Excellent value and great fun under sail

Repeat visit, booked before we left the UK and it did not dissappoint. Adirondack last year, Imagine this; friendly helpful skippers, efficent, cheerful crew and maximum time under sail. I recommend these guys thoroughly.

Lower Hudson & Statue of Liberty

We had a glorious day for sailing on Saturday, August 23, 2008. We boarded the Imagine right on time, with about 2/3 of us sitting on the edge of the cabin, with our feet towards the lifelines (railings) at the edge of the boat, and 1/3 on upholstered seats in the cockpit. There was plenty of room for the crew to pass between us and the lifelines to do their sailing work. One passenger had a cane, and the crew helped two people with small roller-bags by loading the bags. The boarding is not difficult, but is similar to climbing a step-stool and then across a very small gap to the deck. There was a stiff wind from the South, so we had to tack all the way to the Statue of Liberty, which we got right "in front" of, before turning to run (i.e. "before the wind") back to Chelsea Piers. The web site holds out the possibility to (and does NOT promise to) go as far as the Brooklyn Bridge, time and weather permitting. But because it took 1 1/2 hours to get to Ellis and Liberty Islands, there was no hope of passing close by the "Waterfall" sculptures in the East River, as I had hoped we would. I had to be content with a long distance view of the two most southerly "Waterfalls". The crew offered soft drinks, Budweiser, and Coors Light four or five times. As mentioned in their literature, I had brought our own pretzels and cheese, because we hadn't had lunch. The ship was extremely clean and comfortable, the crew pleasant and helpful, and we were back close to the appointed time. It was a wonderful outing.

A Great View of New York

This trip can leave one at a loss for words. We cleared the tip of Manhattan and set sail through the area with fantastic views of the city skyline along with Ellis Island and New Jersey. Refreshments were available and served by the crew. We were on the 6:00 PM sunset tour and were fortunate enough to have a gorgeous evening with mostly clear skies. One couldn't have a more relaxing evening with beautiful surroundings. The ship was in great shape and the crew very accomplished. We hope to catch up with them in wintertime in The Keys.

Best NYC Harbor Cruise

My third time aboard the yacht Manhattan, from Classic Harbor LInes, a beautiful replica 1920s commuter. She's about 80 feet long with ample seating indoors and on the foredeck. This company is extremely well run and also offers two schooners. There is no better way to see New York Harbor.

"I love New York" moment

The Waterfalls are probably more interesting to see at night, but we were VERY pleased with the whole experience! The boat itself was absolutely LOVELY....fresh flowers on the tables, beautiful background music, intimate....staff were very nice and friendly. Highly recommended to locals in need of a fresh perspective...

Loved the City Lights Tour

We decided to take a romantic, city lights with waterfalls tour after dark for our first wedding anniversary. It did not disappoint. The tour is a full 1-1/2 hours, and the vessel is very comfortable. While the weather when we went was perfect (surely the tour didn't arrange the weather!), even on a hot night the water and wind from the boat moving through the water would be cooling. Just being able to sit (or stand) without needing to do anything else and look at the water and lights was very relaxing. The lights of NYC are beautiful from the water, as well as the beautifully lit bridges. Seeing the waterfalls was fun and, although I did not expect to be impressed by them, they were rather interesting. The complimentary champagne/beer/wine might have been the only disappointment, as I thought these would be complimentary throughout the cruise. I did not notice in the cruise description "first round only complimentary champagne/beer/wine". It turns out only the "first round" was complimentary. When my husband went to get a beer after we'd each had one glass of champagne (we aren't big drinkers) he was informed that only the first round was complimentary and was asked to pay $4 for a beer. A little stiff, imo, as a 6 pack costs only around $8. However, a small flaw in an otherwise very nice, relaxing evening. I would go again and recommend it to anyone wanting a different view of the city. Plus, the sky, moon and stars were very visible from the water and that's not something you generally see when you're in the City. Nice staff, as well. When I couldn't figure out how to hold both glasses of champagne to go outside (and join my husband) the first mate offered to take them out for me.

We took four out-of-town family members on this delightful trip. Just the right length and the right amount of info on a beautiful boat.

Even If You Don't Like the Waterfalls
Sat, Aug 16, 08   2:30 PM babsdennis Female 50-59 Local Family Without Children
The Waterfalls Cruise was a great way to spend a summer afternoon boating on the river. The boat wasn't too crowded. There was complimentary drinks. The view of the city going down the west side and up the east side couldn't possibly be better. I liked the waterfalls, but even if there hadn't been a waterfall it would have been great. I've been twice.

I signed up to see the waterfalls installation on the East River. It was a beautiful day and the boat was very comfortable. The complimentary champagne was a nice touch. Gracious crewmembers on this motoryacht. I now plan to take a schooner cruise around NY harbor.
