My family had a great outing on the Adironack! Much nicer than going on a crowded sightseeing boat. The crew was fun and friendly. My 10 year old daughter and her friend were entertained and informed on history and on the correct sailing lingo by the all girl crew... which they thought was awesome! Enjoyed having complimentery drinks and sailing around the area! Hopefully will go back and take my wife on a sunset date aboard their yacht!

The cruise was great. We had nice fruit and cheese platters and it wasn't too crowded which was cool. The Captain and Crew were extrememly nice and we had a great time. I will definitely recommend this for other couples and consider doing it again in the future.

My botfriend and I enjoyed ourselves so much. Thanks a bunch! When we passed by the overcrowed tour boats we were so thankful to be on the Manhattan. The crew was very helpful as well...you just have to ask :) Thanks again, Shawna & Dave Torrance, Ca

Don't Miss This Sail
Sat, Jul 15, 06   1:00 PM LunarEclipse Female 30-39 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
While visiting NYC for the first time in July 06, we crammed as much into a short time as possible. Getting away from the hustle and bustle and high energy of the NYC street scene and setting sail aboard the Schooner Adirondack was the perfect way to spend an afternoon. We got to appreciate the city scape and get up close to the Statue of Liberty - made for awesome portraits! We will do this sail every time we go back. The crew of Captain Peter, Mary Pat & Michael were extremely accommodating, professional and personable. Relax a while and enjoy the wind in your hair and leave the hurriedness to the streets. Signed, Sailing from New Orleans

A fun thing to do in New York City with kids too!

Last night, I was hosting my six-year old niece in Manhattan, and after hearing her talk all about the Statue of Liberty lessons she was just getting at school and seeing how interested she was, I decided to keep her up WAY past her bedtime and take her on this sail. It was a great decision! We did lots of other things during the day - a fun pizza dinner, visited a chocolate factory, etc - but nothing topped this sail in her eyes. We took the late-night sail, so we left just around sunset and came back in the dark. As an added surprisce, there were fireworks over the Hudson River in both Staten Island and New Jersey that went off while we were on our trip. Not only did my niece love the sail, but it was really interesting for me to see it through her eyes. I've been on this sail on the Adirondack Schooner a few times before, but she kept pointing things out to me that I never noticed before. And to top it all off, she thought that Captain Sarah was just the nicest Captain in the world (even let my niece stand next to her and feel like she was driving the boat for a while) and said she wants to go on it again with the same captain sometime, so she can teach her how to sail for real! And the best part of all is that now she thinks I'm the coolest uncle in the world. (And I thought pizza and chocolate would be the big hit?!?!)

My boyfriend and I had a really great time on the "city lights" sail. We are true NYC locals and it was so nice to get a new beat to break-up a usual weekend with a fantastic night cruise. The Cap't and crew were really nice, too. Recomend this for everyone!

It was okay.

They do provide you with plenty of beverages, water, soda and beer. It was a wait before we got on the boat, apparently they were short a crew member. When we finally did board, we had an unscheduled stop to go to New Jersey to pick up this crew member. It seemed to me to be awhile before they actually got the sails up and the motor off. I'm sure we got short changed on our time, and did not get our full two hours.

A great trip, but I wish there had been more wind

The city lights tour was really cool. We pulled out of the dock right around sunset and sailed down the Hudson as the city began to light up for the night. Lying barefoot on the foredeck, staring at the night sky with its own lights, the stars, I could just edge out of my vision all the surrounding skyscrapers and pretend I was somewhere in the middle of the Pacific. It was beautiful. The only downside to the trip was that there was not enough wind to move under sail power alone, so the noisy engine had to work the whole time. But on the foredeck, it was just quiet enough. Loved it.
