the sunset sailboat cruise was one of the best things we did in NYC. it was so quiet and relaxing. the crew and captain were SO nice and were full of interesting information about sailing and the city.

Amazing! Highly recommend for couples.

It was as close to a perfect night as you can get. The only drawback was the rowdy bunch behind us that mistook this cruise for a booze trip, but the captain did a good job of keeping them in line. The crew was very polite and professional and went out of their way to make us comfortable. It is an amazing way to see the city lights though. When they shut the motor down & raise the sails it becomes this magical journey as you slowly float down the Hudson towards the harbor. So silent and still, its easy to forget there are other people on the boat and just relax with that special someone you brought with you. And since you are closer to the water than on other boats and there are no glaring deck lights, its a much more intimate experience. I would highly recommend taking this cruise with a significant other and bringing a small dessert to share while sipping champagne.

Fantastic, highly recommended experience

Great experience for a great price. Sailing around New York Harbor for two hours, relaxing, taking in the amazing views, and being served wine/champagne/beer all for $50 per person. Great, friendly, knowledgeable staff. Close to the top of the list of things I've done in NY price aside, but even higher on the list when considering the value proposition.

best way to relax after a hard tourist day!

I easily booked this sail cruise from home, before getting to NYC. It was a birthday presend for my girlfriend, and I briefly stated it on the comments during the reservation process. We did a 7 to 9 pm sunset cruise. We were very lucky to get an excellent weather, it must be said, but our both overall impression was just great. Really. A am not a sailorman, but I like to sail. I like the sea. It was not the firs sailing experience for me. For my fiancée, yes. And she usually suffers of seasickness.. oh my.. We were welcomed aboard by the friendly captain and two smiling young helpers. We seated on the deck, instead than in the back. After some short and funny safety instructions, we started sailing by engine. The boat is really a nice one. I'm not an expert, but is a big one, wooden deck, elegant, two "trees" (?). It was stable with little rolling all the time, no risk of seasickness at all. ..ffffiuuu... the tour starts from the west side of Manhattan, goes south to Liberty island, and back. not under any bridge, pity. About 60% was sailing, the rest by engine. The captain is a nice guy: at the middle of the sail, he loudly called my girl's name, and called for a birthday song! All the people there (about 20, all from US, and must say, pretty well dressed compared to us... :-) started to sing and welcome her. She really was truly amazed, and happy! It was a surprise for me to. A very kind one. The two guys on board, pretty expert sailers, a boy and a girl, were really going on 150% to do the sailing duties, and taking care of all us. They repetedly offered drinks, always gently. The website says it is not an alcohol-driven experience, but they were not saving it.. i.e, we (ehm.. me...) had a couple of cold beers, a glass of sparkling wine, and plenty of water. Others had more, or different. This is not what makes the difference, but I must say it was more than I expected. What was best is spending a couple of hours in the fresh breeze (not cold at all), after a long day sightsteen around, with great views and a very friendly atmosphere, either by yourself of chatting with the rest of the people. Although I never tried a dining cruise - another classic option - I would say it is greater then it: there the boats a way bigger, with many more people, loud live music, maybe limited view outboard and eventually the noise of the engines. This is, all at all, my personal opinion. At the end: a very peacefull, gentle, but fun and rewarding experience. Great for couples on a date or a particular event - an italian friend of mine would call it a ..."stendi-gnocca experience" (up to you to find what it means... ). Very good for visitors to end the day just before dinner, fun for a little group of tranquill friends. Anytime is excellent: but living the sunset onboard was special. The night cruise must be great as well. just remember a sweather.

Would have been better with narration of the sight

The ride was very enjoyable. It would have been more so for out of towners if there were some narration. A pre-recorded description coordinated with the significent sights would have been helpful.

Simply wonderful experience

I actually used these reviews to chose this activity, I am so glad I did. My wife and I had the best experience viewing Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty from the water. The staff was awesome. I would not consider this a "tour" as the crew really just let's you enjoy the sail, they don't talk or describe the sights (personally I liked that). It was the highlight of our trip to NYC.

The cruise was wonderful. I took my girlfriend on it for her birthday and we had a great time. It wasn't overcrowded and other guests were quiet and friendly. The girls who served on the ship were fantastic - their service was impeccable. Overall it was a great experience.

This was our second time on this cruise. Wonderful time, excellent value. The crew is knowledgeable and helpful although the Captain could have done a better job pointing out some of the landmarks to some of the folks who were from out of town. A small PA system would be helpful to those in the front of the ship.

This trip was awesome. It is perfect for a couple on a date or a group of friends. Once the engines are off and the sails are up, it's a very peaceful and quiet view of the busy city. I highly recommend.

We really enjoyed the boat ride althought the Waterfalls are truly uneventful. We would do it again just for the boat ride!
