My first time on any sailboat was aboard the Adirondack II. The crew was friendly, the boat was comfortable, and the dollar drinks were great. I was let down by the fact we did not do more sailing. We sailed out and watched the sunset, but after the sunset, the engine was turned on and we motored back to the dock. It would have been great if we had sailed under the Newport bridge or even sailed a little faster.

The entire sailing experience, from boarding to docking, was simply beautiful. We were fortunate enough to be able to view not only the masive mansions and their lush gardens, but also the towering masts of the Tall Ships sailing by! The crew was friendly, imformative and very entertaining! We have visited Newport many times prior to our most recent trip without ever getting on the water. In the future, we won't leave Newport without going sailing!

The day of my sail happen to be so foggy that none of the beautiful Newport coast was visible. Instead, we were treated to a cold sail with no one even telling us what we were supposed to be seeing. The drinks were cheap, but other than that, we might as well been sitting on the boat in the harbor. The ride was smooth, but for about $40, treat yourself to a nice dinner instead. If its a sunny, warm day, it might be worth it, but I wouldn't know. That being said, if you are going, wait until Newport to buy tickets. If this one is sold out, simply hop on one of the other main boat tours around this one.

This was one of the highlighted activities of our Newport trip! We definitely recommend it, expecially the sunset cruise!

This was a nice experience! I think that the length of time spent on the water was just right. Although I had a good jacket on, it was still pretty chilly. The only thing that would've improved the sail was a better sunset; it was cloudy on the day that we went, which couldn't really have been helped. Beautiful boat. Very nice crew.

We were on a four-day weekend trip and and decided to buy tickets online for a sail at 7:00 PM that Friday evening. However, a thunderstorm formed that afternoon. We were disappointed but greatful when the crew decided to cancel the 7:00 sail because of the threat of high winds and rain. They gave us a refund and we tried the following afternoon. We had no trouble getting tickets around thirty minutes before the 1:00 PM sail on the next day which was weather perfect. My wife and I and about fifteen others came on board. The young crew, consisting of two girls and one young helmsman, was very competent and very friendly. Beer and softdrinks were available for a dollar. After a while, the young helmsman allowed a few passengers including myself to take the helm and steer the boat for a few minutes at a time. All in all, a great time out on the bay and we took some great pictures. The sail lasted about one and a half hours and in my opinion well worth the price. I would certainly recommend it to any visitor to Newport.

We took the sunset sail on Saturday, May 26. It started out with the boat ride starting about 25 minutes; which wasn't a big to us since we ate dinner before the ride, but we met people who had a reservation after the ride. The boat was packed, with people even sitting on the middle part of the boat, as opposed to the benches on the sides. We went into the ride thinking that the drinks were complimentary (which is what it said on our reservations), but they were actually a dollar each. One of the crew members didn't know if Merlot was a red or a white wine...yikes! We enjoyed chatting with the people on the boat, and actually met people who we hung out with later in our weekend in Newport. The four of us chatted and all had the expectation that the sail would take us by interesting things and they would talk about them a little, neither of which happened. If you go on the Adirondack, realize that it will be crowded, you will pay for drinks and you will simply sail around the open water for 90 minutes.

THE SAIL WAS WONDERFUL! The boat was roomy and the views were great. It felt a bit short becuase as soon as you really got out in open water you were heading home! But it was 90 minutes as promised. The beer and wine on the day cruise was only $1 each, a total bargin!

Bit pricey, but cheaper than owning your own boat

| The crew was knowlegeable, friendly and fun to be around. The ship is safe as can be and takes to the sea just fine. There's nothing like being on the water in Newport. Don't visit the town without sailing Narragansett Bay.
It would have been good to do a harbor burn (where you sail in and out of the mooring field in the inner harbor) but perhaps that's asking a bit much. Overall, it's worthy. |

We really enjoyed our sailing trip on the Adirondack II-- the currents were too strong to get us out to the Castle Hill lighthouse, though. The crew was very friendly- even got my daughter a snack when she was "starving" and let her have a turn at the wheel. I only wish there had been a little more commentary on the various sights. The captain seemed very knowledgeable and answered all of our questions, but it would have been nice for the information to be volunteered.
