My partner and I's first time in New York could not have started on a better note. We got on this beautiful wooden sail boat with a mix of locals and visitors like us. The group was the perfect size: quiet to enjoy the sound of the water and easy to talk to others & ship crew who were happy to answer all our questions.
The selection of local beers, wine and champagne made the experience so relaxing and sophisticated. The sail was absolutely delightful. The amazing view of Manhattan only got us more excited about our upcoming days of NY trip.We slowly sailed to the Statue of Liberty which allowed us to take amazing photos with the flattering light of the sunset. I really could not have asked for a better experience, and I would strongly recommend it to people who want to experience something unique and romantic in New York. |

I do not remember our captains name but she was friendly pleasant and good. Her command of the schooner was great the wind was rather light and we had to motor a bit but when she could she caught the wind I was impressed with how she read the wind and put us here to catch it George from the crew was very personable.
I was so very impressed i would reccomened this to any and all who are looking for something a little different to do
thanks for a wonderful time |

My wife and I were in NYC for a week. We sailed on the Adirondack. There was a gentle breeze and we enjoyed the sail. I have some great up close pictures of the Statue of Liberty and the several other sail boats and ships in the harbor. The sun set on queue over Jersey City. We met two other couples and were well served by the crew. My wife appreciated the loaner blanket since it was cool. Watching the young lads jumping up and down to hoist the sails was a treat in its own right. Our biggest challenge was finding the entrance to the building (where it passes through to the pier), but that was not that big of a deal. |

After skipping out once due to bad weather, my boyfriend and I took another swing and had a wonderful time aboard the Schooner Adirondack with Captain Sarah and her lovely crew. We got a great look at the statue of liberty, and the sun was hitting the building of lower Manhattan on our trip back which made for a beautiful scene. In terms of planning you'll want to check the weather forecast before you buy tickets, as the trip won't be canceled unless the weather is really severe- and your definition of severe weather may not be on par with the opinion of a pro. Also be sure to bundle up- I wore heavy jeans, three shirts under a sweatshirt, gloves, and I was still a bit chilled. It gets quite windy out there, but that's part of the fun! You may want to bring something to snack on with the complimentary champagne, and bring some extra cash so you can tip the crew on your way out (they earned it!). |

It was a really great experience! My boyfriend and I took this sail for my birthday, right after a Broadway play and right before dinner. It was absolutely the perfect middle to a perfect date. The crew was really friendly and accommodating. There were three rounds of drinks (champagne, wine, or beer), and my boyfriend really enjoyed the local Long Island lager they offered. The pace was just right; not too fast and not too slow. Just enough to enjoy the Manhattan and Jersey skylines (Lady Liberty wasn't such a bad treat either). It was supposed to rain that day, but luckily it didn't. Though naively, my other half and I thought 72 degrees on land would be 72 degrees on the water. Bring a light coat, sweater, or windbreaker, even if its scheduled to be hot that day. Overall, it was a wonderful activity that I recommend to all my friends, and one that I am anxious to try again. |

I was very disapppointed that although it was raining, we were not refunded our tickets or given the option to sail another day. I have taken this tour before, and enjoyed it very much. However I am not sure what you consider "severe weather" but the boat was soaked and the rain was not letting up . And after rain fall all weekend, I assumed that we would at least been given the opportunity to book another date to sail. The woman at the ticket counter said we would not be refunded and we would be be able to pick another date. After I expressed my disappointment, she said there was another boat going out a little bit later and it was covered, however, I explained that we wanted to sail on the schooner, not a ferry like boat. I insisted that my friends and I purchase the tickets in advance to ensure spots on the boat, so there were 4 of us total that took a loss. And given that the representative was not accomodating, it will be hard for me to convice our group to try to attempt this again. |
