This trip was one of the highlights of our vacation. The crew was very nice and the views of the harbor were wonderful. It was so much more exciting than a trip in a closed vessel. We got to watch the sails put up and feel the wind take us.
Two things that were not perfect...1) It would have been helpful if the Captain had a microphone. Only part of the boat got to hear what was going on. 2) My husband wanted one of the t-shirts but they didn't have his size and didn't offer to mail him one. |

Great trip good crew. Would have prefered to sail and tack more instead of using the motor all the way out to Ft. Sumter. Please consider cutting out the music completely. It was a BIG distraction to hearing the wind, waves, sails and mast creaking. I can hear all of that I want on land. I would recommend the trip to friends. Unforgetable sunset over Charleston. |

Having never been on a sailboat before, I was pleasantly surprised by how enjoyable the cruise was. We sailed at 6:30 in warm and sunny weather. When the motors were stopped and the sails raised, the cruise was very quiet and the sunset stunning. I would highly recommend this cruise. |

We had a great time! The crew and ship were very helpful, knowledgable, and fun. The sunset cruise was the perfect time, with the views, dolphins, and the sunset. There was minimal wind, so the cruise slow and comfortable. We'll recommend the Pride to all of our friends heading to Charleston.

This was a great cruise! Two things would have made it better......the ship needs to go close enough to Fort Sumter to see it. We did not get close at all. Also, a "tip" receiver should be placed promenenly so that the Captain does not feel led to actually "ask" for tips....and to say that this is how his crew is paid. To have the crew stand there with their hands out really took the hospitality edge off of the cruise. |

On such a historic body of water, no commentary was given. I have had more excitement at the supermarket. |

We spent a relaxing and enjoyable evening! Sail was not narrated, but crew was friendly and willing to talk and answer questions about the sights and the area. |

Having taken previous trips on the Schooner Pride and thoroughly enjoying them, I was very disappointed with the recent cruise. When before we sailed or motored around the harbor, viewing many areas, this time all we did was motor straight out from the wharf past Castle Pinckney and turned around and then aimlessly drifted for the rest of our "2 hour cruise". We then motored back to the wharf. Since this trip was an anniversary present to my sister and her husband, I kept apologizing for choosing the wrong gift. I hope that their impression of what Charleston has to offer was not diminished by this experience. In all honesty, when once I sang the praises of a cruise on the Schooner Pride, my observation now would be "don't waste your money". |

We had a wonderful time. Watching the crew set/unset the sails was intriguing. the two young women each deserve an "A". Not only did they ably accomplish their tasks; they did so with charm and grace. their knowledge of the area and its history was deep. answering questions and engaging with They were friendly and sociable - in short, a delight. Captain Harry was thoughtful, thorough, and a treasure trove of historical information. Toward the end of our trip, a violent thunderstorm threatened. All three reacted to protect passengers with skill and alacrity. Sadly - but correctly - the trip had to be ended a bit early, lest all of us face a perilous situation when the storm broke. (We were safely in our car when it did break and it was a doozy!) All in all, it was the highlight of our vacation. We would highly recommend it to anyone!
Sincerely,
Eileen Noyes-Verchereau |
