I ordered two tickets for Sunset Cruise on Scooner Pride Tall Ship. It was convenient to have the tickets available elecrtonically, so I could print them out when I needed them, and no worry about losing them. I highly recommend this method to all who make reservations for future events or activities. Diane McDonough

We LOVED the Schooner Pride!

I grew up near the river, so much of my childhood was spent on boats. However, I had never sailed before and neither had my husband. The captain and crew were very competent, informative and fun. Great sunsets and beautiful scenery of the Charleston harbor! We sat in the front of the boat and had to move a couple of times to 'clear the jib,' but it was well worth it - I think we had the best views of all.

This is a great way to experience what the early settlers of this region felt, sailing into this harbor.

My husband and I booked the sunset cruise while on our vacation in Charleston. We had an absolutely wonderful time, and will definately book again on our next trip. The boat was beautiful and very well maintained, and the crew were fabulous. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. I have to say that this was probably the most relaxing thing we did on our entire vacation. Thanks so much!!

Wonderful experience

Our trip around the harbor was delightful. If you've never been sailing I would absolutely recommend this cruise. It was pretty chilly when we went, but they had plenty of warm blankets to go around. A lot of people brought supper with them and bought a beer on board. Although it's not a tour the crew was knowledgeable and happy to answer questions. Bring a camera. I took about 50 pictures. Also make sure you end up at the right dock. The instructions are pretty clear, but just make sure you end up on the dock to the _left_ of the aquarium (facing the river), or you might have to make a dash for it. I would definitely recommend this cruise to anyone visiting Charleston.

No Historical Information Provided

While it was really windy during the daay, when it came time for the cruise, unfortunately there was very little wind to carry the sail boat along ar a faster pace so the Captain had to use the little engine for most of the trip. We did see lots of pelicans dive into the water (didn't know they did that!) and dolphins could be seen from the ship. They were pretty quick - too quick for photos. The one thing we did not care for was that there was no 'tour guide-type' information provided by the Captain and/or crew. We did ask a couple of questions and a member of the crew would tell us the 'tales' behind the question. We thought it was like the harbor cruise where you get information but it wasn't. You're not really too close to shore where you can see things but we could see the USS Yorktown and a couple of the old forts. It would have been nice to hear the history behind these historical places. If you want a cruise that is fairly quiet and you can just ride the water, then this is for you. If you're looking for more conversation, I'd skip this tour.

If you love sailing and you always wanted to sail on a tall ship, this is a great excursion. If you just want some relaxing time on the water, this will also fit well. The crew was knowledgable and helpful, ready to answer any questions on sailing, the ship, or the harbour. They managed to run this rather large sailing vessel with minimal intrusion on the guests, all while providing drinks (for a fee) as they're going.

We arrived at the Schooner Pride and we were greeted by a very friendly crew. We were instructed of all the safety issues and then we set sail. It was an enjoyable cruise. The Charleston Bay is beautiful and the excursion was very relaxing. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to see the bay and relax at the same time. It was very refreshing.

My wife and I read about the tour on the internet. It talked about what you would see and I have to tell you I didn't have a clue as to what I was looking at. We thought someone would kind of point out the different sites..........wrong. We would not recommend this cruise to any one.......sorry. This is the only cruise of any sort that did not explain anything to you. I think you need new help..........

Review of Schooner Pride Sunset Harbor Tour
Thu, May 8, 08   6:30 PM afmassengale Female 40-49 Domestic Tourist(s) Group of Friends
We were able to secure reservations with relative ease on line. The driving directions were understandable as well. Having a list of FAQ's and answers attached to the e-ticket was good. The boat left on time, which is wonderful since we were able to keep our plans for the rest of the evening. It would have been nice to have had the landmarks pointed out from time to time, however. I wasn't always quite sure what I was looking at. The crew was well mannered and was very informative about safety and such. I knew that this wasn't a "speaking tour", but it would have been nice to have known something more about the area we were covering. I am sure the crew would have offered information as asked, but it should be offered up occasionally. Overall I found it to be a pleasant excursion as the weather cooperated and the crew seemed to be well acquainted with the drill of the tour.

The experience was wonderful for both my husband and myself. We sailed in the early afternoon on a very clear and slightly windy day. Though we took light jackets, we only needed caps to keep the sun out of our eyes. And we also used a fair amount of sunblock. Other than those self-help concepts, the sail went without a hitch. The crew was cordial; offering drinks and a light snack at the beginning of the sail and several times during. Though the crew was knowledgeable about the schooner and all her parts and manuevers, I did feel that their knowledge of the town was not up to par. We had been on a very thorough carriage ride earlier and our guide had been a native of Charleston working on a degree in history, so we were pretty informed about some things in Charleston. In conversation with another passenger, I mentioned some of the information we had learned and one of the "mates" disagreed and misinformed those passengers, telling them something different . It was quite embarrassing and frustrating. But all things considered, it was an excellent experience and I would recommmend to anyone who is tired of the hustle and bustle of the tourist's "traps" and want to relax, put your feet up, have a drink, and enjoy the BEAUTIFUL water sights Charleston has to offer on the PRIDE. This is definitely NOT a tourist's trap and worth every penny! Enjoy!

I truly enjoyed the cruise. The crew were nice and attentive. The blankets were a VERY smart idea!! It was relaxing & enjoyable. I did not expect a "sightseeing" tour nor was that what I wanted however it would have been nice for a general overview of which islands we were seeing as we went by. The crew answered all questions when asked however I thought as an intro, it would have been cool to know what we were seeing and/or hand out a little map. The other thing that would have been good is if the ship were able to turn to face the sunset so that the front of the ship was not always facing it. It would have been good for the side of the ship to face the sunset so that people sitting on each side could take un-obstructed photos and would not have to leave their seat if they didn't want to. Nice touch to have the beer with the souvenir included. Overall I would recommend the tour and would do it again myself. Note: I would not recommend for children and do NOT expect a "tour", expect an enjoyable relaxing beautiful cruise.

Nice Sail, Little Info

On our girl's weekend in Charleston (7 of us total) we spent a beautiful, sunny afternoon on the Shooner Price sailing around Charleston harbor. The boat was nice enough and we bought some refreshments (took a little bag of snacks with us), just sailing around the harbor was great...but I would NOT consider this an informational tour. We had never been to Charleston before, and I'm not sure we learned anything about it/history from this excursion. If you asked the crew a question about a fort, area of land, etc. they were knowledgeable...but nothing was just offered up as fun fact to know, or even what we were sailing towards.
