Can't-Miss Newport Activity

We were a group of 5 (two couples and a buddy), and we had such an amazing time! We girls wanted to immediately buy tickets for another sail right after we came back into the harbor. The ship is spacious and gorgeous, the crew is fabulous (always made sure we had the drinks we needed), and you cannot beat the $1 drinks! It was great to just be sailing in a beautiful harbor on a sunny day, with friends, drinking some wine and beer. There was no loud speaker with historical facts/sights, etc...we just completely relaxed and chatted as if we were on the ship alone! It really was a can't miss activity for our group, and we hope to make Newport and the Adirondack II a yearly excursion!

The sail on the schooner was skippered by a knowledgable fellow who could point out all the interesting and historical sites we saw during the voyage. It took one hour and a half. The crew was very attentive. They provided water, beer and wine and the latter two were only one dollar! Where can you find such a bargain? I would recommend the sail to everyone who visits Newport.

I took my girlriend out on her 47th birthday, and she hasn't stopped talking about the amazing time she had. I don't remember the Captains name but being a sailor myself I have to comment on his knowledge of the water and more specifically the bay. The crew was very helpul and courteous, they also were very polite with their conversations. I was already planning my next sail before I was off the boat.

My husband and I wanted to do something different in Newport than just go out to lunch for our anniversary. It was not a long trip but we enjoyed being able to get out on the water and enjoy the beautiful weather. We met another family from the area who also wanted to do something different for their father for fathers day. Everyone seemed to have a good time. The captain and the crew were friendly and knew alot of history of the local landmarks in the area. We were also lucky to be out for the beginning of the Newport to Bermuda race. We tried to coax the captain to join the race and to continue on to Bermuda but sorry to say we had to return to the pier. I would recommend this trip for anyone who enjoys the ocean and would like to see Newport from a different view.

This is a great tour you don't want to miss. A schooner brings back all the romance of sailing.

We came to Newport for a bachelorette party, and had planned ahead to take the 1pm sail. We had an incredible time - the captain and deck hands were so nice and personable, and you can't beat $1 beer & wine on board! We had such an incredible time, in fact, that we went again on the 5pm Sunset Sail shortly after! A very enjoyable experience and would recommend to anyone who enjoys being out on the water.

Excellent Tour

My wife and I were lucky enough to book a trip last weekend for a 1.5 hour tour around the harbor. It was a beautiful day and could not have been a better experience. The captain and crew were extremely personable and helpful. They had beer and wine available for $1 which must be the best deal in town. My recommendations would be: 1. Sit near the captain and 2. order tickets early. We (luckily) ordered ours online and the tours were all sold out for the afternoon by noon of that day. I would highly recommend this as a great way to spend a few hours if you get the chance.

OK but not what we expected

When we compared this sailing to the one we took on Cape Cop a couple years ago, this one fell a bit short. We thought we would go out a bit beyond the bay, but instead stayed within the bay area. There wasn't much wind so I don't know how much that affected where we ventured as we seemed to use the motors quite frequently. The crew was wonderful and polite. The captain providing details and descriptions along the route was interesting but hard to hear. He didn't seem to have a very loud voice. Also, the ice chest rumbling when one of the deck hands retrieved beer bottles prevented us from hearing more clearly. The time out in the water was perfect and on-time.
