We rode the Schooner Pride 4 years ago with German business associates and felt that the Pride was in better shape then. This time we noticed alot of flaking paint and felt it was not in ship shape condition overall. Another schooner happened to be in the vicinity and it looked so crisp and awesome. The Pride looked a bit tired/worn out.
Also the crew were not as interactive and informative this time - more on the quiet side. It would have made the trip more interesting if they interacted more with the passengers and given us information about the different sites. We didn't need a running commentary, but highights would have been welcome.
4 years ago they even encouraged passengers to help out at the helm if they so desired.
Last time they sailed along the homes of Battery Park which provided a great overview of the residential area from the water - but again, not this time. However, last week the wind was stronger ,so in fairness, a bit more time was needed to handle the sails. This did make for a more exciting sail, but definitely not an informative one. We had to seek out a crew member if we had a question. (and were encouraged to do so during the orientation) , but without input from them, we didn't have any information about which to ask quesitons. For the first time visitors to Charleston we had with us. this was not a good way to learn more about Charleston.
This can add a wonderful dimension to any visit to Charleston - but I would encourage them to keep up the high standards that we have experienced in the past.

Sailing on the Pride lets you tour the harbor while enjoying the experience of being on a real sailing vessel. It really fits in with the historical character of Charleston much better than the regular harbor tour boats. We had beautiful weather and it truly felt like we were riding the wind. I would especially recommend the sunset cruise. Our only complaint was that there was no one to tell us about the sights we were seeing and, while the brochure advertises that passengers may help sail the vessel, we were not offered this opportunity. Still, it was a wonderful experience; just hold on to your hats and enjoy the ride! |

I can not honestly suggest any thing that would improve your product. When we got off we were discussing other friends we would like to attend with us on future trips. |

The only thing that I wish we had on the sail was someone telling us about what we were seeing - the waterfront place - where the ships used to come in - just some history would have been nice - But I really loved the sail & all the crew was just wonderful and the wine was very tasty. |

The sunset sail was very enjoyable. The crew was friendly and helpful, and made the sail seem very personal. The scenery was beautiful, and provided another glimpse of the beautifully historic Charleston. Highly recomended for a group of friends or a romantic date. |

It would have been absolutely fabulous to sail closer to the battery. I was on the Pride a few years ago, and we went right along the battery, which is why I took my friends on this little cruise. This time, we went straight out towards Fort Sumter. Not as neat to see. People want to see the Battery and the penisula...all the homes from the water. Change that and it would be fantastic. |

i took my mom (73, active) on the afternoon schooner sail. the weather was perfection and we had a blast. the pride crew was friendly and let us do our thing. i wasn't looking for a "touristy" sail, but rather just a beautiful (and safe) afternoon on the water. the pride delivered. we'd do it again in a heartbeat. |

For a change of pace, this is far more relaxing than other tours around Charleston Bay. No captain on a PA system drowning out everything but the engines. Peaceful and quiet with nothing but the wind and the waves. You have ample time to take numerous photos. They serve adult beverages if you should want some. My only regret, not doing the sunset sail. Will certainly try if we are back here in the future. |

Service by the crew was great, the saling was great but it really needs narration to add to the enjoyment. I did not feel the cruise was worth the $45 per person charge. |
