This was a birthday cruise for my partner who loves to sail, and things couldn't have been nicer... there was a fresh breeze so we raised all the sail, and it was a truly lovely time. Gorgeous weather and a beautiful sunset.
We enjoyed ourselves from the start to almost the finish....
The only wart on the entire evening is that nearing dock, the captain made an announcement to the effect that the crew depended on our tips and as we disembarked, they were standing around at the gangway with a bucket and outstretched hands. Was a bit jarring after such a beautiful moment on the water.
Honestly, if the crew is underpaid to such an extent, it's an issue legitimately between them and their employers - rather than being made to beg from the clients to make up the difference. It's not like we were sailing for free - we paid quite well for our two spots on deck- so I feel strongly that whatever extra was due the crew should have been rightfully taken from the fees that we were charged, and not added as an extortionate "surcharge".
I liked the crew, but it's this jarring feeling of having been pressured to "show our appreciation" that lingers almost as strongly as those for the fine cruise we had. |

Well we are a small family of three (and a bump) from the UK and we would have liked to have sailed in the evening but with a two year old it isn't permitted so we elected for an afternoon sail - and it was a real delight to be out on the water after an exhausting trade show at the Javits - if you are on holiday this is a must and if you live in the city, well you should also get on board! We thought it was reasonably priced - the yacht is fantastic - I guess we would have liked to explore a little more and sail for another hour or so but the two hours were very enjoyable. Staff friendly and helpful - so go get on board and enjoy! |

to escape from the hustle & bustle of manhattan.
the crew is great and respectful of those who want the serenity of being out on the water.
i've done it twice in a one month period, and will do it again.
every ny'er should do it at least once. |

We did the Sunset Cruise. Whilst still wondering if we got what we booked and paid for, as we were not put on Adirondak vessel as I thought I had booked, but on America 2 vessel, we would still recommend this sail around Lower Manhattan. Quite possibly it may have been the better choice for us anyway as the America 2 is a much bigger vessel than the Adirondak and as I found out, my adult daughter was a little unnerved by the motion of truly sailing, which have been more full on, on the smaller craft. The Captain and crew were fabulous, we were so glad to see NYC from this angle. Drinks were provided and whilst the crew would have been conscious of a Responsible Service of Alcohol, due to the nature of where we were, the replenishment of our beverages, cannot be described as stingy. Excellent, I would do this over and over again given the opportunity. Take some snacks with you to complete your experience. |

A little expensive but was perfect event for us, organizing a group as a pre-nuptial event in lieu of a shower or bachelor party. Great way for group that included people new to each other, although all were friends with the couple, who both love sailing. Were delighted that the weather smiled on us and the wonderful crew got to actually sail us a bit while taking drink orders. Pretty impressive. Customer service was also very obliging when we had to switch nights. Thanks! |

beautiful and clean schooner. great crew. free booze. awesome views. great weather. would have been perfect except it was too crowded. we dont mind meeting new people but it was hard to have a nice private conversation with my husband coz the boat was packed. so it was abit disappointing coz we were celebrating our 1st year anniversary. :( i guess this would have been better as a bigger group activity. |

My husband and I celebrated our wedding anniversary two years ago on the Adiirondack sister ship and came back this year on our 30th anniversary to sail on the America. Just a beautiful sail! It's the way to see Manhattan! To be on the open water with the sails furled is quite a wonderful experience. The staff on the ship couldn't be nicer, serving drinks, helping you on and off, and pointing out the sights. If you wish. But for the most part, it is a quiet reflective way to enjoy the city and see it from a different perspective. We'll be back again! |

This was a great tour around the whole city. Wonderful views of Statue of Liberty, Ellis Island, etc, but also the East River, Hudson River, all the bridges, Roosevelt Island, and still undeveloped land. A terrific well informed architect guide to talk about the process of building New York City and connecting it into the center of commerce it is today. Highly recommended! |

Five stars for the reception we received and the excellence of the speaker. The lecture was very informative and interesting, a great way to rediscover the major pieces of architecture in New York and other major infrastructure we did not even know it existed.
Bravo! And long life to this activity! Our speaker was excellent, keep him on board! |
