Not sure the boat tour was worth the money.

I saw a review of the boat tour in a recent NY Times article, but I didn't think the tour was as good as mentioned in the article. I probably wouldn't take the tour again, as I don't think it was worth the money, and I'm not sure I would recommend it to friends. |

The staff was very knowlegable and eloquent in their explanations. The crew assisted with a wheelchair bound person to make his trip as enjoyable as the others. |

I found the experience very informative and interesting. The brochure could use improvement with information about the building and bridges included and the architechts names and dates. It is not possible to absorb and remember the details given by the narator. Thoughly enjoyed the trip and was pleasantly surprised with the extent and the varietly of delicious cheese, fruit nuts and breads. Thank you. |

And are interested in architecture (or even if you are not) this tour provides a wonderfully different view of the dazzling and the utilitarian. Our guide was a fountain of information, and it helped that it was a gorgeous day. I plan on a repeat with friends. It is worth it! |

Even for those that think they know NYC, this is an amazing little adventure. You are treated to an incredible history of the city, an absolutely delightful cruise, a view of NYC that you can only get by boat and a crew on board that is sure to delight in every way. Snacks, drinks, blankets if you're chilly, sit indoors or outdoors. I cannot recommend this enough. The value for the dollar is really second to none. The knowledge they impart is mesmerizing. Run, don't walk, to do this. You'll love every moment. |

As a longtime resident of Manhattan and an architectural buff, I learned things I had never before known about the city's architectural culture, and from a unique perspective. The guide was an architect who had worked on Roosevelt Island development, I believe, and quite knowledgeable, with a viewpoint toward maximum usage of New York's vast waterfronts, esthetic as well as utilitarian.
The atmosphere was friendly and helpful, and there was little need for the suggestion that customers might wish to bring extra food. The almost 360-degree view helped as well, as did the photographs of the buildings because it was not always clear just where the buildings being described were situated.
One complaint: the fragile stemmed glasses used for the beverages were nice to look at but a hazard. I happened to be the "one on every trip" whose glass crashed, despite the great care I took with it. It could have been dangerous were anyone sitting in its trajectory and as it was I was embarrassed. Also, if it had spilled on anyone or their possessions--it just missed--it would have been upsetting to them as well as me. Although not as elegant, tumblers with a weighted bottom, even plastic (which can be quite durable and esthetic), seem a better choice.
A small quibble as well, several passengers remarked about the tipping policy, feeling that the price of the trip should have included enough to pay your employees adequately for their work without tipping. Some felt that the price of the trip was already enough to cover tipping. Actually tipping is somewhat demeaning as it is not used for professional, only "lower level" employees. |

Our guide was very knowledgeable. Crew was very courteous. "Snacks" and drinks were generous. Views undeniably gorgeous. Perfect cruise around the island for those who enjoy architecture and history and current events in Manhattan. Would recommend it highly. |

A wonderful afternoon's adventure on the water. Informative with regard to both well known and little known details of the NYC cityscape and waterways. Staff was pleasant and efficient. The Manhattan provided a comfortable ride and relaxing setting. |

My friend and I decided to do something different in NY. We wanted to be able to talk yet be entertained. It was going to be too beautiful a day to be inside, so that eliminated the museums and movies. The sailboat was beautiful and the day was fabulous, plenty of wind and blue skies. It was nice to read on the website that this was not a booze cruise. Alcohol was served on the boat but not to excess. The sailboat did gain some speed and actually heeled. That was fun! The crew was pleasant and knowledgeable. They pointed out some landmarks but did not continually talk for the entire 2 hours. I would highly recommend this NY sailing adventure. |

You don't only get a tour which shows you the skyline/hightlights of New York, but more over you step in a world of fresh air, no noise, relaxation (because of the wonderful enthousiastic professional crew).
A sense of freedom and nature in combination with a world city. A perfect combination of 2 complete different worlds. It was one of the hightlights of our visit. |

Too much guide talk

The guide, very knowlegeable, did not stop for a breath, giving us too many details and too many names of architects. This is a wonderful tour, but we needed to hear more about special buildings such as the Woolworth and its role in the architecture of NYC. Fewer sites and less talk, but more concentration on the specials. Not all buildings are equal. |

The boat was beautiful. It was a cold day but warm below deck and very comfortable. The waiters brought drinks - heavenly. The architect guide was very knowledgeable, friendly and charming. It was amazing how much we learned about both the old and new architecture of New York. The boat took us around the entire island of Manhattan and I don't think the guide missed a thing. This tour is the best way to see and appreciate New York City. Just beautiful! |
