We sailed on Schooner Pride on Sept. 9, 2009 for the sunset sail. We were promptly boarded and the crew was very friendly and knowledgable. The crew was very willing to answer any questions but didn't bombard you with a constant narration. The sail was very relaxing and enjoyable. We highly recommend Schooner Pride to anyone wanting a great experience on the water. We will defnitely sail on Schooner Pride again.

I was reading info prior to our recent Charleston vacation and this activity had very good reviews and advertising. It indicated that it would be a tour of the Charleston harbor which I thought would include some commentary and go by some of the beautiful buildings and homes in the city, give some history or some anecdotes. Turns out we never saw any of the city up close except the not so scenic part where we departed. The boat trip was very quiet, slow, and boring. We just motored out into the water for awhile, raised the sails and did a small amount of sailing, then turned around and headed back in. They lowered the sails and we motored back. It was all very boring and the crew just occupied themselves with odd jobs around the boat after selling drinks to everyone. They answered questions when asked but didn't seem particularly interested in or proud of the local area.

Relaxing way to end the day

Took the sunset cruise and it was the perfect end to a long day of taking in so much historical information. The cruise was not narrated but the captain did point out points of interest and answered questions. Being my first time on a sailboat and one not comfortable on water, I was surprised at how relaxing it was. The captain and those handling the sails of Schooner Pride were impressive. Takes lots of skill and strength.

The best Charleston has to offer...

We recently had the opportunity to take a sunset cruise aboard the Schooner Pride. If you or your significant other like sailing or the water in any way, there is no better thing to check off your list than a ride on this boat. It was impeccably clean and well kept and really did look as majestic as the pictures on the website if not better. Where most tours (such as carriage tours) you would want the crew to point out various sites, a tour like this, especially at sunset is more of an intimate venue and the crew was wonderful. They did not act like tour guides and kept talking to a minimum but would answer any questions that anyone asked them regarding the various sites. In addition, they were more than friendly when offering drinks from menu and were quick and courteous to accomodate anyone wishing to order. As for the sights, we went on a day where the weather was perfect and saw probably the most beautiful sunset either of us had experienced in a long time. We experienced and saw many things on our trip to Charleston and this was, by far, the absolute best of them all, as well as lasting memory for the both of us. I highly highly recommend the Schooner Pride, in particular the sunset cruise, for anyone wishing to visit Charleston and/or create a special romantic moment that you both will remember forever......

Would have enjoyed it more if the captain narrated the sail, were very informative if asked questions. Dress properly...gets cool and misty in the evening.

Don't waste your time, effort or money! These folks motored out to the center of the harbor and then drifted back to the dock. They have no sailing skills. The highlight of this 2 hours was a semi-cool canned soda (also at a hefty charge). Their lack of information goes hand-in-hand with their lack of interest in working with the public. One of the three crew members took no measure to show his disdain for what he was doing that day. Lackluster and without interest for those who became a captive audience. Disembarking was the best relief.

More sail less motor.

Great trip good crew. Would have prefered to sail and tack more instead of using the motor all the way out to Ft. Sumter. Please consider cutting out the music completely. It was a BIG distraction to hearing the wind, waves, sails and mast creaking. I can hear all of that I want on land. I would recommend the trip to friends. Unforgetable sunset over Charleston.

I am a Charlestonian, but hadn't taken the Schooner Pride before. It provides a great perspective of the beautiful city of Charleston. The weather was ideal and the crew was friendly and professional. I agree with other reviewers that a bit of patter by the crew about the sights would be helpful. The little bit of information provided was very helpful, especially to first time visitors. The ambiance and wonderful experience of a tall-ship sail at sunset with a gorgeous city as background is well worth the fare. Thanks.

My husband and I, along with some other friends took the evening cruise. We highly recommend going! It was the highlight of our trip to Charleston. The crew is very relaxed and knowledgable. The two hours flew by.
