Nice but overrated

| I enjoyed the cruise, but the brunch could have been a lot better. The captain talked too much about the sights and it became a little annoying and loud. Felt like a carnival cruise. The sights were nice and If these few things changed it would have been lovely. | ||||||

Birthday Date
|
|||||

| It was a really great experience! My boyfriend and I took this sail for my birthday, right after a Broadway play and right before dinner. It was absolutely the perfect middle to a perfect date. The crew was really friendly and accommodating. There were three rounds of drinks (champagne, wine, or beer), and my boyfriend really enjoyed the local Long Island lager they offered. The pace was just right; not too fast and not too slow. Just enough to enjoy the Manhattan and Jersey skylines (Lady Liberty wasn't such a bad treat either). It was supposed to rain that day, but luckily it didn't. Though naively, my other half and I thought 72 degrees on land would be 72 degrees on the water. Bring a light coat, sweater, or windbreaker, even if its scheduled to be hot that day. Overall, it was a wonderful activity that I recommend to all my friends, and one that I am anxious to try again. | ||||||

| I bought 2 tickets for my boyfriend's birthday. While the weather was overcast, we still had a fabulous time! The captain and crew were perfect - not overly enthusiastic, willing to answer questions, interacted with the group - just overall fantastic! They serve 3 rounds of drinks and you're encouraged to bring your own picnic as there are no snacks. It was a super delightful trip and I hope to go again soon!!! | ||||||

| This was one of the highlights on our week in NYC. We enjoyed seeing Manhattan from the waterfront, the many bridges, the parks, Gracie Mansion (spelling??), the Statue of Liberty, East River and Harlem River. The crew was attentive and would give detailed answers to questions. Captain Mary Pat was especially nice. Our group was only about 28 so crowding was never a problem and access to the small buffet table was always easy. The boat is beautifully maintained. | ||||||

| We really enjoyed our trip around Manhattan. We got really close to the Statue of Liberty and the NYC skyline was incredible. The crew was very personable and informative about the history of New York. Also, I left my camera on the boat and I called about an hour later to ask if they found it. One of the staff members found the camera and actually brought it to us at a restaurant several blocks away. We were so impressed with the thoughtfulness! | ||||||

Rain dates

| I was very disapppointed that although it was raining, we were not refunded our tickets or given the option to sail another day. I have taken this tour before, and enjoyed it very much. However I am not sure what you consider "severe weather" but the boat was soaked and the rain was not letting up . And after rain fall all weekend, I assumed that we would at least been given the opportunity to book another date to sail. The woman at the ticket counter said we would not be refunded and we would be be able to pick another date. After I expressed my disappointment, she said there was another boat going out a little bit later and it was covered, however, I explained that we wanted to sail on the schooner, not a ferry like boat. I insisted that my friends and I purchase the tickets in advance to ensure spots on the boat, so there were 4 of us total that took a loss. And given that the representative was not accomodating, it will be hard for me to convice our group to try to attempt this again. | ||||||

| My wife, daughter, and son-in-law, and i spent a 4 day week-end in New York. It rained most of the afternoon but that didn't have any impact on the cruise. There were only 12 people total, so we had a lot of food and attention. It exceded expectation in every way, and we had a great time with the other passengers. The crew couldn't have been any better. Thanks. Pat Pritchard Dayton, Ohio | ||||||

| Really enjoyed this experience with my husband and daughter. Totally relaxing, hard working and enthusiastic crew. Avoid the champagne, which was totally disgusting, but the wine was fine and the beer even better. | ||||||

| I am an Englishman living in New York and took my visiting parents (who had never been to NYC before) on the sunset sail. It was excellent, great views of the city skyline, Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. The crew was very welcoming too and the boat was the perfect size. For the price, including 3 rounds of drinks, I couldn't have asked for better value for money. The parents loved it too, which was the main thing. Therefore, I recommend this for any travelling group, or even native New Yorkers who may never had done such a trip before. | ||||||

| The sail was fantastic! We totally lucked out. The forecast for the weekend was supposed to be really crummy, but the sun came out and we had a great sunset cruise. The winds could have been a little stronger, but that was nothing we could control. Overall it was a great experience and I would absolutely recommend it! | ||||||

| The SailNYC experience is first rate from the front desk staff to the courteous crew and knowledgeable and well-keeled captain (Captain Kat- my wife and daughtersgirls couldn't stop talking about you all the way home!). We appreciated the call to alert us about the impending departure as we hastily found parking and once we were on the schooner, we knew we were in for a unique experience. The Adirondack is an excellent vessel, seaworthy and handcrafted with care and precision. The views of New York City and Jersey City made for wonderful photo-ops and I was thrilled as my family members steered the ship (under the captain's nurturing guidance). My wife was so taken by the experience , she was seriously considering to come back for the sunset tour for that same day! The weather was ideal and the friendly crew was ready to serve drinks and dispense information in a gracious manner. Overall, a delightful way to spent time in the city and build lasting memories. | ||||||

| I was so happy we decided to take the cruise around Manhattan. It was my first trip to NY and I was only there for the weekend. I wanted to see as much as I can without feeling like it was a huge whirlwind trip. The crew was very nice and accomodating to everyone on board. The captain was also very detailed in describing landmarks and providing historical information about the sites along the way around the harbor. I also enjoyed the buffet! Everything was tasty. The only negative is I think they tell you to be there way too early. Since you don't board until 5 minutes before teh boat leaves the dock. I would do it again! | ||||||
