Not Enough Bang for the Buck

Fifty bucks a ticket is an awful lot for cheese and crackers with a glass of wine for an hour and a half around the Statue of Liberty. At least come up with more imaginative hors d'ouevres.

Great way to see NYC

Nice relaxing unobtrusive way to see NYC from the water. The crew are professional and courteous. Even though the weather wasn't good the day we went in terms of sun it made for great sailing in terms of wind. Excellent couple of hrs I'd recommend it.

Reminded me of my childhood summers in Cornwall.

I took my sister on this sail to celebrate her upcoming wedding. We had such a nice time. It was very relaxed and informal; the crew was welcoming and friendly. The boat was absolutely beautiful. We brought lobster rolls from The Lobster Place in Chelsea Market, and the crew gave us cold cans of beer to drink. The ride was breezy and beautiful -- we sailed down the southern tip of Manhattan and right past the Statue of Liberty. My sister and I talked as the waves lapped around the boat, and the sails swept us along quickly. It really reminded us of our childhood summers spent sailing in Cornwall, England, even though the city here was obviously much bigger! By the end, we were lying on the boat, looking up at the full sails, and hearing the water and seagulls around us. For a moment, it was hard to believe we were in NYC! I would highly recommend the trip -- I plan to take my parents when they next come to visit, and my little brother already took his girl friend on the evening sunset sail (they loved it, too).

The crew was extremely friendly and answered any questions we had. The boat was very clean and very impressive. We would definitely recommend it to people for a way to spend a relaxing afternoon.

The crew was very friendly and helpful. Although it was a cool, cloudy night, the views were still beautiful. Much more exciting than a Circle Line Cruise. Good times.

we truely enjoyed the sail. We were fortunate since there were only six of us on the boat plus crew since people cancelled due to impending rain. The crew was friendly and the statue of liberty looked incredible on the cloudy day!!

My girlfriend and I are a college couple who live in Brooklyn, and we were both extremely pleased with this perfect evening. We went on the Adirondack, which was a smooth cruise on a great summer night. The crew and staff were excellent, and the ride itself contained a great deal of scenery while we were allowed to sit or lay down on the seating towards the front of the boat. We are looking foward to doing it again.

I thought the Captain was fairly cold. Also, given the price of the actvity I don't think the mild pressure to tip the crew just because they brought you a bottle of water to be inappropriate. Debra Sherman

We had an amazing time, but it would have been even more amazing if we each had, had a significant other :). The tour is very romantic....

Beautiful afternoon outing

I found this activity by doing a search on the Internet. It was much nicer than I could have ever expected. The ship was very nice and comfortable. The crew was outstanding in their hospitality and friendliness. There were mothers and their children on board for the sail, and the captain was very attentive to their safety, while at the same time making it special for the kids. Of course, it didn't hurt that it was a beautiful day in NYC. :) My wife and I have a wonderful time. We'd love to do it again with our out of town guests, or maybe even try the sunset sail.

Best twilight cruise in town
Mon, Aug 21, 06   8:30 PM AL2000 Male 40-49 Local Group of Friends
I have been on a dozen or more cruises around Manhattan and believe the Schooner Adirondack is the best. If you want a booze cruise, dinner cruise or live music, there are plenty of those options. If you want a quiet, intimate sail (not really a sail because, although the sails are hoisted, the engines are running--quietly--most of the time because it would be impractical to sail to the Statute of Liberty and back in 2 hours), this is the best choice. The crew is great, the schooner is comfortable, you can bring a picnic basket and they serve free drinks. Really makes you thankful that you live in Manhattan.

The Adirondack was as amazing as always!

I have been on the sails many times -- it's one of my favorite things to do in New York, either by myself or with friends -- and once again I had a spectacular trip. I bought tickets for a friend and her husband for her birthday, and another couple joined us as well. While I have been on the boat many times, none of them ever had -- and they all thought it was a unique and amazing experience. They were shocked that within 5 minutes of leaving the Manhattan pier, it was so quiet and calm you could have been anywhere. One of the couples was in from Los Angeles, and even with all the sails and cruises available there, they thought this one stood out. The views of the Empire State Building, Chrysler Building, and downtown New York City captivated them, but when we pulled up within a few hundred feet of the Statue of Liberty, with the motor off and no noise whatsoever, they were hooked. (And every time one of the big, loud, booze cruises or Circle Line boats passed by with hordes of people and loud music blaring, they would comment on how glad they were not to be on one of those.) Throw in some cold champagne and beer, and it was a very special evening they won't forget anytime soon.
