Schooner Pride

We stepped aboard the Schooner Pride on June 24, 2008. I had seen the boat from the shore on a previous trip to Charleston and knew it was a beautiful boat. After a short introduction and safety lecture from the Captain, we motored out into Charleston Harbor. Captain Steve made it clear that we were going to sail, if at all possible. The breezes cooperated and the sails were hoisted. The quiet ride, the polite and experienced crew and the beautiful views of Ft. Sumter, Patriots Point and the Ravenel (Cooper River) Bridge were fantastic. We opted for the sunset cruise and Schooner Pride turned, after passing Ft. Sumter, and sailed directly into the setting sun. Highly recommend.

I would like to sail the Pride every week

Where do I begin? The Sunset Sail on The Pride was perfect. From the peace and quiet of the harbor, pods of dolphins swimming around the ship, to the beautiful sunset over the city of Charleston made for a wonderful two hours spent on the water. I have lived in Charleston for many years, and this was the first time that I'd been in the harbor on a sailboat. It's a wonderful experience. The crew was professional and available to answer questions, but the crew was not at all intrusive. Don't miss this experience for a relaxing evening.

Fun, Exciting...but short of what we'd expected

Had a great start to the sail, then thunderstorms came upon us while we were 45 mins into the sail. Had to turn around and return to dock in high winds, heavy rain and listing. Crew were great in handling the situation. Some passengers kind of freaked out and put preservers. My family were only a bit disappointed at the short run (distance & time), but it was understandable. We'd do it again, though, and probably will when we return to Kiawah Island.

The crew was kind and helpful, to the point of calling when we didn't arrive on time and waiting because we were stuck by a train. The trip began wonderfully, but the weather got the best of us. Sadly, the trip was cut short and we disembarked soaking wet and very cold. Not something that the crew could have changed. I would love to try again, but I will keep my eye on the forecast!

Exciting

Left on time as scheduled. Clouds were seen at departure. A severe thunder storm came over Charleston Harbor about 45 minutes into the cruise. Several passengers were freightened and donned life jackets. The wind was kicking up white caps in the harbor, The Captain took apropriate action and lowered some of the sails, started the engine and headed back into port. This was about the wettest I have ever gotten in a storm. The cruise was shortened by a half hour due to the thunder storm and the sun came out as we approached the docking location. Quite an adventure but probably not for the faint of heart (only if the weather looks ominous) This was my 6th trip on the Pride and I have enjoyed every one.

Great Way to End a Day of Sight Seeing

The sail was wonderful. The crew was friendly and told us about the history of Charleston Harbor. They had wine and beer on board for sale which was nice. We were a group of 3 and went on a Monday night in mid-June. There were about 15 passengers, the wind was good, and it was just kind of perfect. They didn't play any music (which was appreciated) so it was just the sound of the wind in the sails. Very relaxing. Would highly recommend.

We liked the boat, it was clean and we felt safe. The crew was friendly and provided intersting information about the place we were visiting. We were relaxed and got to see some dolphins!

Number of passengers seemed a little high for the seating available. Other than that, we thought it was great.

What a perfect way to spend an evening!

The sail was perfect. We went with friends who have lived her all their lives and have never been on the cruise. We moved here a year ago and had been here several times on vacation before and never had the chance. to go on the scooner. It will be on our top 5 things to do while visiting the Charleston area. We can not wait for more family to come into town! The captain and crew were most helpful. In one word WONDERFUL! Thanks for providing such a great service to us all! Nick and Deb Bako Hanahan, SC

Maybe the Highlight of our Trip
Fri, Jun 13  7:00 PM eillenru Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
We were a group of 55 - 65 church friends known as "the Rowdy Group" in our Sunday School Dept. We had a wonderful time in Savannah and the Pride evening sail was most relaxing and enjoyable. Would do it again.
