Great time on this ship

In spite of the fog and mist, the captain and crew did a great job making this tour fun and enjoyable. The captain especially was informative and personable, and the people we sailed with in the group were great. I would recommend this kind of tour around the harbour for anyone wanting a slower view of the NYC skyline and the Statue of Liberty.

We went out on a rainy day - the staff was so nice and accommodating with blankets, ponchos, etc. They were very professional and relaxed and made it a very enjoyable trip.

My sister did an AIA tour of Chicago and thought it would be a fun thing to do in NYC. We ranged in age from 84 to 20 and our group of 7 were all equally delighted with the tour. From the moment we arrived at Chelsea Pier and were guided to the ticket booth by a very, very nice gentleman, then met the very delightful lady at the ticket booth, it was just perfect. Our guide was so informative and entertaining. The captain and crew on the boat were accommodating and quite lovely. I must have missed something in the information about the trip because the food and wine were an unexpected and very nice surprise (where in the world did the raspberries come from?). I come to New York 4 - 5 times per year and rarely do anything "touristy". This was far and away one of the best things I have ever done and I want to do it again in the fall to see the colors in upper Manhattan and again in the late fall or early spring when more of the buildings/landscape are visible. Will highly, highly recommend.

excellent Architect/guide; lovely boat and service

Even a foggy day that obscured the tops of the tallest buildings didn't "rain on our parade." Our architect/guide was so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the buildings and their histories, the firms, the architectural styles and periods, and shared wonderful anecdotes about what we were seeing plus the machinations of power v. the quest for the "common good" that has and is continuing to mold New York. And keep an out out for the Little Red Lighthouse almost hidden under the "great gray bridge." The wine was nice, too.

Not as I thought it would be.

I really wanted to go on this excursion but I was really disappointed that other than the Statue of Liberty, I had no idea what anything was. It didn't need to have constant narration but I wanted to know what I was seeing. When we got back my cousin asked what we saw and truthfully, I had no idea! I have taken lots of these trips all over the world and recently, I just took one out of San Diego and I loved the narrator and narration and I can tell people exactly what I saw. I probably wont tell my two good friends who are heading to NYC in June to do this tour.

Great way to see the City from another perspective - a rest from traffic and noise. Well worth the price and time.

Very Informative Waterfront Tour of Manhattan.

I found this tour to be a Very Informative Waterfront Tour of Manhattan aboard a Yacht. There were about 30 people onboard so there was a great deal of room to move about to see the sights. On this tour there was a very educated historian that provided a view by view description of what we were seeing on the shore. the Crew of 3 - (Captain and 2 Mates) were very helpful and great to deal with. When I purchased the tickets I was unsure if this would be a good return on my investment - but after the fact I would do this again because it was a very good tour.

What an amazing perspective of NYC...

What a great way to see New York City and to learn the history of not just Manhattan Island, but the architecture that makes it iconic. The boat Manhattan sets the stage with its 1920's style and more intimate size. In addition to all the bridges and skyscrapers, the tour includes great views of the United Nations, Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, and the skyline of the World Trade Center. Seeing the city from land just doesn't do it justice.

A must-do when in NYC!

This excellent cruise included running commentary provided by an AIA member who was highly linformative and alerted us to Manhattan buildings and bridges with plenty of historical background as well. Our guide's history of some of the infrastructure was very interesting . The boat seats 90 and is very comfortable. Fruit salad, cheeses, cake, coffee/wine and beer were served during the afternoon. We were blessed with a sunny day which made the experience even better. Circumnavigating Manhattan provides a much greater appreciation of the vast number and variety of its buildings and bridges.

Absolutely thrilling!

My husband and I are experienced sailors so the idea of being able to go out sailing in an 80-foot schooner was exciting in and of itself. However, we truly underestimated what an exceptional experience it would be. If you want a narrated, motorized touristy cruise around the harbor, this is not the cruise for you. However, if you would like a quiet but exhilarating sail to see the statue of liberty, the skyline of Manhattan, great views of the new world trade center building under construction, Frank Gehry's building, the bridges, Ellis Island, the pier area, and in our case an incredibly beautiful sunset , well, this is the trip for you. And I haven't even mentioned the local ales, champagne, wine, and other libations that are offered several times during the sail. I would do this again in a heartbeat. If you are a New Yorker and haven't done this yet, you owe it to yourself. If you a visitor, get familiar with a map of some of the things you can see from the water. Then go on this sail. You'll have much more fun identifying those land marks yourself than having a bull horn blasting at you about this and that attraction. The crew is very capable, safety conscious, and very personable. They added to the fun but were not intrusive. It can be very romantic for a couple, or it can be great fun for a group of people. Trust me, you want to add this to your bucket list!

Experienced skipper and crew made this memorable
Mon, May 5  6:30 PM pearsda3 Male 50-59 Local Group of Friends
Skipper Kat and her crew delivered a perfect performance with a little help from the weather gods. Smooth sailing... reached 7 knots with all three sails raised. Biggest surprise: the melodic chiming of the green channel buoy.
