Best way to see the Statue of Liberty and skyline
Sun, Sep 1, 13   1:00 PM j_mccard Female 20-29 Domestic Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
This was a great way to see the NYC landmarks on a quiet, non-crowded boat ride. The captain and crew were very welcoming and seemed to enjoy their jobs. The boat is relatively small, so there aren't too many people. They serve three rounds of drinks. We brought a picnic lunch from Eataly, and it was really fun and relaxing.

Review of AIANY Around Manhatten Architecture Tour
Sun, Sep 1, 13   9:45 AM BuglerTC Male 60-69 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
Host was very knowledgeable and engaging. Very thorough overview of Manhattan, Bronx, Brooklyn and Queens shorelines. Saw sights I've never seen even though I grew in nearby Connecticut. Boat ride was pleasant, food was satisfactory, small group (20-25) people was appropriate for size of boat and allowed for interaction between host and guests. AIA/CES Learning Units was a plus.

A Circle Line for Adult Architecture Lovers
Sun, Sep 1, 13   9:45 AM mariafisher Female 50-59 Local Couple on a Date
For those who love New York and also love architecture this boat trip is a perfect half-day excursion. You will learn the names and architects/engineers of dozens and dozens of the finest buildings and major bridges in the city. We loved it start to finish. The architect/commentator was knowledgable and personable. One restriction: I'd not recommend it to kids under 14, unless they are really into architecture.

A great way to spend time on the water in a beautiful boat with a knowledgeable guide to all those buildings you've been wondering about. Excellent crew and comestibles.

Well-informed and enjoyable trip

Really liked the level of detail provided by the informative tour guide. As non-architects, we could have done without the name of the designer of each building, but we understand that you tour also attracts specialist/professional architects

Fun boat ride and great crew

Went with 6 friends. We had a great time, it's a cool small 1920s style party boat. We did Statue of Liberty including around the back (which bigger boats can't do,) and on to Brooklyn bridge. Nice crew and you get a nice big cup of wine for $5. They have a choice if several wines and also beers. Small so it only holds about 20 people tops I think. Would be great to charter for a private party!

Thoroughly enjoyed our trip on the Hudson - a fun, stress-free way to spend an afternoon. Will take another trip in the fall at night to see the skyline and the Statue of Liberty.

What a wonderful boat ride!!

I took my 10 year old nephew for the boat ride from Hoboken on a beautiful Saturday afternoon. The 90 minute ride was top notch from the start to the finish. The two crew - the captain and his associate/bartender/overall great lady were so engaging that it made the trip even more enjoyable. Having been use to paying an arm and a leg to be on a large boat packed solid and not enjoy the ride to this "intimate" setting of 20 - 30 people was so refreshing. Loved it and loved being able to walk around the boat and see the gorgeous sites from all angles. I have already told other members of my family that we need to do a family ride in the very near future!

It was interesting but not too enlightening
Sat, Aug 31, 13   1:45 PM Rcmelm Female 70+ Local Family Without Children
The architect who spoke overused several terms, including "fantastic," which wasn't very helpful. She could have elaborated and used more detail. I had understood that usually two architects took turns describing the sights, and it would have been better to have two speakers with different emphases. The boat had air conditioning nominally, but it had apparently not been turned on until we boarded so it was hot. It was so bad that people ended up opening the windows which helped at first but eventually it got even hotter. I wanted to know where King Bridge had once been and she had no idea. The staff was nice, and she was able to describe the buildings clearly so we knew exactly which ones were her focus. If you haven't taken any boat trips around Manhattan this would be fun, but for locals who have done the circle line trips, it didn't add enough information to make it worth while.

too expensive
Sat, Aug 31, 13   1:00 PM MarionJuffi Female 20-29 Local Couple on a Date
For that trip that where the captain said from the first minute he will not explain anything I think its way too expensive. I will not recommend it because I think for shipping on a sailboat for 2 hours and 100 dollar not again sry

This tour was great! I have lived in NYC for over 10 years and I feel like I have a much greater appreciation for the architecture of my hometown after the tour. The guide was knowledgeable and answered all of our questions. I especially enjoyed the ride along the Harlem River. I recommend this for both locals and tourists!

Informative and fun!

My husband, our two teen boys and I really enjoyed the AIA architecture boat tour around Manhattan. Our tour guide, an intern architect, provided great historical, zoning, building, social and engineering information. She was quick to answer people's questions. The vintage boat was perfect for the tour and it was refreshing to see the NYC area from a different perspective. The boat staff was friendly and helpful and provided superb service. We'd highly recommend it!
