Fun and new way to see NYC with family visitors

For a city that offers everything, finding new ways to entertain family and friends in NYC can sometimes be tricky. A sail on the schooner Image was a perfect way to spend a couple of hours on a gorgeous September afternoon when my parents were visiting. The crew (Julian, Stu and George - please excuse any misspellings) was exceptional. For those who are sailors or fist-timers it's a great way to see a working sail boat up close, and have the wind take you down to the Statue, Ellis Island, lower bridges, etc. Beverages served by the crew are a nice touch. A must see/do for tourists and locals.

Very Pretty Boat and Excellent Crew

We are a sailing family and have been on the water many times. We took our two boys ages three and six. While the six year old has been out sailing for over four hours, our three year old got a little tired at the end. My recommendation if you bring children is to supply they with a snack. The schooner is a beautiful sailing vessel and she is fast. The view from the Hudson River gave us a unique way to see lower Manhattan. Our trip was NOT crowed. I was concerned when I read reviews from the Circleline boat tours about the large crowds and not being able to see. I think they say the boat can hold 40 passengers we had five other people. The captain and crew were nice and provided good service. Like the other reviews do not expect a narrated tour. They will answer and question and are very personable. Of course the view of Lady Liberty was awesome! This activity was the best part of our weekend in NYC.

The Start to a Perfect New York Weekend

On a warm September afternoon a friend and I decided to celebrate the last of summer by sailing New York Harbor with the Classic Harbor Line. The crew was hospitable, the weather was pleasant and the view spectacular. Sipping wine in the shadow of the Statue of Liberty as the sun set was a moment and an image worthy of an oil painting. We enjoyed every minute of our adventure and all the staff was accommodating, from the woman who issued our tickets at the Chelsea Pier to the crew members who helped us step off the sail boat. I look forward to taking the Sunday night Jazz cruise as soon as I can.

On one of those perfect NY days we decided it would be fun to try out the sail trip around the tip of Manhattan. Ordering tickets and getting to the boat was very easy. The trip was fantastic! The boat was in wonderful condition and complete with three very nice and capable crew. It was wonderful to see NY and NJ from this perspective. The view of Lady Liberty was breathtaking! We had such a good time we are looking forward to going again. This is one of those things that everyone should do while in NY.

There was little wind so we had to motor alot but it was very relaxing and the crew does a great job. The views were spectacular and the quiet beauty of the ship and sails made a nice platform for reflection and awe.

For a basic, pleasant 2 hour sale, tht Schooner Adirondack is quite enjoyable. The Captain has a "personality" and the boat is comfortable and well managed. The day we chose just happened to be picture perfect weather: clear, warm and calm which added to the overall enjoyment. Jack & Carol
