I live with 4 other girls and we decided to bring all our parents in for Easter weekend and the cruise was one of the activities for Saturday. We had a blast on teh cruise as did our parents; it was a great time to relax, drink beer, and just enjoy the Charleston harbor. Everyone had so much fun!

I have been a sailor for years and have my own boat. So why would I pay to spend two hours on someone else's boat in the harbor? Because I never get to enjoy the view when I'm the captain on my own boat! The day we sailed, the wind was blowing a good 20 - 25 knots, gusting to 30. The captain and crew made everyone feel at ease in these conditions by judiciously managing the sail plan so that everyone could enjoy their experience. We watched a lovely sloop sail past, all sails up, rail down in the water, at hull speed. OK. It's fun, if you know what you're doing, but it's not fun for your passengers if they haven't had experience, and it's not much fun being captain and having the responsibility for your boat and your passengers and crew. My hat is off the the captain, whose sound management made the experience enjoyable, and to the crew, who were courteous and friendly to all on board. These were not "boat snobs." These were professionals who loved what they do. And it showed.

I loved the schooner ride! We had great weather, nearing sunset. The ship itself is beautiful, the crew knowledgeable and friendly. We saw dolphins swimming nearby us. The beauty of the sails, the wind in your hair, the quiet as she skimmed along --wish it could have lasted longer!

pleasant given the weather conditions however...

the brochure mentioned helping hoist the sails, but that wasn't mentioned on the trip. possibly the weather conditions prevented that from happening. my 14 year old would have enjoyed some of the 'hands-on' that the brochure mentioned. and I would still recommend the sailing trip. it was pleasant to sail around the harbor.

My boyfriend and I went on the afternoon sail, and loved the friendly crew, the beautiful scenery, dolphins and chance to relax on the water. A great deal for the money!

I had discovered the Schooner Pride while surfing the internet for events and activities happening in Charleston before we went down for our weeklong vacation. It immediately became one of my goals for the week, with an eye on the weather reports as the time came closer. I finally decided that Saturday was going to be the most promising day and made my reservation online on Tuesday of that week from my wife's laptop. The weather turned out to be perfect, and this landlubber got to the dock about 30 minutes early. After meeting several other passengers and some interesting conversation while we were waiting, the crew finally started the boarding process and we chose our places on the deck. My wife had declined to come with me (for fear of seasickness), but she was the one who missed out on a wonderful time! The protected waters of the harbor kept any wave action to a minimum, and the sailing was extremely smooth. I got to help raise one of the sails, and just the experience of being under sail with no motor sound and the conversation with the crew and the other passengers, both locals and tourists like me, was one of the highlights of my week. There were a lot of other boats on the water that day, and the mate explained to us how to tell if two sailboats were racing each other (if they are in sight of each other, then they most likely ARE!) We saw dolphins several times along the way, and once had one surface right beside the boat, as if to check us out. All in all, I was very pleased with the trip, and will probably try to book it again the next time we are in Charleston. Maybe a sunset trip next time. John W. Weaverville, NC
