Having spent the previous 9 days exploring parts of NY on foot and by subway, my wife and I both found the view from the water provided a very interesting contextual counterpoint. Although I have an architectural degree I was pleasantly surprised to find that the presentation took a development history and infrastructure approach dealing with socio-economic and physical factors that had resulted in the patterns we see today. While key buildings and their architectural authors were noted, the presentation did not dwell on architecture as art or starchitect topics. We came away with a greater appreciation of how and why the City has evolved as it has and an image of a great city still evolving in interesting ways.
Thanks for a fitting cap to our first trip to New York. We will be back. |

The boat is great/lovely/warm but you can go outside. The architect who did the "tour" was extremely knowledgable, excellent speaker and very pleasant. Would definitely do this tour again in the spring/warmer weather (so I could be outside more) or another, similar tour on this boat. One friend has difficulty walking and she was extremely comfortable on the "couches" benches provided. We all give this an A+. |

The entire point in making reservations on the Sunset Sail Cruise was the capability of capturing photography on the Hudson at Sunset. To our disappointment the sunset cruise really starts after the sun has gone down. The combination of a moving ship and no lighting made It impossible to get any photos that were not blurred. In a poor attempt to be funny about it the skipper fellow decided to tell a joke about coming back tomorrow and taking a daytime cruise. I don't remember that anyone laughed, especially the photographers.
It was interesting that he later mentioned that the Adirondack that we were on was going down to Key West the next week. A few years ago, I took a Sunset Sail Cruise on a similar ship in Key West. It sailed before sunset and came in after the sun was down just like the name "Sunset Cruise' implied. The photos taken on that Sunset Cruise were some of the best photos I've ever taken.
This cruise could have been as good as the Key West Sunset Cruise, but ended up being a waste of $110 (including gratuity). I was not able to end up with any useable photos that were not blurred because of the darkness.
If you just want to ride around on a sailboat, this cruise is for you. If you're a photographer after great sunset photos, pass on this one. |

Very little information and description. I would have liked informatio and history. Robert Moses was barely mentioned. |

An architectural tour around Manhattan that easily matches the best of the renowned tours in Chicago. The three speakers were well worth hearing. Their presentations were excellent: intelligent, informed and up-to-date. The boat is most comfortable and provides good viewing wherever on sits. Seating is available both inside and out on deck, so the weather would never matter. The food and beverage service (included in the ticket) was high quality. I've lived and worked in Manhattan for over three decades, and this trip greatly enriched my appreciation of our city. I would unhesitatingly recommend the trip to both native New Yorkers and to visitors to the city. |

I loved seeing familiar buildings from unfamiliar angles. I loved the historical background by the architects. I loved the comfortable and elegant boat, and the delicious collation. It was a delightful afternoon. |

The three guides were fantastic and provided much insight into a city I live in. I can't recommend this tour highly enough - great for dates and families. Fantastic service on the boat and the vistas of the Manhattan skyline, Brooklyn, the Hudson and even New Jersey were beautiful. |

Would absolutely recommend this day sail! We had the perfect day on the water - sunny and 70, so we couldn't have had better luck!! It was relaxing ride with a good captain and crew. Great way to capture beautiful pics of the city and Lady Liberty! Great complimentary drinks were included. Worth every cent! |

...than this! A beautiful boat, very friendly crew, and a few drinks in the sun - what more could you ask for. I'd love to go again as it's almost a little holiday in its own right. Highly recommended. |

You wont find a better way to spend a Sunday afternoon sightseeing. Unique views of the city, with lots of history as told by the capt. and crew. Great photo ops. Bring an appetite as the food is plentiful and delicious. |

Everything was perfect. The crowd was not too large. Plenty of room to move around the boat. And the food was top-knotch. So much of it and so good. Fresh baked quiche and turkey sausages were delicious. The hommade waffles were my favorite. 4 courses total. First course is muffins, pastries, croissants, donuts, bagels, waffles and smoked salmon. Second course is quiche and turkey sausages. Third course is honey-glazed ham and a green salad. Fourth course is cookies, cannolis, eclairs and fresh fruit. Oh yeah, the first drink is free!!!!! |

We enjoyed amazing views of Manhattan and the statue of liberty in the crisp October weather with blankets and hot chocolate (both provided by the captain).
Wonderful : ) |
