| My husband and I are experienced sailors and were happily surprised that the schooner Adirondack was essentially new (11 years old and beautifully designed), gorgeous (as a sailing craft and as a thing of beauty in its own right) and wonderful to sail. The captain was experienced and knowledgeable, the crew courteous and hard working (as the sailing is all done by hand, with no winches or mechanical aids) and the afternoon on the Hudson River truly glorious. We left Pier 50 and headed for the Statue of Liberty, tacking upwind on the outbound leg and reaching back to the pier, and every moment of the two-hour sail was pure joy. This is a jewel of a schooner and one of the most relaxing, unusual and thoroughly delightful activities that one can find in or around Manhattan. The views of the Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island and lower Manhattan are the best! Everyone should sail the Adirondack -- whether a visitor or a native New Yorker. | ||||||

A Beautiful Way to Enjoy NYC

| I gave this trip to my husband as an anniversary present. He is a long time sailor. So I knew the Adirondack being a sailing ship would appeal to him a great deal. It was definitely a great choice. The day we went was perfect weather. It was a sunny, warm day without too much wind. Enough wind to make for a pleasant ride. Though I strongly suggest bringing a jacket as even with only low wind, it got chilly enough that a jacket was a must. The staff was extremely friendly. We sat near the back of the boat where the captain was located. He and my husband discussed sailing during part of the trip. Though the captain was also great about giving me and my husband time together. The Adirondack was at full capacity, so it wasn't intimate. But it was romantic none the less. It was a beautiful way to spend the evening. Seeing the skyline from the water was lovely. We went down by the Statue of Liberty. It was beautiful to see it late in the day with a great glow. All in all, it was a terrific trip. It was great to relax and enjoy Manhattan from a distance. The vessel is beautiful. I think we will have to go back again in the future. It was too wonderful not to enjoy it again. | ||||||

| Our experience on the Manhattan motor yacht was first rate! First and foremost, the service was excellent and the boat beautiful. I even made a trip down to see the cute head--all wood with tasteful accents. From the French bubbly to the comfortable seating and great views, everything was topnotch. I appreciated the Forties swing music--it set the toney tone. My guest was my 88-year-old stepmother who felt well cared for by the staff. She remarked that whenever she was a bit unsteady on her feet, boarding or moving from the cabin to the deck, a sturdy deckhand was right there guiding her. I've already sent the link to your web site to my daughter and her husband who will be visiting Manhattan this summer. | ||||||

| My husband and I took the full moon cruise at the beginning of May. We had a fantastic time. The views of the city and the statue were unbelievable and will always be part of a very memorable experience. It was our first time in NYC and our last evening there and we wanted to do something special. The crew was very friendly, waiting on us with drinks and providing blankets when we were cold. I definitely recommend it! | ||||||

| We went on the first sail of the season - and the boat was very busy - but our group of 7 still managed to all sit together and enjoy the peaceful and powerful experience of sailing without motors.Make sure you wear enough warm clothes ,the temperature really drops when the sun goes down ! | ||||||

| First of all, I bought the tickets for my girlfriend and her parents, so I obviously needed everything to go right! In fact, I had totally screwed up by purchasing tickets for the week after we were supposed to go, not paying attention to the dates that were in the box on the ticket sales webpage. The business was able to change my tickets hassle free on the day of the cruise (though since the schooner wasn't sailing that day, I was switched to the Manhattan yacht -- which was great as well!). As we were sailing the rivers, I felt sorry for the people on the other ships that we passed by -- and I felt lucky I did not reserve with them! Our ship was very small by comparison, which was a huge advantage. But our cruise only had about 15 people on the 45 max. capacity ship, so we may have been luckier than most. The 1 1/2 hour cruise was the perfect amount of time and we were blessed with great weather. I don't know how much extra we paid to be on a "better" ship, but it was worth it for the type of occasion I was on. | ||||||
