fantastic experience.

although we realize we really lucked out as there were only six passengers and one captain and two crew members that day it was a fabulous experience that we will do again and again. not having to compete with a crowd made the experience feel like we chartered a private sailboat for the two hours. the captain and crew were enthusiastic and considerate. we were grateful for the beverages (would love if wine could have been part of the choice though) . we appreciated their knowledge for the area/buildings, etc. (my husband works in nyc/nbc) so he was more familiar with the territory than me. the crew did their job and took great pride in their jobs. although i'm sure we won't have that kind of luck again (so few passengers) we look forward to sailing again and again and again. it truly was a fantastic experience for both of us. (it was a gift certificate from a friend to acknowledge my 50th birthday and our 26th wedding anniversary). our kind of gift!! can't wait to sail again. thank you. sincerely, jeanne and rick fox

This was a really relaxing, enjoyable trip with friendly, helpful crew and a great way to spend an afternoon. I took my husband for his birthday and we had a great time spotting all the landmark buildings in the skyline and had an awesome view of the Statue of LIberty. We're New Yorkers and loved seeing the city from the Hudson; we plan to take visiting family and friends out on a sail when they are in NY next. The 2 hour sail is just the right length. I HIGHLY recommend this activity, especially at this price.

Nice trip, great views, but better on a windy day.

Overall we had a pretty nice time on the trip. The day we went the weather forecast said winds were at 15-20 mph, but out on the river it was more gusty instead of steady wind, and this didn't help us sail very much. We had to use the engine about half the time, and still barely made it to the statue of liberty and back in the 2 hours. As other reviewers have mentioned, this trip is not narrated. However our captain was very outgoing and people were asking him questions the whole time. He also spent a lot of time letting the guests steer the boat and teaching them how. Try to make sure you are one of the first people to board if you want to sit in the back by the captain, where the seats have back support too. The other 2 crew members were also nice and served us 3-4 rounds of drinks. The boat was nice and new, and held about 50 people, but the biggest sail was broken and they didnt tell us until we were already out on the river and someone asked why they were not putting it up. I have now been on 2 cruises down the Hudson river, this one and a circle line sunset cruise. This one was nicer because there were less people, and I enjoyed the sailing part. If the wind was better this trip would have been perfect.

There's no better way to take in the NYC skyline than from the water (well maybe flying) & there's no better way to experience NYC waterways than on-board a sailboat. The schooner's are nice & comfortable, plenty of space for guests & crew (although would be better if there were fewer guests). Crew was friendly & professional & the entire trip was perfectly affordable for two hours of enjoyment. One suggestion: improve beer & wine selections on-board.

Love the Adirondack - preparation is important

I have been out on the Adirondack before as well as the yacht cruise and loved both of them tremendously. I have background on the water and try to get out as often as possible. When we went out on Sunday the crew was unable to raise the back sail and thus we wound up motoring for the first 40 minutes of our 2 hour cruise. They were never able to raise that back sail for the entire cruise and on a very windy day we barely felt the wind in our hair. I felt that the boat was not fully operational for the sail and that we did not get a 2 hour cruise but rather a 1 hour cruise and motoring back in to the dock. I felt jipped and disappointed that when I asked about getting a credit toward another ride they told me "you got what you paid for". When I pressed further I was told that the back sail being operational or not did not matter since there were kids on board the vessel and they would have taken it easy anyway? Anyway, I would like to go out again, however I am unsure at this point if I will or not. Look forward to hearing from you. Sam Rotella

The trip was GREAT....I absolutely recommend it to others. The crew were GREAT....the vessle was GREAT. The ONLY complaint I have was about a woman on-board who talked loudly, non-stop to the captain the WHOLE trip. I was disappointed that the captain didn't tell her he was busy with the ship or that he needed to point out sites along the route to other passangers. She had him so involved in conversation about her whole life and her family, job, niece, etc. etc., that no one could ask the captain about anything. Non-stop chatter for the entire 2 hours. The captain was being nice to her, but the trip would have been much more pleasant if at least the conversation had been about the ship or the view or the historic buildings and sites along the way - I'm from out of town and don't know most of the buildings and had expected the captain to give us a little info during the trip.

My husband and I (from NJ) needed something to do with my parents, now in the 80's and who used to be avid sailors - transatlantic, caribbean, inland water way, etc. This was perfect - the only thing my father truly enjoys! The best part was - 6 passengers & 3 Crew! Captain Cat, Kate & Tom were great. it was a delightful afternoon - glorious day & fabulous wind! We'll do it again!

Not only was the boat in excellent condition and very clean, the crew were friendly and competent, and the guests were a fun group to be with. We all had a great time. I highly recommend for tourists and locals alike.
