| We really enjoyed the Day Sail out past the Statue of Liberty. It was relaxing, refreshing, and beautiful. Our whole group, even the ones who seemed hesitant about boats, had a great time. The staff was super friendly and supportive. Thanks again, Scott Levy - Eastern Effects, Inc. - Brooklyn, NY | ||||||

| This was our first trip to New York and the best part of the trip... There were only 10 customers on the boat so we felt like it was a private charter...Staff was engaging and always had a cold beer ready for us. The kids had a great time and felt like they were on a pirate ship. Up close views of the city and the Statue of Liberty were fantastic. Highly recommend this for a harbor cruise vs. a big cattle call type of cruise boat. Thank you. | ||||||

| although we realize we really lucked out as there were only six passengers and one captain and two crew members that day it was a fabulous experience that we will do again and again. not having to compete with a crowd made the experience feel like we chartered a private sailboat for the two hours. the captain and crew were enthusiastic and considerate. we were grateful for the beverages (would love if wine could have been part of the choice though) . we appreciated their knowledge for the area/buildings, etc. (my husband works in nyc/nbc) so he was more familiar with the territory than me. the crew did their job and took great pride in their jobs. although i'm sure we won't have that kind of luck again (so few passengers) we look forward to sailing again and again and again. it truly was a fantastic experience for both of us. (it was a gift certificate from a friend to acknowledge my 50th birthday and our 26th wedding anniversary). our kind of gift!! can't wait to sail again. thank you. sincerely, jeanne and rick fox | ||||||

Great team experience in spite of the rain

| We had a group of about 20 people from different areas of the corporation marketing, finance, operations, IT and outside consultants who have been working on a project together for about 6 -9 months. We scheduled the cruse as an opportunity for all of us to get together outside the work environment and see a side a NYC that many of us had never seen before, even the ones who live here. We were apprehensive about the forecasted 20-30% probability for rain. We debated whether to try to reschedule or not but finally decided that there was no guarantee of ever picking a day with 0% chance of rain. In the end we decided to trust the judgment of the very professional crew who do this for a living. They monitor the weather with radar. If they decided the weather was too bad they would cancel the trip. Five of our group wimped out and stayed home. They missed a great experience! Sure enough it did start to drizzle on us about the time we were getting ready to leave. But the crew provided everyone with some very attractive yellow rain coats (Large only, no XLs or petites). It continue to drizzle for about the first half of the trip but that didn't dampen our spirits. If anything it added to the experience and the team bonding. The wine, beer and Champaign probably helped :-) Then the rain stopped. We had a great view of the Statue of Liberty and the lights of NY & NJ. It was beautiful. The experience of sailing into the wind on a magnificent sailing yacht with the boat heeled to one side from the wind as you sail past the lights of NY was an amazing experience that none of us will ever forget. I can't say enough good things about the service we receive from the whole City Lights team from the front office that helped us plan and schedule our trip to the crew on the boat, they were all professionals. More than that, they were genuinely nice and seemed to really enjoy what they were doing. Bottom line, it was a great experience all the way around. I'm looking forward to doing it again soon. | ||||||

| I took my boyfriend to a sailboat ride for his 26th birthday, and he LOVED IT! We went on a perfect night - a warm evening and beautiful sunset. The crew was awesome - very laid back, and informative. It was a great romantic experience and would be good for anyone - any age, any gender - local or visiting. We had an awesome time and I highly recommend it! | ||||||

| Great for tourists and the locals. Crew is extremely friendly and the trip is a good duration of time. They offer wine, beer, and soda and despite what other reviewers say, the crew is always making sure you have a fresh drink in your hand. | ||||||

| I took my my mom, 2 aunts, and 2 cousins on this sail as part of a ladies day and it was just perfect. Its very relaxing, the captain and crewhands were funny and friendly, and it was nice to see the west side from the water, since I'm always on the east! Great for couples, groups, kids, or even solo. | ||||||

| This was a really relaxing, enjoyable trip with friendly, helpful crew and a great way to spend an afternoon. I took my husband for his birthday and we had a great time spotting all the landmark buildings in the skyline and had an awesome view of the Statue of LIberty. We're New Yorkers and loved seeing the city from the Hudson; we plan to take visiting family and friends out on a sail when they are in NY next. The 2 hour sail is just the right length. I HIGHLY recommend this activity, especially at this price. | ||||||

| Overall we had a pretty nice time on the trip. The day we went the weather forecast said winds were at 15-20 mph, but out on the river it was more gusty instead of steady wind, and this didn't help us sail very much. We had to use the engine about half the time, and still barely made it to the statue of liberty and back in the 2 hours. As other reviewers have mentioned, this trip is not narrated. However our captain was very outgoing and people were asking him questions the whole time. He also spent a lot of time letting the guests steer the boat and teaching them how. Try to make sure you are one of the first people to board if you want to sit in the back by the captain, where the seats have back support too. The other 2 crew members were also nice and served us 3-4 rounds of drinks. The boat was nice and new, and held about 50 people, but the biggest sail was broken and they didnt tell us until we were already out on the river and someone asked why they were not putting it up. I have now been on 2 cruises down the Hudson river, this one and a circle line sunset cruise. This one was nicer because there were less people, and I enjoyed the sailing part. If the wind was better this trip would have been perfect. | ||||||

| There's no better way to take in the NYC skyline than from the water (well maybe flying) & there's no better way to experience NYC waterways than on-board a sailboat. The schooner's are nice & comfortable, plenty of space for guests & crew (although would be better if there were fewer guests). Crew was friendly & professional & the entire trip was perfectly affordable for two hours of enjoyment. One suggestion: improve beer & wine selections on-board. | ||||||
