Don't Miss This Sail
Sat, Jul 15, 06   1:00 PM LunarEclipse Female 30-39 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
While visiting NYC for the first time in July 06, we crammed as much into a short time as possible. Getting away from the hustle and bustle and high energy of the NYC street scene and setting sail aboard the Schooner Adirondack was the perfect way to spend an afternoon. We got to appreciate the city scape and get up close to the Statue of Liberty - made for awesome portraits! We will do this sail every time we go back. The crew of Captain Peter, Mary Pat & Michael were extremely accommodating, professional and personable. Relax a while and enjoy the wind in your hair and leave the hurriedness to the streets. Signed, Sailing from New Orleans

My botfriend and I enjoyed ourselves so much. Thanks a bunch! When we passed by the overcrowed tour boats we were so thankful to be on the Manhattan. The crew was very helpful as well...you just have to ask :) Thanks again, Shawna & Dave Torrance, Ca

The cruise was great. We had nice fruit and cheese platters and it wasn't too crowded which was cool. The Captain and Crew were extrememly nice and we had a great time. I will definitely recommend this for other couples and consider doing it again in the future.

My family had a great outing on the Adironack! Much nicer than going on a crowded sightseeing boat. The crew was fun and friendly. My 10 year old daughter and her friend were entertained and informed on history and on the correct sailing lingo by the all girl crew... which they thought was awesome! Enjoyed having complimentery drinks and sailing around the area! Hopefully will go back and take my wife on a sunset date aboard their yacht!

This was one of the most incredible New York experiences I've ever had. I've lived here for almost 15 years and can't believe I haven't done this sooner! It's exciting and beautiful and one of the most fun things I've done in the city. I would strongly encourage anyone to take advantage of this opportunity, whether you're native New Yorker or someone visiting from out of town...I promise you-you won't regret it!

Have done a circle line tour, and wanted something new. The sailtour was so much better! The weather and the views were great. Price is good and the service was pretty good too.

Great Fun & the boat didn't even tip over...

It was a blast! Winds were up and our Captain (Michelle) 's enthusiasm was contagious. She turned the boat to catch the wind so we were virtually perpendicular to the water - - I was a bit nervous at first, but once I got used to it, had a lot of fun!! Great with a group of friends!! - Kate

Outstanding experience even for a jaded New Yorker

I spend a lot of time on the waters around New York City - kayaking, ferries, water taxis, Circle Line - and the schooner Adirondak is one of the best on-water experiences I've had. It was a moderately breezy day, and the crew set all the sails. We tacked down to the Statue of Liberty, heeling over enough that we had to hang on to keep from sliding to the deck rails. Then a straight run back past Chelsea piers, and more tacking to return to the dock. Lots of opportunity to see other vessels and the skylines, Statue, Ellis Island, etc. Crew was extremely competent and friendly. Plan your trip to go on a day when the breeze is at least 8 mph so you get some good sailing in!

fun but cramped
Sat, Jul 8, 06   8:30 PM vickibraunst Female 40-49 Local Group of Friends
I found the trip itself beautiful. The space, however was quite cramped. If you weren't sitting in the front with the cushions, you had to sit in a funny position to face your friends. Plus, not being allowed in the front of the boat, severely restricted movement around the boat. It is definately not a trip geared towards socializing outside your immediate group. The crew was lovely- very helpful and nice. There should be some cushions available for the middle of the boat to make it more comfortable and maybe some tables bolted down to make it easier to eat since bringing food is encouraged. Also, having some music might have been nice.

We took this boat tour for our first anniversary, and it was even more that we hoped for. The food was excellent, the crew was capable and very courteous, the boat gorgeous, and the views beautiful. I was looking for an intimate experience, and this exceeded my expectations.

A night to remember!

An absolutely fantastic way to spend an evening enjoying the sites of New York City! After having been to the city on a previous trip to visit our daughter, we decided we wanted to do something different this time; something other than visit the Empire State Building and the other 'oft seen' sights for a second time. Our daughter found your sight on the web...and the rest is history! We have already told our daughter that our next trip to visit her must include another sailing adventure, perhaps this time a city lights sail. And, then there was the captain and his crew...he was the most gracious, professional, 'story-laden' person you would ever want to take you on a water tour of the city...he is tops!
