Pleasant and relaxing
Sat, Aug 1  3:00 PM JDSteiner Male 60-69 Domestic Tourist(s) Couple on a Date
My wife and I were on our 39th wedding anniversary and thought a sailing cruise would be a pleasant experience. We thoroughly enjoyed the sail, and the captain and crew were very gracious, pleasant and accomodating. We had hoped that we would be able to take part in the sunset cruise but the boat was reserved for that particular Saturday, so we went on the 3:00 PM venture. Our next visit will hopefully be a sunset cruise, but I would recommend this to any of my friends and family. Thank you Jack and Kim Steiner

We had a great time on our sailing tour of Charleston harbor. Directions provided were very good. Crew was polite and very accommodating. Have booked this before and will definitely book again.

Pretty harbor, polite crew, no information

The crew was very polite, however, from the start, Captain Terry stated that this is not a narrated tour. You can ask questions and they are answered. It is only a harbor cruse so a small map noting points of interest would have made it much more enjoyable. Combine the map with narration regarding the islands, lighthouse, Ft. Sumter, Yorktown II, the bridge (it's design), activity in the harbor, etc., would have made the tour worth the cost.

If you simply want to chill out & take in the beauty that is Charleston and its harbour, the Schooner Pride is the zen ticket. This is the 2nd time I had the pleasure of cruising on the ship...the 1st was with my mom in 2005 & the experience once again did not disappoint. The crew is friendly, professional, knowledgeable & laid-back, which makes the experience quite different than some of the more commercial elements of Charleston. No "blah-blah-blah" (not that there is anything wrong with that, if that's what you like). Just the simple splendor of the great outdoors & fine folk who are there to help you enjoy. As we glided across the Charleston Harbour, it was pure bliss...much like living in this charming city, enjoying what it has to offer, but having someone do the "heavy lifitng" for you. My traveling companion/BFF has some problems with sea sickness & I booked the cruise hoping she would enjoy -- she took an over-the-counter drug...and was in HEAVEN. I have taken the day cruise both times. When I travel to Charleston next, the sunset cruise is DEFINITELY on the agenda. I felt badly for the folks who were on the big ferry boats we saw as we traversed the harbor--we were experiencing the REAL DEAL. Sighhhhh. TRY THIS. It's lovely. NOTE: It's a serious hike from Market Street to the ship's location between the Aquarium & the IMAX Theater, so plan ahead and book a pedi-cab. FUn from beginning to end. Ahoy, mates!

the ride was pretty neat - we had a good time. the only complaint would be the guy serving drinks only came to us once and never returned my change (I had to go up to him and ask for it back). very relaxing, though and different

A wonderfully relaxing afternoon in Charleston

In 32 years of going to Charleston almost annually, we have been on many, many harbor tours, but never a sailboat adventure. So, we decided to do something different this year. Boy, were we ever happy to have made that decision. The day was perfect, the boat was great, the crew and captain were friendly, knowledgeable and informative. There is no doubt in my mind that the next time we go to Charleston, we will do this again. Hands down, it beat any other harbor experience we have ever had.

A terrific cruise

As my family lives in Charleston, I have been there many times; however, this was my first schooner cruise there. It was wonderful. The time on water was lovely. The crew was friendly, knowledgeable, and courteous. They kindly waited for a couple who were running late (but did not arrive) and then added those fifteen minutes onto the cruise.

It was a very enjoyable daytime sail. Quiet and peaceful. The crew was very friendly (but not overly so) and knowledgeable.

My husband and I sailed on the Schooner Pride Monday, July 20., 2009. We both enjoyed every minute of the trip and would do it again if ever in the Charleston area.
