Classic Afternoon Schooner Sail

As a tourist I would have liked to have an introduction to the area and the places that we saw on the sail. The staff was polite and knowledgable when asked, but were not forthcoming with any interesting information about Newport or sailing that gave the trip any educational value.

It was a picture perfect day that I had wished could have lasted longer aboard the Adirondack II. The crew was friendly, the captain very informative - and with Newport as the backdrop - what more could you want - OH YEA - dollar wine and beer. I would HIGHLY reccommend it to any types of people. We have a 4 year old and he just loves it. We've been on it twice and will continue to go on it every year . Its very relaxing, invigorating and one of the highlights of our summer. See you guys next year!!!

We went for a 1 1/2 hour daytime sail on the Schooner Adirondack II. We have three boys - ages 8, 6 & 3. My husband has done a lot of sailing in the past and wanted to introduce our boys to sailing. We all enjoyed it very much. It was great taking in all of the sights, including mansions in the distance. The crew was very professional and informative. They also joked with us and and made it a fun trip. Bottled water was included and tasted great in the hot sun. We would do it again if we were visiting Newport.

We sailed on a day cruise. It was scenic, relaxing and enjoyable. Our two year old daughter was with us and she had a nice time as well. The captain was excellent and handled the ship with ease. The sailing was smooth. Several points of interest were easily seen on the cruise and I would definately recommend it.

:-) Pro's - We loved the cruise. The kids were able to drive the boat. It was a highlight for them. There were only 5 kids on board. It left promptly, be there on time. The crew were very helpful and courtious. Water was complimentary. Cons - We couldn't hear the captain. We missed a lot of history and info. We sat in the middle of the boat. Be sure to get there eaIrly and sit very close to the captain. The boat did not have any music on board. If you can't hear the captain anyway some music would have been enjoyable. :-)

Our sail was cancelled due to weather, but I have to say that everyone we dealt with -- the captain, crew and organizers -- were all extremely friendly about the situation and they were very good about communicating the options we had. I have been on the Adirondack II and her sister ship in NYC before and every time I am so pleased -- it's always a great time.

Loved the sail. The boat was really nice. We had a 20 month old with us and there was plenty of room for her to walk around. The crew was really friendly. We loved it and would do it again in a heartbeat.

We have been on this boat 2 times in as many years. Both times the afternoon was wonderful. Both times were very differen trips. The first time we were given a fabulous ' sighseeing tour' of the Bay the crew pointed out all 'sights' and we traveled to Beaver Tail State Park and almost out into the open ocean. The Captian was awesome and crew full of information. The second time... most recently... we stayed in the harbor and did not get much farther out than the house on the rock near Jamestown center. There wasn't any 'tour' type discriptions of everything along the shores that we had previously seen. We were fine with that, We just sailed along in the slight breeze of the beautiful day and it was still a very nice afternoon in the sun! The Captian was very good and it was amazing to watch her work the sails and even resolove an issue with one sail cutting a rope that jammed. We learned alot more about the other boats in the harbor and the how to's of sailing the second time around. Both trips were great and fun!!!
