Excellent cruise but we did not go near any of the waterfalls in the harbor or it would have been a 5* event!!!

Wonderful Experience

This is a great way to see the skyline from the Hudson, with Liberty and Ellis Island as well. The boat was clean. 35 passengers made it very uncrowded. The crew of three were both knowledgable and courteous. At $40.00, this is a real bargain. We will definetly do this again on our next visit to NYC.

Excellent way to say goodbye

I invite my best friend for this trip and we both loved it. It was the perfect way to say goodbye to each other prior to his departure to Irak. Wine, cheese, crackers, the river, the moon, and a good talk. The perfect formula to connect with the heart.

It was a delightful trip, just long enough, offering a new perspective on the City and the river. The crew was more than competent and very courteous. The light, clouds and colors were wonderful.

The sunset sail on the Hudson was a great time. Even our niece that leaves in New York said she fell in love with the city all over again.

Out-of-town friends and I thoroughly enjoyed this event. Unfortunately, my husband was away on business. I will definitely invite my husband on a "date" and do this activity again, this time with him. The night we went, we had absolutely perfect weather. The captain and crew were extremely pleasant and attentive. I HIGHLY recommend this activity to all: couples, families, groups of adults, etc. It is really great! The only shortcoming: the cruise ends in two hours.

Great alternative to standard rehearsal dinner
Sat, Jun 14, 08   11:00 AM jbrodeur Female 50-59 Combination Other
Rather than have a sit-down rehearsal dinner for our son's wedding, we decided to take the wedding party and out-of-town family (25 total guests) on the Manhattan brunch cruise (Saturday, June 14). It was the first time most members of the two familes met each other, and it was a great way to visit and see the sights while having brunch. The out-of-towners were thrilled, but the native New Yorkers were equally delighted. What was particularly nice about the brunch was that the food arrived in stages: continental breakfast foods with a waffle station and fresh fruit and cheese first, followed by eggs & sausage, and finally sliced ham and tossed salad. I'm sure there was more, but I was too busy mingling with the guests. The food was well prepared and nicely presented. The brunch cruise was simply a hit with everyone. The only negatives were that the air conditioning couldn't adequately cool the glass enclosed cabin on the sunny day. Perhaps retractable shades could be installed on the overhead glass for these occasions. Also, as the organizer, I would have arranged to cover additional drinks for my guests if I knew that the beer, wine, etc. was limited to the first drink. That wasn't particularly clear in the description on the website. It was fairly easy to get to Chelsea Pier by taxi, but don't rely on the taxi stands in front of the pier to catch a return cab. Very few cabs came through there, and the ones that did were occupied. After about 20 minutes, we walked a couple of blocks to 10th Avenue where taxis were abundant. I know at least 25 people who would give this event a thumbs up!

A reminder of peace

Though I gave a 5 star review, this isn't for everyone. If you feel the need to get drunk and listen to music, go to a club. I absolutely loved this and the only reason why i mention the last comment was because on the night I went there was a passing boat with music and drunk people and I remember a few ppl on the boat and a person I brought with me stating they wanted to be on that boat. That's fine, but this sail is absolutely perfect if you love a quiet soothing ride to see the city from a great view. The captain and crew were incredible and simply put this was a great time. We had thunderstorm forecasts and the captain and crew were fully aware and prepaired that I didnt feel a drop of rain. This is not a booze cruise but they do offer alcohol, to simply relax and enjoy the sites, and even sounds of just water and night. I know it is a CITY lights tour, but as well you get to see a little bright side of NJ as well. I have no complaints with this sail and I already booked another trip a few days after the initial one I took. I felt it was great to just relax and take things in, and is very romantic to be with someone who you want to show something a bit different from the norm.

I took an out of town guest and had a wonderful time. it was a great sail, the wind was terrific. I was hoping it would not be a watered down sail boat ride for tourists and was not disappointed.

Beat the Heat. Take Your Dog Sailing!
Sat, Jun 7, 08   4:30 PM MonicaWesty Female 40-49 Local Other
Last Saturday my Westy dogs--Casey Jane and Missy Paulette--and I went for a sail on the Hudson River aboard the Schooner Imagine, an 80-foot sailboat that seats 49 people. I loved it; however, the dogs weren't impressed with the spectacular view of Manhattan from the water or by what the captain later said had been the best sailing weather ever. They both took a snooze. The Schooner Imagine is one of Classic Harbor Line's vessels. Tickets for a 2-hour afternoon cruises are $40 per person. Complementary beverages including beer are served. Tips: Wear rubber soled shoes, bring paper towels and don't bring more stuff than you can hold onto comfortably. The sailboat tends to shift when the wind picks up. I managed to spill first a beer and then a soda! IF YOU PLAN TO BRING A DOG or two, you must get permission in advance from Classic Harbor Lines and bring a copy of the permission with you to show the captain at boarding. I was given permission to bring my dogs on the afternoon cruises only. Additionally, we were made to be the last to board, which wasn't a problem, because on these small vessels, there are no bad seats. Warning: This is not a suitable activity for groups of people with multiple dogs unless the group charters the entire boat. Charter the Boat? Yep. And Westies Unite, a national Westy Club on Dogster, has done just that! Westies Unite will set sail in July. Fortunately for Missy Paulette, Casey Jane and I, along with the rest of the members of the NYC Westy Meetup group, With Our Westies! (WOW!), have been invited to join them on their cruise. Stay tuned for the review of Westies Take Sail! NOTE: This is a copy of the review I wrote for Plans for Pups, LLC (my dog club) http://activedogs.meetup.com/54/messages/boards/thread/4865788
