Like sailing with friends....

I sailed on Adirondak once before; today I brought my wife and adult kids. I have sailed for many decades on many oceans. This is a fine safe boat and the crew is delightful. Yes, under the watchful eye of our captain, I was able to be at the helm myself.

great soft-adventure experience

The Adirondack being a sailing vessel, it helps greatly if the day you pick is at least somewhat breezy. Fortunately, it was for us, with the forecast being accurate for 10-15 knot winds. The result was a thrilling ride, under full sail and no motor, to the Statue of Liberty, with just enough scrambling among the passengers when the captain decided to tack. On the way back, a gentle sail up the Hudson back to Chelsea, to conclude a terrific experience. Had done it before, and would do it again.

nice boat, underwhelming brunch

The boat was not filled to capacity on our trip so we had room to move about. Views are great from inside and wherever you sit. Brunch could be done with more creative and higher quality food choices. As New Yorkers, we did not need/desire narration but this cruise may not be the best choice for those who want information about what their seeing on the tour.

We boarded on time. Capt. Kate introduced herself and crew members. She explained to us the rules of safety and then set sail. We were a total of 19 people and all seemed to have a wonderful time. The crew was very informative and interacted with us frequently. Beverages were frequently served. Our comfort was important to the captain and her crew. I highly recommend this trip.

Summer Outing

We enjoyed the Sunset Cruise very much. It was a pleasant way to spend a summer evening and to cool off. The crew and captain were very nice. The best part was the absence of a loudspeaker and commentary.

Wonderful New York Experience

Lived in NYC all my life, had to wait for out of towners from Italy, to show them something different. They loved it, i loved it. This is so wonderful i will take this again even if by myself. The female crew were fabulous, having grown up with 8 brothers, living in a male dominated society, seeing these women handle a yacht was quite impressive. They were smart, charming and beautiful. Thanks again, or as my guests would say Grazie Tante.

Outstanding experience even for a jaded New Yorker

I spend a lot of time on the waters around New York City - kayaking, ferries, water taxis, Circle Line - and the schooner Adirondak is one of the best on-water experiences I've had. It was a moderately breezy day, and the crew set all the sails. We tacked down to the Statue of Liberty, heeling over enough that we had to hang on to keep from sliding to the deck rails. Then a straight run back past Chelsea piers, and more tacking to return to the dock. Lots of opportunity to see other vessels and the skylines, Statue, Ellis Island, etc. Crew was extremely competent and friendly. Plan your trip to go on a day when the breeze is at least 8 mph so you get some good sailing in!

Perfect Anniversary

My husband and I enjoyed the cruise from beginning to end; July 5th was a quiet group of 15, and felt like a private party. Weather was perfect, and a memorable 48th anniversary. Crew members were very attentive, and the Captain was charming. We highly recommend it!

The Adirondack harbor cruise provided a relaxing view of the New York City - New Jersey shoreline and a wonderful view of Lady Liberty at night.

The Best
Fri, Jun 30, 06   6:00 PM raiford Male 60-69 Domestic Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
The sailing was the best because of the manner it was run by the captain and crew. It was not done as the typical "tour", just a very relaxed atmosphere allowing the passengers to see it all from the water without having to hear a guide describing all of the details. The view says it all and lets the passengers decide what they want to see, there is plenty of time to take pictures of Lady Liberty and the other wonderful sights. And the captain has a wonderful personality and sense of humor and answered all questions asked of him about the Adirondack as well as the sights. My soulmate and I thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience, we are both victims of the same type of incurable cancer, but never once did either of us give cancer a thought. She is from CA and I am from FL, we take as many "vacations" together as we can afford, she used to live in the NYC area many years ago after coming from Chile. We did take a couple of other tours that gave us a chance (esp. myself) to learn about Manhattan and to experience the city upclose and personal, but the highlight of our entire trip (well, the 2nd highlight to our being together) was most certainly the sunset sail aboard the Adirondack. She is still raving about it and both of us will tell everyone we know who might visit NYC that no matter what they might choose to do as tourists, it will be mandatory to take your sailing. Well done!! And what a coincidence that the next day we were atop the Empire State Building and I spotted the Chelsea Piers. We kept looking closely and yep, there you were, just entering the harbor for another sailing. I questioned that it might be another schooner and she let me know quickly that it was NOT another boat, it was the Adirondack. Indeed it was your magnificant schooner. Thanks to the Captain and all of the Crew for their hard work and their courtesy to make our vacation even more memorable. We WILL return. Olen and Tricia

Three trips so far, always enjoyable. The sights are of course as good as it gets. The crew is attentive, yet laid back and humorous. One appreciates the fact that the crew does not feel compelled to point out every building or site worthy of notice.

We arrived early as requested it was alittle chilly that night. It would have been better to wait on the ship and serve drinks as we waited to depart. We would have been more comfortable and you guys would have possiblly made alittle more money from the drinks being served. I bought a bottle of wine and I felt rushed. Otherwise, a nice little trip!

It was the most fun I ever had. It was enjoyable and relaxing. The wine was great. Enjoyed the atmosphere. The host was incredible. I would recommend that everyone try the wine cruise. It would be one that they would never forget. I am planning to go on another one.
