were beautiful. It was warm inside the cabin of the motoryacht and the brunch was delicious while we sailed up the Hudson. We're planning our next trip.

Didn't go far enough up the Hudson; too slow

It certainly wasn't anybody's fault that it ended up being extremely blustery and chilly, and therefore a terrible day for a sail. It also fell short of being a nice "fall foliage" sail, as none of the trees had changed yet. But for a 4-hour cruise, I had expected that we'd sail further up the Hudson (where I imagine there was more foliage). We only made it just past the George Wash bridge (big whoop). I also thought it'd be a more "exciting" sail (read: fast), but we just plodded along (the Circle Line goes faster). On the plus side, the (surprisingly young) crew were very friendly and attentive, and served a tasty lunch and many rounds of hot cider (we sure needed it!). For me, the experience didn't justify the price. I made the mistake of buying tickets weeks in advance, thinking they'd sell out. There were still tickets left when we showed up in the morning. If we could have gotten a refund before setting sail, we would have.

Weather made the trip unenjoyable.

Next time there is a Nor’easter I wouldn't recommend sailing. My fiancé and I are not wimps but we did not enjoy this trip it was way too windy and cold. There wasn't really much change to the trees so that was also a bit disappointing. The food was very good, the staff was very nice. The weather just didn't make for a good trip over all. It's too bad because we were really excited about going, and I paid a lot of money for it.

Great trip, beautiful views

I went on this trip with a small group of friends and my wife. The weather was great; the crew very professional, friendly and informative; the lunch was tasty; and the service impressive (especially navigating the deck with out loosing their balance). Of course the schooner itself was beautiful.
