one of our best new york city experiences

We love New York and the multitude of experiences it has to offer. We read about the architectural boat tour in the New York Times about a month ago and went for the first time last week. I say first time, as we can't wait to do it again. The architects were knowledgeable and likable. The boat was classy as was the crew. The almost three hours zoomed by. Our only hesitation is that there was so much to see, hear and learn that we felt like we may have missed something. That's why we will do it again. A great New York experience, particularly for those who appreciate architecture, the city and learning about the infrastructure. |

Four of us who love NYC and have visited numerous times, all loved the tour. We were concerned about the weather before we saw the boat. The accommodations were comfortable indoor & outdoor with large windows so everyone could see easily. The guides were very knowledgeable and dynamic. We hope that you will consider an architectural tour #2 for people who have taken the first one and want more! It was a wonderful overview; now we'd like to learn more about a select few sites. |

We had to cancel our trip due to Hurricane Sandy - were afraid of getting stuck in NYC in the aftermath. |

My wife and I had a great time on the tour. The guide was very knowledgeable and the boat crew were extremely nice and helpful. I would recommend this tour to anyone new to the NYC area and was a fan of the buildings. |

We are architectural buffs (but not architects), so we enjoyed learning about the many buildings and bridges encompassed on this tour. The arrangements were comfortable, and the food was surprisingly good. The only drawback was the cloudy weather, which of course is not under your control! |

The boat was very comfortable and well-equipped, and the small number of passengers a bonus. The AIA guide was very knowledgable, but he chose to point out too many buildings/structures, particularly on the first half of the tour. The end result was finding out only the name of the building and the architect for about 50% of them, with little aesthetic insight or historical perspective. Too much head-turning from one side of the boat to the other. He should have concentrated on Manhattan and left out most of Brooklyn (and I grew up there!) and NJ, leaving time for a deeper discussion of the more important buildings. |

Beautiful boat with very competent and pleasant crew. The architect/lecturer was excellent. Interesting and interested. The buffet was a pleasant extra. |

Better than the Circle Line Tour

Better than the popular Circle Line Tour, particularly if you have any interest in architecture. Our guide was kept busy talking the whole time because the boat moves pretty quickly and there's so much to talk about. The Circle Line guides are silent for a big stretch of the tour, but our guide kept talking, and was always interesting. |

The guide was excellent -- knowledgeable, humorous, very good at providing background & context for individual buildings & the overall development of various areas of the city. The staff was helpful & courteous and the boat was attractive & very comfortable. It was a splendid opportunity for locals to learn even more about the city they know & love and for tourists to see NY from an entirely different perspective & learn about its architecture and expansion. |

Had a great time with my out of town friends. The narrator spoke for the entire tour in great depth on the buildings, styles and bridges. I was amazed he didn't even stop for a drink of water! I will definitely recommend this tour to friends. Hope the boat and docks weathered Sandy. |

Well run, friendly, helpful staff, non-stop, detailed, entertaining information provided by moderator. Perfect snacks and lovely ship. We have already recommended this trip to several friends and I plan to write a glowing review on tripadvisor. Plus we hope to take more AIA outings. |
