Relaxing cruise for those who enjoy sailing.
Sun, Aug 31, 08   6:30 PM JStephen Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Family Without Children
Participated in the sunset sail - not a historical tour, just relaxing sailing cruise, although crew members were more than happy to answer any historical/local area related questions guests asked. If you would like to hear music while you cruise, sit towards rear of schooner, as what was played could not be heard @ front half. Was not even aware any was being played until late in cruise & did miss that part of the 'relaxation' from my vantage point, but views were beautiful, & all crew members provided excellent service w/ smiles & much courtesy. Would board again in the future.

So-So

We figured that this activity would be more informative about the history of Charleston, SC, but instead, all we did was sail around inside the port. It was quite boring, with no narration, no scenery to really stare at (besides the guests you came with), and no real live atomoshere about it. As we waited to board the ship, one of the crew mates was sleeping on the deck, and after his little nap, he was very un-enthusiastic about being on the boat. Drinks were available (for a price) but not a large selection to chose from. Frankly, my husband and I would have rather rented our own boat that just sit on this boat for two hours board out of our minds.

It was really nice and relaxing. Drinks are good. We went on the saturday night sunset tour. There was one you kid under 1 years old but it was still nice. Don't sit up front you have to move around alot. I was there with my gf. The highttide was coming in and we only cruised around the harbor. We didnt even make it to Fort Sumter because the tide was so strong. I wish they had turned on the motor atleast so we just didnt zig zag around the harbor. The crew is nice. The trip was cut about 15 mins short. Next time we are going to take the fort sumter tour which. It was still nice and slightly romantic at times. Dan

We enjoyed sailing on the Pride very much. The crew was very informative and friendly. It was also nice that drinks were served. The only negative thing is that the tour was supposed to last 2 hours and we actually zig zagged around the harbor and then arrived back at the dock 15 minutes earlier than expected. Also, there was one child on board under age 1 and it would have been nice to have been able to sail without children on the sunset tour which is geared more toward couples. All in all, we would recommend this sail.

Great experience

It was truly a delightful and peaceful experience. They let you help hoist the sails, if you so desire, so families with young children...say seven to twelve year-olds...should really get a kick out it.

I've always loved sailboats but never been on a multi-mast ship. I was really excited about the tour and the vessel and it lived up to its anticipation. The crew were fantastic and friendly. The weather was perfect. And I would do it again! Thanks!

My sister, my best friend & I were in Charleston last week. None of us had ever been on a sailboat before. We looked into going on another sailboat excursion, but soon discovered that the option was pricey (~$450 for three hrs!). We ran across a pamphlet and decided to give these people a call. The tour was 2hrs, and the cost was only $27+ ($2.00 for ticket processing through Zerve--ticketing agency the company uses). I must say for a first time experience it was definitely well worth it. I will mention one thing. We were a little turned around when we were looking for the boat. I actually called Zerve & the representative gave the local ph# for the Schooner so that I could tell them that we were on the way. I was a little stressed when I got on the boat (since we had almost missed it). However, after the 2hr ride . . . I was RELAXED! The Captain & his mates were very nice as well.

Thank you for the sail. It was very relaxing and enjoyable. We met some nice people to talk with from Liverpool England. Very delightful. We enjoyed the sail and the crew and captain were great too. After doing it; I would have brought some food with me to enjoy with the wine and beer. I might try a different wine as there are many brands you can buy in the little bottles now. I like wine and if it had been a different winery; the trip would have been dam near perfect! Thanks again.

I live here and booked the cruise for something fun and different to do. It couldn't have been more enjoyable. The only downside was that it went by so fast. Everyone was so friendly. We can't wait to go again.

Sunset Sail on the Pride
Mon, Aug 18, 08   6:30 PM DDugganpots Female 50-59 Domestic Tourist(s) Family With Children
My husband, our daughter (age 20) and I spent a wonderful two hours on the Pride seeing the sights and waiting for the sun to set. Our weather was overcast, so the full beauty of the sky was missed, but I still took over 300 photos while on board. Sea gulls, pelicans and dolphins provided much entertainment. This was our second time to cruise on the Pride -- the other being about six years ago when our daughter was 14. That day the water was rough and the wind was blowing hard, but we had a fantastic time. Sailing on the Pride is a MUST DO for anyone visiting Charleston!

Misleading

I am not sure if it was because it was hot and everyone was lethargic but I expected more from trip. Basically we dieseled up to a point on the water and then sailed back until it slowed to diesel the rest of the way in. If no wind--and it happens the crew said---you bake until they can't take anymore and diesel back in. We didn't get close to any landmark like the Yorktown or the forts---no history lessons. The crew was nice and would answer questions but unless you knew what to ask. That is why I went---to be informed and sail. Also in the heat----no shade and you sat on hard wooden boxes---no seats. You could go down where bathrooms were but no view and it was like an oven because no A/C. Ship is not historical, built in 1988 and made of steel. It was nice sailing though. All captain did is give the safety lecture and then commanded the crew. No insights, no commentary. Maybe they do more in the cooler times but I doubt it. I spent far less on the trip to Ft Sumter and it was far longer, cooler because of canopy or if you wanted to go below---A/C and a view. Plus you got to get off and see Fort and lots of history told by crew of boat and at the fort. Plus $10 less per person. Unless you have a yearning to sail---I would pass on this trip.

My boyfriend and I visited Charleston for a week and wanted to spend as much time on or by the water as possible. We throughly enjoyed the sun set sail (even though is rained a little) we still got to see a great sun set and a lot of wildlife (dolphins and birds). The staff was very professional (We had Becca, Angela, and Capt Bubba). I would recommend this to anyone visiting the area.
