Fab must-do in New York

The cruise was so beautiful. We were on the sunset cruise and once we got out on the water and the captain turned the motor of, it was heaven. The captain was especially nice and the crew very efficient. It's going to be on my list of things to tell visitors to New York to do.

My husband and I sailed with a group of about 20 people to celebrate the birthday of a sailing enthusiast. The weather was fine for a sail, the birthday boy got to steer the boat, and a swell time was had by all.

Beautiful way to see NYC

Seeing New York's skyline from the water offers us a wonderful perspective that we don't often get to have. Viewing New York at twilight, with everything lit up is just a treat. It reminds us all of why we live here! We got to see the 4 temporary waterfalls (albeit from a distance) in lower Manhattan, which we had also been wanting to do. The captain, who had been our host last year, when we had done this same trip with some of the same friends, was informative and we enjoyed his wry sense of humor.

It felt like we were on a short vacation! I highly suggest getting to the pier early and grabbing a drink outdoors before getting on the boat....it will extend the amount of time you feel like you're away from the big city! The boat was beautiful and and the weather was perfect! Also, the staff is very knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful.

My boyfriend and I have lived in New York for years, but we still enjoy the touristy things from time to time. Viewing our city in a different light can be very refreshing. He loves boats and sailing, so i surprised him with a sunset schooner cruise. I didn't want to take him on a larger boat which is essentially a floating room. the schooner was fun and exciting...the staff were great, friendly and funny, and the drinks were just enough (i think they offered 3 rounds) AND it was nice to get away from the 90 degree weather... Loved it., would go again.

New York at Its Best!
New York City Waterfalls & Champagne Cruise

Was it luck or was it the way it was meant to be? The day was dazzling! The crew was charming! The views from the boat, the Manhattan, were spectacular! I had booked a July cruise date with the SailNYC company to see the Four Waterfalls exhibit for friends of mine in from Ohio. The idea of viewing this once-in-a-lifetime installation from on the water appealed to the native New Yorker in me. Unexpectedly, by taking this boat cruise, my friends and I got to see the exhibit from many different angles as we motored south out of the Hudson River and up north into the East River and then eventually turned around and went south on the East River to return back to the dock. The pace of the 90-minute cruise was perfect. The captain and crew was attentive, funny and casual. The Manhattan is a good-looking, good-sized sturdy boat and it was an intimate way to travel on the rivers. The passengers were a neat mix of families, couples, one or two noticeable photobugs and just travelers! The champagne was a marvelous addition and you could see how it contributed to a expectation of "New York calm and class." We motored down the Hudson, slowing down to take in the Battery, the Ellis Island and of course, the Statue of Liberty views. On the East River, when we came to each waterfall, the captain took an even more leisurely pace. The waterfall underneath the Brooklyn Bridge was ultimately the most impressive, although the effort, the placement and the concept of the four different waterfalls is praiseworthy. However, I must add that the real winner is Manhattan. After forty years in this city, views of this island still amaze me. How's that for a review?

A great way to spend a Sunday afternoon. Crew were warm, friendly, highly professional and well-informed. The 90-minute length of the ride is just perfect. Wish we could have gone a bit closer to the falls but it was a VERY windy day, so perhaps that was the reason. The arrival time (20-30 minutes before) is a bit too far ahead as the boarding gate does not open until 5 minutes before the departure time and the waiting area is hot and crowded. Once on the water, however, heaven in your hat!

The crew was really nice, free drinks all around, and great views of the city. If you like sailing, it's a very nice little cruise for the money.

This is a hidden gem in NYC. I'm a local, but thoroughly enjoy the day sailing trips through SailNYC. Albeit a bit touristy, it's really not - the crew doesn't crack cheesy jokes or bother you with announcements. They man the boat and let you enjoy the beautiful views and an ice cold beer. Highly recommend this trip - a great price and a lovely way to spend an afternoon in New York.

Fun Sail. Go on a Windy Day.

Well run day sail around NY Harbor. Captain paid special attention to two 10 or 11 year boys, letting them man the helm while he stood next to them. Good service from two other crew members. Lots of fun in a steady 20mph wind out of the SSW.

The boat and staff was excellent. I have recommended this to family and friends based on our pleasant experience. Thanks for making such a nice tour! P.S We didn't even have any champagne and it was still outstanding!
