It's a great way to give guests a unique sight of NYC. The Adirondack is a beautiful Schooner and its staff are very outgoing and accommodating. I had a great time and will definitely return again with the next group who comes to visit.... |

While quiet casual, best way to see Manhattan from water - crew is friendly - wine would have been appreciated vs. beer |

This was my fourth trip on the Adirondack; three in NYC and one in Newport. The crew is delightful and accomodating. They explain the highlights of NYC and also about the boat. And they work hard. I recommend this activity to everyone. |

Greatest Secret TREASURE in NYC!

Taking a 2 hour sail down the Hudson River on an almost silent, magnificent sailing boat is truely one of the best kept secrets in NYC!!! Better bang for your buck than a Broadway show! $40 for adults and $25 for kids up to 13 is a total steal! The crew are professional, smart, incredibly competent and make the trip a joy. Crew members have had past successful carrers so they're enjoying the sail as much as the passengers because they have chosen to sail and love their jobs.
Sailing at 1pm, with a slight breeze, sunny skies, sitting on the side, cruising comfortably, sipping a soda or beer, smelling the salt water , enjoying the views of lower manhattan, feeling the tension realease from everywhere, feel lulled to sleep, or dream of being far away, listening to birds, the splash of the water, the rigging of the sails up and down, watching the smiles and peace on everyone's face...worth so much more.
We brought lunch in refrigerated packs and enjoyed snacking and letting the world drift by. What a treasured moment to share with my children and friends. Next time we'll do it at sunset with wine and cheese. Made our day a fabulous memory to cherish forever. |

The crew is very friendly and professional. The sail was wonderful - past the statue of liberty! I often get sea sick but for some reason, the sail didn't bother me at all! |

I took an out of town guest and had a wonderful time. it was a great sail, the wind was terrific. I was hoping it would not be a watered down sail boat ride for tourists and was not disappointed. |

Last Saturday my Westy dogs--Casey Jane and Missy Paulette--and I went for a sail on the Hudson River aboard the Schooner Imagine, an 80-foot sailboat that seats 49 people.
I loved it; however, the dogs weren't impressed with the spectacular view of Manhattan from the water or by what the captain later said had been the best sailing weather ever. They both took a snooze.
The Schooner Imagine is one of Classic Harbor Line's vessels. Tickets for a 2-hour afternoon cruises are $40 per person. Complementary beverages including beer are served.
Tips: Wear rubber soled shoes, bring paper towels and don't bring more stuff than you can hold onto comfortably. The sailboat tends to shift when the wind picks up. I managed to spill first a beer and then a soda!
IF YOU PLAN TO BRING A DOG or two, you must get permission in advance from Classic Harbor Lines and bring a copy of the permission with you to show the captain at boarding. I was given permission to bring my dogs on the afternoon cruises only. Additionally, we were made to be the last to board, which wasn't a problem, because on these small vessels, there are no bad seats.
Warning: This is not a suitable activity for groups of people with multiple dogs unless the group charters the entire boat.
Charter the Boat?
Yep. And Westies Unite, a national Westy Club on Dogster, has done just that! Westies Unite will set sail in July. Fortunately for Missy Paulette, Casey Jane and I, along with the rest of the members of the NYC Westy Meetup group, With Our Westies! (WOW!), have been invited to join them on their cruise.
Stay tuned for the review of Westies Take Sail!

This is a copy of the review I wrote for Plans for Pups, LLC (my dog club)
