A Perfect Sail

The Sunset Sail was wonderful. The breeze was perfect, at 5 - 10 knots. A local sailing club was having a regatta, and so the harbor was full of sailboats, like white butterflies turning golden in the setting sun. A gorgeous orange, pink, and lilac sunset was happening just as we passed the Statue of Liberty. As we headed home a big yellow full moon arose over the city, and behind us the memorial lights from the World Trade Center site lit up the sky. A memorable evening evening, indeed.

The Only Choice

My girlfriend and I went on the around Manhattan brunch cruise on a Saturday morning, and it was great. There were only 6 other people on the boat, so there was plenty of space. The food was good, service great and mimosas plentiful. When we passed the Circle Line boats with hundreds of people jammed shoulder-to-shoulder, we felt very lucky to be on this boat. All the extra space, food and drinks probably cost only about $20 more - a definite bargain!

Great way to spend a Saturday

I brought a group of Manhattanites and a few Queens folk for good measure. We had a blast and enjoyed going out to sea for a couple hours. Very relaxing and went by too quickly. Very nice crew let us do our thing but made sure we enjoyed ourselves, had enough space, and had a cold beer in hand if that is what we wanted. Great diversion.

This was an extremely enjoyable way to spend a few hours. Allows you to see "the woods for the trees" in this huge city.

Peter, the captain, and the crew were great! Very friendly and offered information without a running diatribe on the sites along the river.

Birthday present...

My boyfriend had never sailed on a large sailboat so I decided to surprise him for his birthday. It was a lovely lovely experience. The boat is BEAUTIFUL and every seat was a perfect seat. The crew were so polite and made the experience very relaxing and enjoyable. They offered drinks of all kinds which was a lovely touch. I take the Staten Island ferry EVERY day so wasn't sure I would see anything new but I was very wrong.....The view from the sailboat is FAR more exciting! And, we got up quite close to the Statue of Liberty. We always felt very safe as the crew were confident. I really recommend this trip to all! The cost of the ride was also very reasonable.....particularly for what you get!!!!! Thanks again!!! I've already booked some rides for my parents!

We had a wonderful sail. Our only complaint is that the sail is a bit short. 3 hours would probably be perfect.

not enough food and drinks, crew was not prepared for that many guests. Besides that, the trip was nice and is recommendable, beautiful views

Amazing New York experience for a family

I had been on the Adirondack schooner several times, and this time I decided to take my family on the Manhattan as a fun family outing. There were seven of us, including two little girls, ages 3 and 6. Everyone had a blast! It was a cool, crisp, early fall day, and the views were beautiful. The kids loved counting the bridges we passed as we traveled the Hudson River, the Harlem River, the East River, and back around to Chelsea Piers. And they loved waving at all the other boats passing us by. The adults loved the views of the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building, the U.N., the Brooklyn Bridge, and of course, the incredibly close-up view of the Statue of Liberty. The brunch was just right, the crew was super-friendly and helpful, and it was just an all around wonderful time. Having lived in New York most of my life, I don't hesitate at all in saying it was one of the most fun things to do in New York. Thanks for making it a great time for my family and me!

It was a nice get-a-way from the city, the staff was friendly and the sail had amazing views of NYC and NJ! I can not wait to do it again.

I love getting out on the water. Crew was extremely friendly, the boat was comfortable, (simple) beverages provided, even blankets when the wind picks up (but bring a jacket if it's cool.) Highly enjoyable experience.

Weather not great, but enjoyed the cruise and crew
Sun, Sep 10, 06   6:00 PM psbklyn Female Unspecified Combination Other
The weather was overcast and gray, but my friend and I had a nice time, nonetheless. I felt very confident in the captain and crew. The one downer was a loud and rather overbearing female passenger at the back of the boat. As it is not easy to change places on the boat once the ride has begun, passengers can get stuck next to a loud, discourteous fellow passenger talking about her wedding plans, how much her rent is, etc.
